- roostersheep, on 07/09/2009, -2/+62What I really love about Britain was displayed the very next day. People were standing at the bus stop waiting for the replacement bus (and probably complaining that it's late!) to get to work. It just goes to show that no matter how hard a bunch of misguided fools try to scare us, it's not going to work against us Brits. I love this country!
- Amorn, on 07/09/2009, -4/+24Rot in hell, terrorist scum
- apjoseph, on 07/09/2009, -1/+19I was on the train before the one that was attacked in Liverpool Street. I walked home that evening - from Liverpool Street to East Ham. The next day, I took my usual tube to work. These terrorists may have done a little to cause a stir, but they will never get to hurt London and its people.
I remember the journey to work - yes, it was a little quieter than usual, but it did not stop our lives from going on. It did not break us, and it will never break us. London lost innocent lives that day, and I hope their families will heal soon from their tragic loss. The terrorist scums will never win.
You know what terrorist, I, like the 3 million other Londoners, still take the Tube everyday. - swmbuk, on 07/09/2009, -5/+22Only thing I hate more than terrorists is stupid ***** that watch Youtube videos and then think they know the truth and no one else does. I mean if CNN, BBC and everything else can be so wrong, why can't some fat dude in his Mum's basement be wrong on Youtube?
- powatom, on 07/09/2009, -2/+19PRIVATE CCTV cameras. It's not our fault that businesses want to film the public space outside their buildings.
- poidh, on 07/09/2009, -2/+17Because the blast went through the floor the got deflected back upwards?
- ozroy, on 07/09/2009, -0/+14That spirit unfortunately does not stop the politicians from being just as retarded though.
- adventureindia, on 07/08/2009, -1/+15never seen these photographs before
- AmnesiacJack, on 07/09/2009, -0/+11Didn't you hear? The bomber climbed out a side window and crawled under the tram as it was speeding through the tunnels.
- dsmx, on 07/09/2009, -0/+11Since most people in the UK have lived through the IRA bombings I fail to see why bombing london would do much to stop people.
- gills62ca, on 07/09/2009, -1/+11I admired the spirit of Londoners so much after this attack. Instead of falling apart and wailing, they were back at their usual activities the next day, taking the bus and Tube and even making macabre jokes. They're tough-minded folks, and gallant. Hats off to you all.
- flashingcurser, on 07/09/2009, -0/+10"I don't see how the terrorist acts in London were cowardly or despicable."
STFU - inactive, on 07/09/2009, -8/+17You're right, multiple witnesses saw Elvis sneaking onto the train with a bomb and a cheeseburger right before it exploded! Only reason we've never been told is because the Illuminati orchestrated a cover-up from from their moon-base using their orbital mind control lasers targeted by reptilians (cunningly disguised as prominent politicians) acting as forward observers!
/s - powatom, on 07/09/2009, -0/+9We're used to it in England. Bomb scares were pretty common in the 90s. Hell, actual terrorist attacks were 'pretty common' by today's standards really. The US hasn't had the terrorist activity that the UK has had over the years, so it's no real surprise that the yanks tend to panic more. I guess we're just more geared towards dealing with the situation rather than wondering what to do. We've had the practice, after all!
- Bowd99, on 07/09/2009, -0/+7I had about a dozen emails from people overseas after 7/7 checking that everyone they knew in London was alright. I had to tell every single one of them, "We could walk out of our houses and be struck by lightning, or we could be crossing the road and get hit by a car, so a couple of wankers with home-made explosives aren't going to deter us from getting on with our lives".
Of course it's a terrible tragedy that people died (my best friend was on the Russell Square tube, but thankfully escaped unharmed) but what would be more of a tragedy is if we allowed these people's deaths to instill fear into us and turn us into a nation of people too afraid to come out of their houses into the big, bad world. It may happen again, but as long as Londoner's keep the resolve they showed after this event, we have nothing to fear at all. - roostersheep, on 07/09/2009, -1/+8What is it you're suggesting?
- pathouston22, on 07/09/2009, -1/+8Did you know your breathing and eating, just like 6 BILLION other humans? Keep marching in line.
- RetepNamenots, on 07/09/2009, -0/+7You make it seem like we have some sort of say in this.
- boogieordie, on 07/09/2009, -3/+10In 2007, I lived on Tavistock Square in Connaught Hall at UCL for a short bit, which is exactly where the bus exploded. I knew this when I was there, but it's still freaky to see a place a spent a lot of time at in a state like that.
I was there for the car bomb scare, and it seemed to barely phase anyone in the city. First I heard of it was my mom calling from the States panicking. God, Londoners are fantastic, I can't wait to go back. - ohreilly, on 07/09/2009, -0/+6This might be offtopic, but it's a shame that a few threats have caused the Labour Government to operate in the way they have (pointless laws, stop and searches, etc)
You didn't see Thatcher/Major operate in the same way. For example, an IRA bomb nearly killed Thatcher (at a party conference) - her government's response was to convince some shops to open a bit earlier than normal so people could replace their clothes and her speech went on as planned. That's how it should be.
