- FreddyO, on 04/15/2008, -4/+509Oh my, this accomplished actor did a lot of the Scientology promo work, and now he says Scientology is an abusive, dangerous cult...I'm beginning to suspect that Scientology's promotional videos are full of lies.
I was wondering why their promos never address the real issues of disconnection, medical abuse, child labor, harassment of perceived 'enemies', psychological coercion, financial exploitation and fraud.- iainc, on 04/15/2008, -3/+73And so it begins :o)

- Bith8654, on 04/16/2008, -1/+11Hey now, we need to embrace people realizing Scientology's stupidity, not insult them! Though I would like to think that everyone can immediately understand how ridiculous it is, apparently that's not the case. However, if they are able to eventually see the light, it's definitely a good thing.

well put sir - cryonix, on 04/16/2008, -1/+12I was offered an in house job at Golden Era Productions (Scientology production studio) doing 3d animation... they were going to completely take care of me (food and lodging). After multiple emails back and forth i realized i don't think i could have lived with myself making propaganda for them. I'm still a little unsettled and unsure how they found me and knew I was an animator... they are all watching us.
- gavinonymous, on 04/16/2008, -0/+10scienology offiices were raided recently in europe - the COS was placing fake job ads, and trying to indoctrinate candidates that applied for the jobs.

- georgeehale, on 04/15/2008, -7/+307The scam is coming to an end!
- citizenchan, on 04/15/2008, -17/+4Huh, what scam? Are you telling me mediclorians don't exist. oh wait....
- heymike, on 04/15/2008, -3/+23I wish I could believe that but I keep coming back to how these people got into it in the first place. I can understand them getting people in hardship and such; humans of low intelligence or under emotional duress are 'easy' to take advantage of. But how do they get guys like Beghe or just an average sob like myself to join in the first place? I would have trouble getting over the aliens, and DC-8 spaceships, volcanoes, and the fact a sci-fi writer created it in the 60/70's. How do they continue to grow or hold someone for over 10 years without them figuring out what the stench is?
I think I will have to understand how they grew to such masses (& wealth) before I can believe that it will end. Essentially, these guys got the same business model of neo-natzi or something where they prey on either the young, ignorant, or poor to get there numbers but they can't hold them or grow their size substantially due to the inherent issues with their philosophy being so f'ed up and all.
This part of humanity really is interesting; wish I understood it more.- acis1, on 04/16/2008, -15/+4so do some ***** research? it's all on the internet.
- zigunerweisen, on 04/16/2008, -2/+13Maybe its like a pyramid scheme. You join, then you can get part of the profits of all the stuff you sell. Disclaimer: I am just talking out of my ass with absolutely no basis on anything I just said.
- schroeder, on 04/16/2008, -1/+17From what I gather, they don't tell you about all the weird ***** until you get higher up. They start out easing you in and getting to accept that there is only Scientology and the reason for all the bad things in the world are the thetans or whatever. Then as you become more convinced and accepting to their truths (brainwashing) they slide in the reasons for those truths. Eventually by the time they get to alien souls it all seems to make sense.
- sougly, on 04/16/2008, -0/+11The weird ***** was leaked out. Most Scientologists are not told of it.

- archivist, on 04/16/2008, -1/+11it only takes a person to watch 3-4 great sci-fi movies to understand that what a scam scientology is and what L Ron has written is... well, there are no words to describe its abhorrence so i'm forced to make one myself: visccombuberate.

