- prompel, on 06/07/2009, -10/+102I, for one, welcome our new jellyfish overlords.
- redcolumbine, on 06/07/2009, -7/+77That's beautiful! Seriously, a few stakes, some rope, and a damned good grasp of geometry, and a small team could do it.
- FMSfreebies, on 06/07/2009, -0/+40damn this just got to digg? This news is from 3 days ago. Since then, another has shown up.
http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_basraNod1Ms/SipGbx1UvbI/ ... - einrobstein, on 06/07/2009, -3/+40You're a moron if you think they would communicate via jellyfish designs in fields.
- TheUberGamer, on 06/07/2009, -1/+34Who says it was just one person?
- Pinkertinkle, on 06/07/2009, -0/+28That would have been awesome.
- BaphClass, on 06/07/2009, -2/+28If this really was the work of aliens, and not just an extremely coordinated prank, why don't we start writing our own messages in crops? Something along the lines of "If you're going to commit vandalism, can you at least do it on concrete? Or something else that we don't eat? Thanks, Earth."
- lanemik, on 06/07/2009, -1/+25Anyone know where this is located? I'll go get some first-hand pics of it.
EDIT: found it, Kingstone Coombes near the Uffington White Horse. I think I can get out there in the next few days. Cool. - FadieZ, on 06/07/2009, -1/+25Next step, FSM crop circle.
- lanemik, on 06/07/2009, -2/+24You'd almost have to be a student of some kind. Maybe a math student at some sort of major university. I'm trying to think of somewhere like that in Oxfordshire but I'm drawing a blank. Anyhelp?
- MichaelMnb, on 06/07/2009, -2/+21Someone has too much free time on their hands. At least it wasn't a giant penis.
- Hartley1942, on 06/07/2009, -0/+17Its a dragonfly dude
- inactive, on 06/08/2009, -1/+16Who doesn't?
- shotgunefx, on 06/07/2009, -3/+18You're a moron if you believe an advanced civilization is attempting to communicate with us via trodden grass after traveling light years to get here.
- lanemik, on 06/07/2009, -4/+18[citation needed]
- DDme, on 06/07/2009, -1/+14http://news.bbc.co.uk/newsbeat/hi/newsbeat/newsid_ ...
- viper001, on 06/07/2009, -1/+14How anyone can draw with such accuracy at a massive scale is amazing. It must have taken a lot of work, but it's worth it.
- lanemik, on 06/07/2009, -5/+17Hey, party pooper, who asked you?
- DDme, on 06/07/2009, -0/+12lol how can you not see it's a dragonfly
- trafficlight, on 06/07/2009, -0/+11Where can I get one of those fancy looking Crop Circle Testers?
- inkswamp, on 06/07/2009, -3/+13Why? It would just get buried.
- zomgorly, on 06/07/2009, -1/+11I am digging this for the awesome jellyfish design and not the crazy this is earth/aliens communicating with us.
- Grolsch, on 06/07/2009, -1/+10Some of them look pretty damn complicated to be done overnight even with a group of people.
But if all of them are man made, those are pretty impressive - inactive, on 06/07/2009, -2/+11Aliens are REAL!! and they are Artists.
- devansega, on 06/08/2009, -0/+8I think you mean Cambridge. Hope that helps.
- FMSfreebies, on 06/07/2009, -0/+7wait... well how would they know the english language? Its true that it seems kind of dumb that they would be communicating through designs in fields, but your logic is not correct.
- protodon, on 06/08/2009, -0/+7Do you have a helicopter??
- tullinator121, on 06/07/2009, -3/+10Nah you don't have to know anything more than high school geometry really, it would just take a long time to figure out beforehand
- devansega, on 06/08/2009, -0/+6Reminds me of an old air force tale about a farmer who painted "***** OFF R.A.F" in huge letters on a barn roof as he was sick of low flying harriers blasting overhead. The result was a ten fold increase as every plane for miles around made detours to check it out. This may be apocryphal as I heard it in a mess.
