- dshPls, on 10/12/2007, -22/+95***** you. This is no time to inject conspiracy theorys.
- Lumiras, on 10/12/2007, -8/+53Umm, actually, that's because you're standing in a blast furnace. I would suggest getting out of it
- CamZak, on 10/12/2007, -3/+47This is about the same as a car crashing into a building and starting fire...this is a small airplane traveling at small speeds with aircraft fuel. 9/11 was a huge airplane, going at about twice the speed loaded with jet fuel.
- sockpuppets, on 10/12/2007, -9/+46You're trying to rationalize with an irrational person. It's a waste of time.
- eLau, on 10/12/2007, -12/+50Planes are becoming magnetic to buildings on the 11th day of any month. :
- thenativeraver, on 10/12/2007, -12/+47@wibblewibble
How the hell do you figure that?
How many stories was this building and HOW MANY stories were there on the WTC?
Pull your head out of your ass. - masamunecyrus, on 10/12/2007, -8/+42I think what people fail to realize are the following two obvious points:
1.) Steel beams to not need to melt in order for the unimaginablly massive tons of weight that they're holding up to crush them. They just need to heat up enough to sacrifice some of their structural integrity.
2.) When 400 tons of metal crash into a steel beam at ~300-400 mph, it WILL cause damage to that beam. The beams holding up the WTCs were not invulnerable to the harsh reality of physics. When you take a beam, damage it, and then heat it up, and when said beam has tons and tons and tons of weight on top of it, it's going to fail. And when a building that large starts to fail, the massive pressure forces that act upon it cause it to actually implode -- the building is sucking itself into the ground.
That said, I believe jonj said it correctly when he stated, "hey moron, a small plane or a helicopter carries a lot less fuel than an intercontinental jumbo jet" - jonj, on 10/12/2007, -5/+37hey moron, a small plane or a helicopter carries a lot less fuel than an intercontinental jumbo jet
- happyfappy, on 10/12/2007, -6/+37@sinfree:
In 1975, the Pentagon ran clandestine simulated trials of crashing a small airplane into a random building on the Upper East Side of Manhattan -- Codename: Project Lemur.
The coordinator of the project? That's right -- Donald Rumsfeld.
Fast forward 20 years. The government issues a $2.5 billion grant to the UMBRELLA corporation. The purpose? Creating a remote controlled aircraft capable of crashing into a random building on the Upper East Side -- with Military Precision.
So in answer to your question: hell yes, I'm just joking. - KSettes, on 10/12/2007, -8/+37This is clearly a failure of the Clinton Administration.

- blosto, on 10/12/2007, -4/+27And 10/11/06 is 9/11/01 upside down ZOMG.
- Pattyo13, on 05/14/2009, -3/+27and tomorrow will be 10/12
- tokyomonster, on 10/12/2007, -5/+29Because you jumped to a conclusion.
"A U.S. official told Reuters there was no reason to believe the incident was terrorism-related." - pbaehr, on 10/12/2007, -2/+26At least now NYC firefighters/police have no doubt recieved tons of training on how to handle a situation like this.
- sockpuppets, on 10/12/2007, -4/+26No serious injuries? I'm no genius but I think if you fly your helicopter into a building you're probably pretty dead.
- happyfappy, on 10/12/2007, -7/+29Nostradamus predicted this:
In the year 2006
A little plane
Being operated by ninja-monkeys
Will crash
Into a building
And people will ***** their pants
For no reason
Marmalade - AllnightChemist, on 10/12/2007, -8/+30What's with the digging down? Am I not in Midtown?
- NSMike, on 10/12/2007, -4/+24Were you on the 20th floor of the building?
- techweenie1, on 10/12/2007, -2/+22It's a small aircraft by the way...not a commercial airliner
- heysuburbia, on 10/12/2007, -3/+21Write "10-11-6" on a piece of paper and turn it upside-down
AAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!
It begins! - armbar, on 10/12/2007, -2/+20...and the day after tomorrow is *gasp* Friday the 13th!!!
- AllnightChemist, on 10/12/2007, -16/+32I'm in Midtown and somebody messed up.