- jfzimmermann, on 04/15/2008, -7/+77Kirstie Alley has an excuse to belong to "scientology", she's on a crash diet. John Travolta may be suffering from an altitude disorder that affects pilots. And Tommy Cruise? He's just plain stunted.
- laserblazer, on 04/15/2008, -4/+20Tom Cruise has classic Short Man's Syndrome; his narcissism is always at war with his genuine hatred of his shortness. Mr. Cruise might want to study up on the legal definition of fraud - which covers Ponzi schemes such as Scientology - before he decides he's adequately weighed the, ahem, ramifications if he's charged with felonies.
- dhughes, on 04/16/2008, -4/+2 Come on now don't be a bigger prick than him, being short doesn't mean you have to be meek and bow down to people who are taller.
Tom Cruise is nuts due to Scientology not his height.- mysedai, on 04/16/2008, -1/+3Actually, I think you could argue that Scientology is a symptom of his craziness, not a cause.
- itchyfeet, on 04/16/2008, -2/+6dhughes, you have you studied the history of shortness? You don't know the history of shortness. I DO. You're.. youre.. you're GLIB.. You don't know the history of shortness, I DO.
- goldfishey, on 04/16/2008, -1/+2well then....what is it?
- ramallama, on 04/16/2008, -0/+1Oh you can read it very quickly. Its not long, its very...uh...nevermind.
- goldfishey, on 04/16/2008, -1/+2well then....what is it?
- Hodr, on 04/16/2008, -0/+2At the risk of being told I have "Short Man's Syndrome" (which I get a lot) I have to ask, why is it that whenever a tall, or average size person is an egomaniac, *****, or just plain douche nozzle people don't equate it to their "height", they just call it as they see it; but if the person is short it must be because they have some syndrome or other related to their height (and this is almost always pointed out by "tall" people)? On behalf of all short people (Mr. Cruise included) I would just like to express my contempt at the parents presumption, and respond with a resounding "go ***** yourself".
- ramallama, on 04/16/2008, -0/+1You can get off your soapbox now. Wait...get back on.
- laserblazer, on 04/19/2008, -0/+1You have a point, but I have to say that I've invoked, and heard evoked, the subject of Tall Man's Syndrome, which is similar to Short Man's Syndrome in that self-awareness of height can bring on odious attitudes and the generally unpopular expression of self-centeredness.
The primary reason that taller people can expect a degree of preference is that from a biological view, a larger individual is often a better-nourished individual, and that is one of the indicators that the female subconscious relies on when judging a potential mate.
Tall, short - no matter - it's our hearts and minds that make us giants.
- dhughes, on 04/16/2008, -4/+2 Come on now don't be a bigger prick than him, being short doesn't mean you have to be meek and bow down to people who are taller.
- Rimbo, on 04/16/2008, -1/+20According to rumor, Travolta got into Scientology because they claimed to "cure" homosexuality, and he recruited Cruise for the same reason.
But that's just a dirty filthy rumor.- laserblazer, on 04/16/2008, -6/+5Then they should have had the courage to be happy gay guys - which I can understand is probably a challenge with a big chunk of the population ready and willing to offer queers scorn at every turn. At any rate, they shouldn't be operating Ponzi schemes.

- goldfishey, on 04/16/2008, -0/+4If Scientology worked like it claims to, then kirsty alley wouldn't have needed jenny craig to lose weight. She really is the poster child for the "Scientology is a scam" movement.
- edwartica, on 04/16/2008, -1/+4Tom Cruise shows all the signs of untreated ADHD. He really needs to start taking his medication.
- laserblazer, on 04/16/2008, -1/+4In Tom Cruise's case, would that be 'Acting-Disadvantaged Hyperactive *****'? I've known ADHD (the real definition) people and they're way cooler than Tom Cruise.

http://www.whyaretheydead.net/- Wakuko, on 04/16/2008, -1/+20In a very common suicide scheme in ex-scientologists, he ran a hose from the exhaust of his car to the window.

- Lynxpro, on 04/16/2008, -0/+5As long as she was hot, that would still be respectable.
- nomadxx7, on 04/16/2008, -0/+5I went to that link and saw the L. Ron Hubbard's son committed suicide. The article also mentioned weird things when L. Ron Hubbard died. Victims of their own creation?

