The dad owes a "friend" money. Rather than pay money, the guy gets to "marry" the girl. when the girl comes of age she will be his wife, who is required to serve him both sexually and domestically. Since its Saudi Arabia the chances of her ever getting "out" of said marriage is slim - no divorces, she can't leave the country, she can't do anything without her husbands permission.

I can understand how girls IN puberty or just outside of it ( I'm not saying I condone it, but simply that I can wrap my head around it), but why, for any reason, would you want to marry a girl that you would basically be raising (could that be an appeal, raising a wife how you see fit?)