Everything that's happening now is happening now... - centic, on 10/12/2007, -3/+19..couldn't imagine why
- piper999, on 10/12/2007, -2/+17No - you weren't supposed to send your comment until Thursday. Obviously something's out of synch here.
Seriously - keep posting if you can see anything newsworthy... - sockpuppets, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13The FAA has stated it's a fixed wing aircraft, not a helicopter. Just announced on TV as I typed this.
Also a body was found between two cars. - mr_cheese28, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14I am at a college near the Portland International Airport, where there is an air national guard base, and 5 mins after seeing the story on msnbc, I could hear 2 F-15 fighter jets taking off, I just hope it was a coincidence.
- IamTheProfessor, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14"The North side of the building was hit which leads experts to say this plane was traveling.. uh... South."
Thanks CBS. Brilliant. - dustedbunny, on 10/12/2007, -2/+15**no serious injuries to anyone who might have been in the apartment buildings. Sorry.
- Lumiras, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13yes, it appears that the damage is isolated to just a few apartments on one floor. This is nothing compared to 9/11. In all actuality, it was probably an accident
- sockpuppets, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12Apparently the plane was a democrat.

- Lumiras, on 10/12/2007, -7/+17Let's not even start with the conspiracy theories. We know nothing at all about what's going on, so don't even start it.
It was probably an accident. Let's leave 9/11 out of this. - jaschwan, on 10/12/2007, -3/+13Karl Rove's October suprise!!
- evilunleashed, on 10/12/2007, -4/+14Can someone flip on the lightswitch to get the conspiracy cockroaches to scatter?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10Thanks for explaining the meaning of fatality.
- uptown, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10CNN just reported that the plane may belong to Yankee pitcher Corey Lidle.
- IamTheProfessor, on 10/12/2007, -5/+14Absolutely. If Clinton had just put in better aircraft regulations this would never have happened. And Clinton is to blame for the bad batteries in my laptop too.
- sockpuppets, on 10/12/2007, -4/+13A 1 in 31 chance of it being the 11th.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9The answer to the conundrum is that there's a hospital below those floors, so the floor numbers are off. Its the equivalent of a 50 story building, but there are only something like 30 floors of condos.
- Beaver6813, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9According to BBC and ABC News and to the Aviation people (sorry for the name not being full) but it was a Fixed Wing Aircraft (Small Plane). Not a helicopter.
This is also backed by eye-witnesses, the plane was described as doing 'acrobatics' before leveling out and going into the building. - tobyjoe, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9My wife and I used to have a loft at the end of Manhattan Ave in Greenpoint, right on Newtown Creek (facing Manhattan). There was a small plane that would buzz our 4th floor window all the time, dip down into the East River or the creek for a landing (it was the type that could land and take off from water). I still see it all the time, buzzing around over the river and the city, flying with no apparent purpose. I've been seeing the thing for 6 years now.
Anyone who doesn't live in NYC but thinks there aren't all sorts of planes and helicopters flying around is wrong. I actually wonder if this might have been that weird little plane that used to scare my cats. - happyfappy, on 10/12/2007, -5/+12Only the Pentagon -- using advanced extra-terrestrial technology harnessed by conservative think-tank PNAC -- could have ordered a strike of this precision and magnitude...
- NSMike, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Man... I'll bet some New Yorkers are getting a serious case of the chills from that scene.
- Tenlow, on 10/12/2007, -7/+15You're right. It does need to be seen by as many people as possible. I see it as a basic intelegence and comprehension test. If you believe any of it, you're a moron. If not, you're an educated intelligent person.
- AllnightChemist, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8From http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,219921,00.html
"The crash set off a raging fire that sent a pillar of gray smoke over the city, police said. Witnesses reported seeing a gigantic fireball come out of the building, police said."
I will say this: From 53rd Street you can hardly see the smoke.
That's all I can report from here. - Lumiras, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7A plane crashes into a building after 9/11, it's impossible to not think about terrorism, brainwashed goon or not
- Toloran, on 10/12/2007, -5/+12True Story as I heard it from my brother:
Brother: Oh no, my friend lives in new york *calls* I heard a plane hit on the east side?
Friend: Yeah it did. I don't give a f*** though, the east side is full of jerks. -
