- noxcel, on 08/09/2008, -6/+103to get on DIGG?
- hakkola, on 08/09/2008, -8/+98I don't get it. Why would a terrorist organization report the loss of an integral member?
- mikephimikephi, on 08/10/2008, -8/+63I haven't felt this safe and secure since 9/10
- eLuugy, on 08/10/2008, -8/+59Counter-Terrorist Wins.
- harlowsmonkeys, on 08/10/2008, -3/+47@kingjafee: yes, terrorist organizations issue statements when important members are killed, and have done so for a long time. A typical such statement will proclaim that the deceased died as a martyr, and urge the masses to join their cause. Such press releases bolster the moral of the remaining terrorists, and probably help with recruiting.
- inactive, on 08/09/2008, -9/+44Yippee !!
- kingjafee, on 08/10/2008, -27/+58Its called the government releasing a report to soothe the mind of the average American that both McCain and Obama are heavily courting right now.
The ones who believe everything they read because it is on the "news."
The terrorists are now doing press releases when their important members are killed?
Riiiiiight. - cheese06, on 08/10/2008, -1/+29Counter-Terrorists Win **fixed
- gtluke, on 08/10/2008, -6/+32only on digg is this bad news.
- doctorfungi, on 08/10/2008, -3/+27I see the comments in this little part of the thread are rational, but it's quite obvious that some of you haven't done any study relating to terrorism or al Qaeda, and have likely not even followed the news in the past 6 years very closely.
Al Qaeda and related organizations are always the first to report their own casualties. The way they see it (rightfully so), is that if they don't report the death first (with their own spin), the West is going to do it eventually anyway. Reporting their casualties before the US does allows them to gain control of the information side of the situation and be the first to break the news. As harlowsmonkeys also said, it allows them to claim the casualty as a martyr and someone who died for a good cause. This also helps them recruit.
Kingjafee, you just sound ignorant. You should spend more time at a school/college or even reading real news instead of spending all your time on conspiracy theory websites. - spyd3rweb, on 08/10/2008, -15/+36Al Qaeda loses a 'key operative' or some 'expert' every week. Sometimes even the same person gets killed twice.
- Dragular, on 08/10/2008, -6/+24no clearly this has something to do with bush, or mccain, or oil, or some corporate conspiracy that has brainwashed everyone except the person who is nodding as they read this.
- inactive, on 08/10/2008, -4/+20pics or it didnt happen.

Anyone have a credible source? - virtorio, on 08/10/2008, -1/+15That's what they said about the spoon.
- shig, on 08/10/2008, -1/+15This is the latter scenario. Midhat Mursi al-Sayid 'Umar, alternatively Midhat Mursi al Sayyid Umar, aka Abu Khabab al-Masri, aka Abu Khabab al Masri, aka Abu Khabab el Masry, aka Abu Kahbab al Misri, died January 13, 2006 according to an AP report.

Due to our short attention spans, and lack of credibility within our government and it's media outlets, you get dugg down. - doctorfungi, on 08/10/2008, -2/+14I've formally studied history and politics, with specific courses on terrorism and the politics of terrorism, at University and your comment disgusts me for two reasons. The first being that you are claiming that an organization responsible for the deaths of thousands does not even exist, and secondly because you can't seem to fathom even the basic fundamentals of reality.
- shig, on 08/10/2008, -9/+21He was killed once two years ago... resurrected from the grave... too be killed again last month...

According to global security, associated press reported his death as Jan. 13, 2006.

