- PatrioticKiwi, on 10/12/2007, -12/+71First of all, there is no "honour" in killing.
Secondly, this sick practice is, unfortunately, very common place. It was only recently that we had news of a trial of an "honour killing" in Britain, where a father killed his entire family (wife + 4 daughters) because he thought they were too western. We don't need this type of behaviour exported into western democracies.
See: http://www.digg.com/world_news/Honor_Killing_in_Britain - nixonrichard, on 10/12/2007, -1/+35"can someone tell me when digg became a haven for anti-muslim news stories? im not a muslim but this ***** is getting lame..."
Did you even read the article? It's about Arab Muslim women standing up and saying "enough is enough" and ending a deadly trend of silence when it comes to honor killings. This is about Muslim's doing the right thing. This is NOT anti-Muslim. - Muyoso, on 10/12/2007, -5/+36How is it anti-Muslim? Its a new story on an event that actually occurred. Its as if on 9/12/01 you would have been like, "Jesus, enough already with all of this anti-Muslim propaganda" even though there was a REASON for the "propaganda" (read: THE NEWS).
- THX1212, on 10/12/2007, -7/+37That is right, tritium. Go back to sleep now. Those honor killings were just a bad dream. All honor killings are just bad dreams....
- wbwittmeyer, on 10/12/2007, -3/+32Let us hope that all the male members of that dysfunctional family are dispatched promptly to their own special place in hell
- PatrioticKiwi, on 10/12/2007, -15/+43So a member of Digg is not permitted to submit and comment on articles he/she is interested in?
- Highrise1, on 10/12/2007, -2/+30The bravery of the women that weren't murdered.....
Unbelievable. - elebrio, on 10/12/2007, -11/+35I don't read LGF, I'm not a Jew, Muslim or Christian however I find it interesting how a right leaning blog like LGF is criticized for portraying Islam in a negative light, yet left-leaning blogs that portray the American (christian) religious right (christofascists) in a negative light are lauded by the average digger. I'm an atheist, I don't have a horse in this one. I personally digg up all stories that make any religion look bad. Why doesn't the average leftie do the same?
- nwatkins, on 10/12/2007, -21/+41So Krymore, because someone does not believe exactly what you believe, that person should stay off digg?
- charlesmartel81, on 10/12/2007, -8/+27Yeah. Bury all the stories that don't correspond to your point of view because you are afraid people may learn about things you don't want them to hear. What a little Nazi you are.
- lzfootball, on 10/12/2007, -17/+35Krymore- Less than one month old account. 321 diggs. 321 anti-anti-islamonazism and anti-lgf. 321 pro moonbat diggs
- rightofatilla, on 10/12/2007, -11/+27Krymore, there's more to life than hate and beheading, figure it out.
- hiPpymIck, on 10/12/2007, -2/+16Weirdo Kulture Factoid ..... the country i grew up in
thinks its right, too - AdmiralAdama, on 10/12/2007, -3/+17Astounding to me that these people who probably pride in calling themselves "progressive" have given up their traditional role of supporting oppressed minorities -- in this case women in Middle East lands who are being killed for their family honor. Instead, they direct hatred and anger towards those who bring them this news. There is nothing "progressive" about closing your eyes to the oppression of women and non-Muslims in Muslim lands. Indeed, getting the news out about patriarchal societies that kill/oppress/enslave women used to be quite "progressive"
- fufubag, on 10/12/2007, -10/+24Krymore, I want my account audited! I don't agree with killing women! I hate the Muslim religion (as well as other religions). By the way, what is LGF?
- lowandslow, on 10/12/2007, -12/+26Do me next Krymore!
- nixonrichard, on 10/12/2007, -2/+16I think LGF is "Lion's Gate Films" don't ask me what it has to do with digg.
Oooooh, nm, it's "Little Green Footballs." They're a community of people who do stuff. - jlmillr2, on 10/12/2007, -6/+19Why is it that all of these stories provoke the same reaction from lefties? Instead of addressing the issue at hand, the digg Brownshirts cry racism.