- petedi, on 04/15/2008, -3/+67MP's daughter commit suicide after Scientology Personality Test:
http://sugiero.blogspot.com/2008/04/norway-mps-dau ...- saxreturns, on 04/15/2008, -3/+16That's really, really sad... but I can't imagine that she was particularly emotionally stable to begin with if that one test caused her to commit suicide.
- gavinonymous, on 04/16/2008, -0/+2those tests are designed to show the recruiter which areas of weakness in personality to exploit. Maybe they hit on the right one, and pushed it too far. for her to take. I took the test once myself, but they never called me after or anything - i had maxxed oout in all categories - the weirdo giving me the test then asked me how I felt about 'controlling people' - I still have the results somewhere.. I think it's an 'oxford personality test' about 300 questions.. very innocuous in normal hands.
- babu42, on 04/16/2008, -1/+1> I can't imagine that she was particularly emotionally stable to begin with [...]
If that is the case it only adds to the blame. This so called test should detect any emotional difficulties she might have had and it should cause the scientlogists to go easy on her. Well, guess what. They didn't.
What really happened follows the usual pattern; they picked her *because* she was young and vulnerable and they put pressure on to destroy her self esteem so they could more easily recruit and brainwash her. And that killed her. - hamidious, on 04/16/2008, -3/+1It's her fault. If someone tell you that you basically suck, you don't actually go on and kill yourself unless you really suck.
- saxreturns, on 04/15/2008, -3/+16That's really, really sad... but I can't imagine that she was particularly emotionally stable to begin with if that one test caused her to commit suicide.

- meells, on 04/15/2008, -4/+15Hey, I think you are right, but here is my question....if this is your attitude, why do you sign off with a Catholic affiliation? Arent you now technically an agnostic? Don't hide from it...it's ok. The Pope can't reach you here :)
- chrissku, on 04/15/2008, -4/+5Might point is I am Catholic and I still can't come up with proof that I'm right and everyone else is wrong. Their guess is as good as mine.
- meells, on 04/15/2008, -1/+7Yeah i get that...but that makes you technically *not* Catholic. Why carry the tag is all Im saying. By affixing the label to yourself, you are proclaiming that you CAN assert that you are correct and the others are not. Thats the point of denominationalized religion. Not a big deal, I just dont see why peole let themselkves get slapped with a label as a child, but never think to drop it when it doesnt fit anymore.
- chrissku, on 04/15/2008, -2/+5"let themselves get slapped with a title as a child"????
What child has the capability to tell their parents "Hey Mom and Dad I want to give other religions and cultures a shot before I make my decision to go with the church you have been taking me to the 6 years I've been alive thus far."
Be realistic. How do we know the church we grew up going to is the right church? My parents never took me to a mosque to see if that was more my style. They never took me to a synagogue.
Get my point? We really have no choice. our beliefs are basically decided by our parents. - 0011002, on 04/16/2008, -1/+5He meant why keep the tag after you are grown up and are can choose what to believe in.
- MalenfantX, on 04/16/2008, -0/+1@chrissku if a god or gods were real, it wouldn't matter what was more your style, there would be one true religion.
Since gods are fictional, people can and do believe whatever nutty ideas they're handed as children. I really think we should get over our superstitious past.