- FMSfreebies, on 06/07/2009, -0/+6yeah its pretty obvious its a dragonfly. It doesn't look quite as perfect as the jellyfish though.
- govtdoesnotwork, on 06/08/2009, -0/+6They did it for the Firefox logo...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l_KXhf1BI-k - JeffDUpp, on 06/07/2009, -4/+10I think your aluminum foil hat is blocking the electromagnetic energy of your brain.
- LucidHawk, on 06/07/2009, -2/+8Agreed the evidence from "real" crop circles that something weird has been going on is overwhelming.
But then.. I've waist deep into the topics of UFOs and crop circles for awhile. The average person doesn't spend hundreds of hours looking over detailed scientific studies on crop circles to know any better.
The easiest way to tell if a crop circle is real, almost right off the bat is the bend of the plant. If essentially 100% of the plants are bent without any evidence of tears or breaks (down to a microscopic level) then it's the real deal. If this is the case the other common trace elements will be there such as altered plant dna and electromagnetic effects. The average faked crop circle will be obvious , a large portion of the plants will be very obviously torn at the bend from the force of those who pushed the plants down. - Curbe, on 06/07/2009, -1/+6at 1:30..... she just had to go there
- themastersb, on 06/07/2009, -0/+5England always seems to get crop circles and then Mexico always seems to get everything else paranormal.
- maximilen, on 06/08/2009, -2/+7No, crop circles are just Chuck Norris' way of telling the world that sometimes corn needs to lie the ***** down.
- DDme, on 06/07/2009, -2/+7*making notes*
- stonebear, on 06/08/2009, -0/+5This one really bugs me for some reason.
- 1337Czar, on 06/07/2009, -1/+5I hope i wasnt the only person who just read "820 foot long jellyfish" and then was like "omg no way a jellyfish 820 foot long? i gotta see this!" Only to realize that it was a crop circle...
- bashnu, on 06/08/2009, -0/+4Next to the tin foil section.
- govtdoesnotwork, on 06/08/2009, -1/+5You mean this wasn't one??
- censormagnet, on 06/08/2009, -1/+5truth is stranger than fiction
- Cint, on 06/07/2009, -0/+4The point is that he's fascinated with the Pythagorean theorem, I think. Even after understanding them, mathematical proofs can still be amazing things.
- inactive, on 06/08/2009, -0/+4no but they still teach math at school rather than teaching you how to pass a math test.
- chrisgnv, on 06/07/2009, -0/+3Definitely looks like it. http://loot-ninja.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/10/f ...
- stonebear, on 06/08/2009, -2/+5Man made circles have either secrecy or quality, and so far have never achieved both. Genuine crop circles are high quality, and appear quite abruptly; usually overnight, with at least one documented to have been made in less than 3 hours. Crop circles often seem to reference celestial events, and this particular circle is thought to reference the solar eclipse due on July 4, which will be penumbral in England. The jellyfish may simply be a play on the word penumbra, as the main body resembles an umbrella, and the tentacles are pendant. The maker does speak English, apparently, and perhaps has a sense of humor.
- inactive, on 06/08/2009, -1/+4you mean they can fly between the stars but they haven't discovered how to use the radio?
- protodon, on 06/08/2009, -0/+3I have 2 questions:
1. How come all of these crop circles are in the UK. Is there some kind of crop circle school?
2. Why do we find things like this amazing, if supposedly people can make these crop circles
overnight?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nazca_Lines - TheTikiTony, on 06/08/2009, -1/+4Gimme a break, he's not causing that much damage himself taking pictures, as long as he's not an ass and doesn't break down every stalk in his way, the problem is inconsiderate people who flock to see it and don't have any respect for the land or the owner.
On that note, he could always go give the owner some money and say "Hey mind if i take a few pictures? I'll be careful." Common courtesy ya know? -
