True, you usually give money at church when you're a Christian, but in $cientology, you have to pay for introductory course into their cult. At the end of the day, to become what they call "Clear", it'll cost you about $5, 000. I didn't spend a dime to become a Catholic. However, to delve further into the cult, you must continually spend money, and it's not cheap. People go into immense debt over this, and if you can't pay, they won't just allow you to leave. If you try to, they will kill you.
You compare this to other religions, but social standards have changed a lot since they were made. What they're doing is simply unacceptable for this day and age.