- Qumahlin, on 04/15/2008, -4/+15it's not about that. Do any of the religions you named above other than Scientology charge you for information about them? Do they tell you that unless you give them all your money and buy special equipment you will be possessed by demons? Do they then take in the people who have fallen for their scheme and gone bankrupt and put them to work as slaves on their various properties?
The Catholic church has committed many atrocities in it's time; however even they know better in this day and age. Scientology is the worlds largest ponzi scheme above all else.- OneLess, on 04/16/2008, -9/+2Ah, so it's only bad to lie to and otherwise scam millions of people as long as you don't charge them money. Please my screwy atheist brain if I don't see some cognitive dissonance here.
- bruce86, on 04/16/2008, -1/+4You are using cognitive dissonance in the wrong way. By your own definition (though wrong) of what these diggers believe, there is no disparity in behavior and belief.
- Qumahlin, on 04/16/2008, -1/+7"Ah, so it's only bad to lie to and otherwise scam millions of people as long as you don't charge them money"
Quite frankly yes, yes I do. I myself am an athiest. I have no need for religion, but I understand that the majority of the people I know...do. Now if you need religion and your family brought you up to need religion then said religion should atleast be somewhat looking out for your well being in the grand scheme of things and not just trying to rape your wallet.
In most religions there is a big imaginary guy in the sky who would like you to donate money atleast once a week, but you don't have to donate if you can't afford it and they will still treat you the same. In scientology the imaginary guy in the sky wants you to donate all your money, become his slave, and cut off communication with anyone outside of the religion specifically to avoid them from finding out you just got robbed.
See the difference?
- OneLess, on 04/16/2008, -9/+2Ah, so it's only bad to lie to and otherwise scam millions of people as long as you don't charge them money. - analogkid01, on 04/15/2008, -3/+5We're rational, thinking human beings who have rightfully embraced and developed a little thing called the scientific method. That's who we are. Scientology = Christianity = Islam = superstition. Atheism may very well be "incorrect," but at least it's the only belief system that wouldn't have a problem *admitting* it's incorrect.
- chrissku, on 04/15/2008, -4/+2Like I said....I'm a catholic and I always ask myself 'who's religion is the right religion?' It's human nature. I don't care what religion you are.....most people ask themselves this question. If you say you don't you're probably lying.
- meells, on 04/16/2008, -1/+3No link to reply to your convo with me above, but here is one: Fair enough on the choice on words...most children are not given an option. But you are attacking a technicality of wording rather than the overriding point: If you see a disconnect in what you were taught and what you now , with choice enabled, think....there is no point in proclaiming an affailiation. You know what I am saying, technicalities notwithstanding. You persist in saying you are Catholic, but dont have the faith to proclaim it the true religion, which is a requirement to use the title. Therefore you are not Catholic.
- chrissku, on 04/16/2008, -0/+2Ok...I was raised Catholic and I personally do believe in God. It took me lots of second guessing to come to that belief. However, I am not foolish enough to ever tell somebody else what they believe is wrong. I can offer no proof that they are wrong.
The point I originally made was not to judge others for what they believe. Everyone was raised in different circumstances. Not every Muslim was taught about the Jewish faith as a child when their mind was developing. Not every Jew learned about the Muslim faith as a child when they were developing. People should have faith in what they believe without telling others they are wrong or right. The fact is nobody can prove definitively that another persons religion is wrong. - arcooke, on 04/16/2008, -0/+4chrissku, it absolutely amazes me that you're still religious. You definitely do have the right idea. This is what irritates me most about religion is that people just settle with the one that has the most influence in their lives (by parents, the community, even the country). They never stop to explore others, and just assume they chose the right one (kudos to you for not doing that). Religions around the world are vastly different, and anyone who believes in a god I would imagine would like to make sure he or she is affiliated with the right one (to prevent being punished in the "afterlife").
I really don't know what to make of your replies, but it sounds to me like you could be teetering on the edge of agnosticism, even if you don't even realize it.

Most of the ***** you see doing stupid religious acts are crazy fundamentalists, no matter what the religion. And I've known plenty of really good people who are religious, and use it as motivation to do good things.

I dated a crazy girl for a while and was pretty shocked by the newsletter from her evangelical church.

- Jlaugh, on 04/16/2008, -5/+1Most religions have secrets. Even Christians.
- PueSi, on 04/16/2008, -2/+9It's not their beliefs i disagree with, it's the way the silence people who speak against them.
For all i care they could believe in flying hippopotamus, but when they start harassing critics, committing crimes (Operation Snow White http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_snow_white ) and suing everybody, I have all the right to speak against them.
Simple question: When was the last time the Pope sued anybody?- chrissku, on 04/16/2008, -4/+2He's a little tied up in pedophile court right now. We had a few guys that liked boys....and well now he needs to finish dealing with that mess.
- bruce86, on 04/16/2008, -3/+3Be careful your Scientology is showing.