Is it racist to say, "Honor killings are bad, and have no place in any civil, post-Enlightenment society, so bravo ladies! Keep fightin' for your right not to get knifed!"
If that's racism, then I guess I'm a bigot. - agimat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13@macistehbest
"can someone tell me when digg became a haven for anti-muslim news stories? im not a muslim but this ***** is getting lame..."
What would be anti-Muslim is claiming that any bad news that involves Muslims is anti-Muslim like they are all the same way.
You see bad-muslim-news more frequently because they seem to be in a roll these days. And it's not like someone made
this ***** up; ever wonder why we don't see any crazy Buddhist news on digg? - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -8/+21count how long my account was here,, let everyone know,, whaaa,, you mean that doesn't always scare people from having their say???
- Muyoso, on 10/12/2007, -9/+21The reason that there are more people here is because of the little expose that LGF did about how liberal Digg has become. Every single LGF story that has touched the frontpage of digg has been dugg down. If you search for michellemalkin in the search, you will see that EVERY SINGLE ONE of her stories have been buried. People are most likely pissed at this blatant abuse of Digg's bury feature, and have come here to show support for articles they care about. Is that not allowed? Is it OK for one political ideology to forcibly remove all opinion and articles from those with which they don't agree?
- PatrioticKiwi, on 10/12/2007, -3/+15@ MacIsTheBest
You'll notice that the title reads "Palestinian women". I don't find a description in the title or abstract that says Muslim or Islam, although there is probably a good chance that the people concerned are Muslims. - Taqiyyotomist, on 10/12/2007, -26/+38Krymore. We are here. Deal with it. We're not being paid, contrary to what your delusional mind tells you.
We are greatly interested in Jihad, and its societal implications. The press has been 'BURYING' any and all mention of Islamic insanity for too long now. These stories, though most do come from the press, are indeed Buried, on page 33 of the newspaper, if they even print them at all. Just because it's on the Reuters or AP wire doesn't mean the papers print it or the MSM outlets showcase it or even crawl it across the bottom of the screen. You and your digital brownshirts can continue the Orwellian practice of burying that which you deem offensive, improper thought. Keep in mind that I have the ability to un-Bury these stories now too. Why don't you go read LGF for a while, and see some of what's been buried by the press, and, more importantly, WHY. It's not a kook conspiracy site. It's not a hateful crowd, not by a longshot. The worst most say about irrational Liberals is 'Moonbat". Contrast that with the uttely venomous hate and acid pouring forth at DU, Kos, and many, many other sites.
You might want to direct your browser to more viewpoints than the little box you obviously currently occupy.
Try here...these are all Ex-Muslims, who are under threat of DEATH every single day:
www.faithfreedom.org
And read a few essays, and understand what real bravery is. It ain't Moore. It ain't Sheehan. Those people don't have a frikkin CLUE what bravery is.]
Regardless, you will see, someday soon, and you will look back and remember what the eeeeevil LGF people said years ago, when Islam was merely a murderous annoyance, only killing a few people a day worldwide. And you will be ashamed or yourself and your appeasing, ignorant, head-in-sand kind. - dshPls, on 10/12/2007, -4/+15"because digg is operated by zionists with a pro-Israel agenda."
Go back to politcal AM radio, tool. - nixonrichard, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13I certainly HOPE people hate honor killings.
- SheikYabouti, on 10/12/2007, -8/+19Try this one too Krybaby:
The Al-Fatiha Foundation is a member of an international grassroots network of organizations dedicated to Muslims who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, questioning, those exploring their sexual orientation or gender identity, and other sexual and gender minorities.
http://www.al-fatiha.org/ - PatrioticKiwi, on 10/12/2007, -3/+14@ pintomp3
Actually, "Honour Killings" are not necessarily always carried out by Muslims (though like terrorism, many obviously are). Admiraladama is doing an admirable job giving due attention to these barbaric crimes. - PatrioticKiwi, on 10/12/2007, -6/+17elebrio, exactly. I'll be the first to admit I'm not really with the LGF crowd on a lot of things because I do have deep reservations about the policies of the current US administration. However, it does seem very ironic that the lefties who moan the loudest about Muslim threads seem to have no problems with the target of attack happens to be the US, or Israel, or Christians. Islam just happens to be a topic you aren't allowed to touch without the kneejerk reaction.
