Abbas: Release of Israeli soldier ‘imminent’

msnbc.msn.com — ROME - Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said Thursday that the release of an Israeli soldier abducted in Israel could be "imminent." "There are ongoing efforts that lead us to believe in an imminent solution," Abbas said, speaking through a translator, after a meeting in Rome with Italian Premier Romano Prodi.

  • uttles, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2It's worth noting that Abbas didn't say what the "imminent solution" was, only that there was one. Sure, he hinted at the soldier's release, but he didn't actually say anything at all. Just another stall tactic. Nothing to see here.
  • eatdontsendspam, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Apparently AP just made a mistake in the translation. He only said he was doing lots of things to try to get this resolved.( all news stations are now reporting this)