- RCourtney, on 04/16/2008, -4/+6It's really quite simple actually. Anyone who claims certainty in knowing the answer to an unanswerable question is, by definition, speaking out of their ass.
Catholic, Christian, Muslim, Scientologist, Hindi, Wiccan, Satanist, Flying Spagetti Monster = WRONG
"I don't know but want to keep a critically thinking, open mind so that I can find the truth" = RIGHT- dddavid, on 04/16/2008, -1/+2Scientology cannot be equated with Christianity or Catholocism or Judaism (sp?) because at least those religions TRY to help people. Even if they are wrong they are not completely evil. Scientology is a business. A business of separating people from their money. Please educate yourself on it. It is more dangerous than you think.
- schroeder, on 04/16/2008, -1/+2There are a lot of criminal activities associated with Scientology:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scientology_controver ... - writerwriter, on 04/16/2008, -3/+4all religions are made up sacks of *****... Christ = Horus... it's all crap. Total, utter crap.
However, LRH gets huge points for one thing: he made a bet with Heinlein that he could start a religion and make a lot of money. Bingo.
Others in our times who've done this? Joseph Smith (mormonism), whose own mother said he was the best liar she'd ever met.
The guy who started the JWs
Who ever started the 7th day adventists
Charlatains all.
- robthom, on 04/15/2008, -20/+1Does this mean he wont be using firefox anymore?
- MoonDog9, on 04/15/2008, -22/+1Someone tell me why I need to care about this guy? Is it a slow news day?
- Heembo, on 04/16/2008, -0/+4Insider trashing Scientology. Fun sport!
- tnoy, on 04/16/2008, -0/+3Think of it like a member of Bush's cabinet starting to tell all the secrets.
- N256, on 04/15/2008, -21/+1We don't give a ***** about anything else a celebrity does, why do we here? Also, are we going to credit Anon every time someone leaves scientology now?
- koreth, on 04/15/2008, -3/+1"We" being who, exactly?
- digitalpencil, on 04/16/2008, -0/+5Hell, if Travolta and Cruise leave I think we should declare a national-*****-holiday!
- edwartica, on 04/16/2008, -0/+2If they left, I might actually rent War of the Worlds! I kind of decided I would be better off not seeing it, considering Tom Cruise is in it and all.
- MalenfantX, on 04/16/2008, -0/+0You are better off not seeing it. Watch the first movie or listen to the radio drama instead.

- imacbook, on 04/15/2008, -33/+2You can view articles about Scientology on your iMac or MacBook from Apple.
- mywhitenoise, on 04/15/2008, -3/+7Really? Can I also watch scientology and celebrity gossip on a SharpTV? I know I can on a Samsung, and Pioneer...but I want to make sure before I buy.
- meells, on 04/15/2008, -2/+6Also...on a PC, or the library....Christ some of you Mac fanboys are pathetic. Your Mac brethren should be beating you down for making them guilty by association. Even if you are just a shill....I can imagine this coming from a regular user.
- digitalpencil, on 04/16/2008, -0/+1only retards define themselves by their hardware but I must admit.. i'm crying a little inside about the association : (
- mythicflux, on 04/15/2008, -1/+9They have the internet on computers now?

- jstone, on 04/16/2008, -0/+3I'd like to think this is a spambot, but I've seen some mac fans that are just as bad...
- tnoy, on 04/16/2008, -0/+3I think digg is the last place someone would need to spam about Apple.
- chudgoo, on 04/15/2008, -4/+13....and tomorrow he will catch cancer or be accused of being a pedophile

- TheWriteGuy, on 04/15/2008, -5/+14Well, if anything happens to him, maybe his best friend, Agent Mulder, will ensure The Truth comes out.
- imnotverycr8ive, on 04/16/2008, -0/+4Maybe in the new X-Files movie Mulder will infiltrate the CO$. I mean, come on. Aliens, crazy characters (Tom Cruise), secretive cults, and mysterious deaths. The monster-of-the-week could be Xenu.
- atarideath, on 04/15/2008, -2/+14Now to wait for the words "Beghe" and "under mysterious circumstances" to appear in headlines.
- mddawso, on 04/15/2008, -3/+10Well this is cool and all until the dude unexpectedly kills himself in a seemingly impossible series of events...
- Aensland, on 04/15/2008, -2/+6...a series of unfortunate events.
- yohnstoppable, on 04/16/2008, -4/+3just like final destination! I knew those crazy ***** were behind it. How else could someone slip from a leaked toilet, and get her head severed?
- Allibaster, on 04/15/2008, -12/+1Ummm......who?
- ElBeh, on 04/15/2008, -17/+3Just another celebrity attention stunt. But yeah, -1 for Scientology.

- dougintexas, on 04/18/2008, -0/+1I so miss listening to his music but, since I learned about his membership in Co$, well, I just can't listen to it anymore without thinking that at least some of the money I spent on that music (yeah, I still buy my music) went to support the crap this "church" spews (well IMO all religion is crap but that's just me).
- EdithPiaf, on 04/20/2008, -0/+0His album 'the information' is a tribute to LRon.