- Donald2007, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13 by voxmusulman
There are no gay, bisexual, transgender, etc Muslims.

The New York Times has dubbed Irshad Manji “Osama Bin Laden’s worst nightmare.” She takes that as a compliment.Irshad is the best-selling author of The Trouble with Islam Today: A Muslim’s Call for Reform in Her Faith...In 1998, Irshad began producing and hosting QueerTelevision on Toronto’s Citytv. This was the world’s first program on commercial airwaves to explore the lives of gay and lesbian people.
Yes, she's a lesbian
http://www.muslim-refusenik.com/aboutirshad.html - Akaji, on 10/12/2007, -7/+17Digg only bans accounts which have been blocked by a large number of people.
Guess what gets you blocked? That's right. Hate. And you're full of it. - Muyoso, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12You didnt seem to have a problem when thinkprogress was PAYING people to do it. Having STAFF members exploit digg to get their website to the frontpage.
- elebrio, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12Peace achieved with an aggressor through dialogue is called surrender/submission.
- Muyoso, on 10/12/2007, -6/+15For the record, I am not nor even have been an "LGFer". I have read the stories about the gigantic bias and the very biased nature of Digg.com.
You want to see a magic trick?
Before:
http://digg.com/search?s=michellemalkin&submit=Search§ion=news&search-buried=1&type=url&area=all&age=30&sort=new
After:
http://digg.com/search?s=michellemalkin&submit=Search§ion=news&type=url&area=all&age=30&sort=new
165 stories in the past 30 days have been buried out of a total of 166. The ONLY reason that there is 1 story not buried, is because it was just added. THAT is bias. THAT is a group of diggers purposefully digging down any and all conservative thought. - Kolar, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11Is there anyway to post a story, that tries to show that a single culture, a single religion that for the most part is destroying lives, subjugation people into believing not only moral and ethical superiority but of their ethnicity.... and not be marked as hate speech by the masses?
I could really care less of the motives of people like AdmiralAdama (the digg user), he's either a left or right wing extremist but does that invalidate the issues here? This is not only a religious issue it's a cultural one. To discuss that you need to be out of your comfort zone, you're likely to insult or offend people and I think if we focus on picking apart what some kid over the internet thinks about it then we'll lose sight of what matters: 8 people are dead because a group of people believe it's okay to murder for honor, for saving face and apparently for talking out of turn and using a phone too much. Without claiming to be more civilized, ethical or moral could WE PLEASE focus on the issue and stop acting like we really care what others think? - synystar, on 10/12/2007, -8/+17"First of all, there is no "honour" in killing" The problem is that there is honor in killing. It's a matter of perception, unfortunately. These "crimes" happen in any society that "honour" such practices. Education is the answer.
- 1337Einstein, on 10/12/2007, -24/+32The LGF has had submitted to digg an enourmous volume of articles focused solely on projecting a single religion in a negative light. It is the only site with such a clearly bigotted message to add the "digg this" button in my memory, believe it or not, we might not care if it was the occasional pov story which criticises Islam, or any other religion, but for it to have such a focus on a single religion, and emitting an endless stream of hate towards that religion whether you think it is warranted or not, how could you be surprised at these stories getting dugg down. Stop spamming digg with bigotry, rather than simply passing these messages off as a legitimate political ideology.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+12sorry about you loosing your account,, all I did was cut and paste what you said in your last anti-jew rant, I believed you asked me too. BTW I didn't report you EriK someone else did, I was having too much fun arguing with you.