Will he stay dead? Or are we fighting immortal zombie terrorists? If we are, I give up. These things survive JDAMs and Daisy Cutters for God's sake. - odriveeu, on 08/10/2008, -1/+12Can I have his stuff?
- WhiteRaven, on 08/10/2008, -5/+15Does that mean that they don't aspire to and have members who know the most about how to make it happen?
- chrillen, on 08/10/2008, -5/+15Inside informant I would guess.
- DaDrake, on 08/10/2008, -3/+12Why are people digging you down? How is this NOT a good thing?
- inactive, on 08/10/2008, -2/+10human beings yes, like us? no.
- Stoyanov, on 08/10/2008, -4/+12That's the first thing I thought. Why would a terrorist organization 'lower' their image, make themselves look less intimidating? It is the exact opposite they are *supposed* to aim for.
- mijelh, on 08/10/2008, -0/+8Yeah, like Iran's missiles
- getbusylivin, on 08/10/2008, -0/+8I was reading through your comment history expecting to see it filled with pro-neoconservative babble, but instead you seem to be pretty smart. So know I'm a bit worried that I may not be seeing what is really going on and that these extremists really do want to murder everyone on this planet that is not Muslim. *****.
- Armon339, on 08/10/2008, -0/+7Bomb has been planted.
- SugarCoatedSalt, on 08/10/2008, -0/+7wo wo wo...you mean to tell me that...there is no spoon?
- inactive, on 08/10/2008, -2/+9They only had one expert? I bet that guy did not get his 2 x 15 minute breaks and a 30 minute lunch.
- phillyharper, on 08/10/2008, -2/+9That's funny, because I'm sure they killed this guy once before? Maybe he's like a zombie terrorist, keeps coming back for more.... Keep it up guys, he'll actually die one day.
http://abcnews.go.com/WNT/Investigation/story?id=1 ... - inactive, on 08/10/2008, -2/+9Yay, we're winning the war on terror!
- EasySt, on 08/10/2008, -5/+12Pelosi and her fellow travelers are deeply saddened...
- theright, on 08/10/2008, -2/+8Notice the red bullets next to all the details of his supposed death in 2006 on the Global Security profile page. Low confidence. Questionable.
The Associated Press report from February 2006, titled 'US attack killed Al-Qaida leader's kin', states: "Pakistani intelligence officials have told The Associated Press that the two men were Midhat Mursi al-Sayid Umar and Abdul Rehman al-Maghribi."
Thus, the AP was just reporting the claims of anonymous Pakistani intelligence officials, and we know those don't tend to be the most reliable sources of information out there...
Come on, shig. Critical thinking. Get with it. - jbob2000, on 08/10/2008, -0/+6*chzzz* OK lets move out!
- inactive, on 08/10/2008, -1/+7No, since you're an organized army bombing civilians, you're just war criminals, not terrorists.
- thetron, on 08/10/2008, -0/+6Wasn't this guy in ironman?
- doctorfungi, on 08/10/2008, -3/+8floistan, that was not a rebuttal. Try again.
- ajadoniz, on 08/10/2008, -1/+6Ah, that explains the weird craiglist post from them.

-it's NOT ok to contact this poster with services or other commercial interests - wunksta, on 08/10/2008, -0/+5the al qaeda doesnt exist as a formal organization. anyone who takes up arms against america could receive funding and be called "al qaeda".
anyway, we shouldnt have set up these groups of people in the first place. everything we do always comes back and bites us in the ass. but as long as the controlling elite benefit and its just our loss, the status quo will continue. - DaDrake, on 08/10/2008, -2/+7Just because you know how to build a nuclear bomb doesn't mean you have the material to do it. Al Qaida are pragmatists --- they work with what they have. Thankfully, they don't have smallpox or uranium.
- DaDrake, on 08/10/2008, -4/+9For one, Al Qaeda has a horrible track record of integrity. I remember during the India bombings, you have upwards of five seperate groups claiming responsibility. Then you have Al Qaeda in Iraq (and now they are basically non existing) claiming that they took down helicopters (when no helicopters were taken down). To recruit young extremist, they basically edit tons of film to show the US (and coalition forces) being destroyed and claim responsibility (even when they aren't responsible).
- razorsedge555, on 08/10/2008, -7/+12Nonsense. All they have to do is email Human Resources down at corporate and post an in-house job opening. I'm sure they can hire four foreigners to replace him for less money. Besides, he was due for early retirement at 50 percent pay scale.
- an0nymous, on 08/10/2008, -2/+7Psyops.
Esxpect other such amazing revelations as the election approaches.
Not a conspiracy theory, merely a prediction based on the past behavior of the intelligence community.
They have an agenda. - WTFppl, on 08/10/2008, -0/+5To be safe, I'm not going to trust any intell from former or staffed CIA agents.
2 + 2 = An organization with it's kind of money has no issues hiring weapons experts who need to eat and live in the Middle East! - GiggleStick, on 08/10/2008, -0/+5How about, so we quit trying to look for them. They don't rely on any persona-worship really other than OBL or zawahari. So, if we were trying to kill someone strategically important to them, it would be in their interest to say, "Oh man, you got him." and then squirrel him away to continue his work without bombs falling on him.
I'm not saying that's what happened here, but it a reason I can think of. - doctorfungi, on 08/10/2008, -3/+8Of course xtraa. The thousands of people that die every year as a result of terrorism are all just colluding to fake their own deaths in a spectacular way.
Idiot. - justinx0r, on 08/10/2008, -3/+8It was a misreported death by the Pakistanis. They were targeting Ayman al-Zawahiri in an airstrike but ended up killing a bunch of locals by mistake. It's not some huge conspiracy.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/artic ... - skews13, on 08/10/2008, -0/+4this has to be a mistake. according to the whitehouse, al qaeda is in iraq. it must be a mistaken identity.
- dexter411, on 08/10/2008, -3/+7Right on! Also, also al Qaeda has never toppled a skyscraper with an airplane, so believing they might want to makes you naive and stupid. This country lives in a fantasy world.
- flogistan, 9/10/2001. - Abram730, on 08/10/2008, -1/+5They have the bat cave tapped.