- jimmytheclaw, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9einstein
muslims project themselves in a bad light when was the last time christians, buhddist, hindus etc... rioted worldwide murdering people just because some obscure newspaper in europe published a few cartoons. i remember the piss christ debacle where at church we prayed for the artist. yes there are moderate muslims but islam itself from the prophet forward has not been. try this go over to thereligionofpeace.com print out there database i did 2 years ago and it was 92 pages of JIHAD murders since 9/11 murders done in the name of ALLAH or ISLAM. go read the sirat, sunnah, and ahadiths and understand the subject of all those tomes is considered perfect and a model for all mankind to follow. read about how mohammad had 600-900 prisoners of war beheaded read about how he gloated over the bodies. read how he married a 6 year old but was kind enough to wait till she was 9 to have sex with her. a lot of people like to point to saudi arabia and blame the wahabbists however they are only following mohammads dictates and deeds. learn how to seperate the meccan era and medina eras in the koran and you might see how its not mono in nature but dualistic everythings in there when week look at meccan suras (peaceful) when strong look at medina (war and hatred) then re-read after studying how abrogation works. - gotamd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7These "honor killings" are barbaric and need to stop. I don't care what religion or culture you are. I hope the people responsible are brought to justice.
- kurtwinter, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8My tolerance ends where your intolerance begins. We cannot maintain a society based on tolerance if we allow those who would decrease our freedom and liberty to manipulate our "sensitivities" to institutionalize misogyny and theocracy.
I think that it is fair to say that the community here is opposed to religious extremism, of all kinds. Just as there are Eric Rudolphs out there blowing up abortion clinics for religious reasons, there are people from many religions committing the worst form of atrocities to promote their religious beliefs.
The irony is that many of the people digging the news about the wacko islamics out there are also supporting the kind of people who run pentocostal Jesus camps.
Just don't forget that while pentecostals are moonbat crazy, they are not engaged in ethnic cleansing in the Sudan, they did not impose religious law, nor do they foster a community in which criminals are hidden from justice. Just an observation. Also, we still might be a little raw about something that happened in New York 6 years ago, and those minor events in London and Madrid a short time ago. Just an observation. - kolobcreek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Puts a whole new spin on "Return with Honor". I guess the Muslims say it differently "Return with Honor or Else".
- desertdweller, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7More of the same in Pakistan.. http://www.dawn.com/2007/02/24/top7.htm
- elebrio, on 10/12/2007, -4/+10What good does silencing ONE side do in that case?
I ascribe to the Hegelian view: Thesis + Antithesis -- > Synthesis.
Your recipe sounds like surrender. - sa7ouri, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8This has nothing to do with religion. Purely cultural (and wrong).
- LilianD, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Instead of burying genuine news items about islamist violence, here's a challenge for you: just digg just as many stories about violence christian, hindu , jewish and buddhist violence. I'm certainly opposed to violence, and interested in people who justify their evil deeds with religious excuses. For some reason, islam seems to come up a lot recently.
A story is not anti-muslim because it discusses muslim violence *justified* in the criminal's mind by islamic teachings. This is an important issue. - r4dius, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6I am consistently amazed at how Diggers, as a whole, defy the percentages and manage to maintain an impressive savvy with regard to morality and injustice. It's truly heartening, to be honest.
To label a story about empowered Muslim women in Palestine as "anti-Islam" is akin to labeling an open discussion about the Iraq war as "anti-American". Sorry, but it's just plain hypocritical. - Mousse, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6@voxmusulman

- bsmeteronhigh, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I think that the women should have picked up arms and killed the men in the family. The men's silence is tantamount to approval. The gals should give as good as they get. The women will be killed one by one, anyway.
- Rookie2, on 10/12/2007, -11/+15Wow, Einstein... what do you think about the news at hand? 8 women killed by their own family, because RELIGION told them so. Maybe that religion needs reforming, and if not succesfull, banned all together. Where do you see propaganda here? You are the biggots, if it was about some other religion you'll digg that news like crazy...