I heard that under the Major government, a few CCTV cameras were put up (and Labour put quite a few more up but not "millions") and bins were taken away as they were one less place for the IRA to stick their bombs. - okidda, on 07/08/2009, -0/+6gosh
- coopa, on 07/09/2009, -0/+6Indeed - i used to come to London regularly to visit my dad during the 90's and the IRA bomb scares were weekly events - and the bombs were fairly regular too. I can only remember once that my mom didnt want my young brother and I to visit London because of the scares.

I know, ***** sheeple.
I don't even eat because that's just what the government wants you to do so they can collect their 15% tax on it. - andyb747, on 07/09/2009, -1/+6"maybe thousands of people died"
I think it was already established there were 2,974 victims - LokitheComplex, on 07/09/2009, -0/+5So ViscidGobs how do you solve "systemic societal racist underpinning that Brits refuse to admit exists"?
Ethnic and racial tensions are a problem all over the world. I don't see how the British are going to be especially better at it than anywhere else. Or do you think the British are going to be somehow better at for some reason?
Please remember that the UK has a high rate of inter racial marriage. - davzie, on 07/09/2009, -0/+5***** off. And they're MP5s
- GeorgeStone2, on 07/09/2009, -1/+6What the hell are you jabbering on about?
Also, I don't think Uzis are standard issue firearms.... - GeorgeStone2, on 07/09/2009, -2/+7Our government can't even keep their expenses secret. They certainly couldn't keep the government sponsored killing of 26 of its citizens a secret.
- malloryhoke, on 07/09/2009, -0/+5truly chilling images- what an awful attack.
- poidh, on 07/09/2009, -0/+4"Instill terror into the hearts of the unbelievers."
- GeorgeStone2, on 07/09/2009, -2/+6going to www.sevensevenWasAnInsideJob.org and taking everything they say as fact doesn't count as research.
The same way the conspiracy theorists tell you that quoting official documents isn't research. - LokitheComplex, on 07/09/2009, -2/+6Didn't the bombs make the people believe that the war on terror was NOT working. It did not make people happier with the war on terror.
So are you saying all the Jihadists in the UK are fake? All the people jailed for attempted attacks are really organised by the Police?
There are enough UK Muslims that hate the UK and willing to do this or are all the people that wave banners saying "Death To The West" secret agents of MI5?
You must have an amazing faith the abilities of intelligence agencies to organise themselves. - GeorgeStone2, on 07/09/2009, -1/+5We're pretty logical.
The logic behind getting on the trains the next day was "lightning doesn't strike twice". - DiggyWiggy, on 07/09/2009, -2/+5Just because it makes perfect sense doesn't make it true. If this was really more than just a coincidence, the mainstream media would tell us the truth, because they love us and only want the best for us.
Also, the Commissions would have uncovered this kind of evidence and shown it to us in a factual and unbiased way, implicating all those involved.
And, if there were some kind of secret, how could it be kept by all those people, with only a few whistleblowers coming out (probably lying)? Don't you know there's no such thing as government secrets or cover-ups? They get to the bottom of the truth so we don't have to waste so much time doing our own research. That's why I wuv you, Big Bwother.
BAM, Debunked!!! - GeorgeStone2, on 07/09/2009, -2/+5Convenient? What does that have to do with anything?
How does something being convenient have an impact on its value as evidence?
The answer is that it doesn't. Convenient is just what conspiracy theorists say when they're stuck.
For example the Grandparent post. He says "In the first picture it looks like the blast came from *under* the floor - how is that possible?"
Well that's his extremely uninformed opinion on the subject.
Is he an expert in fluid dynamics? Does he know exactly how an explosion reacts in such conditions? No.
He looks at a picture and from his limited (Zero) knowledge of the subject and gives an uninformed opinion which is then linked to and used in a circle jerk of misinformation that makes up these conspiracy theories. - thegrantman, on 07/09/2009, -3/+6Throw some flying monkeys in there and you got yourself a goddamn deal.
- 1x253, on 07/09/2009, -2/+5I'm not agreeing with T4m, but you really stand out as an example of reasoned logic. I mean, seriously... they way you took everything he said point by point and meticulously and objectively tore it asunder was just awe inspiring. Thank God for diggers like you who bring the level of discourse up several notches. I like what you said so much, it merits posting a second time:
"You're wrong in the same way that bat-***** insane people usually are."
Your precision and insight are a thing to be admired. - falafelkiosken, on 07/09/2009, -7/+10put on your tinfoil hat again, they might be on to you
- Mark1981, on 07/09/2009, -2/+5Dugg for making sense.
- LokitheComplex, on 07/09/2009, -0/+3Actually Thatcher banned the broadcast of the voices of terrorists at the end of the 80s.
- Bidger, on 07/09/2009, -3/+6Because this time the state needed an excuse to steal our liberties. During the IRA troubles Mrs T was a small state and freedom supporter, Now we have a bunch of peti-hitters who want to control everyone's lives.
- powatom, on 07/09/2009, -0/+3Exactly what I say to people, Bowd99. Anything can happen - there's no point worrying about things you can't change. All you can do is keep on your toes and be ready to do what needs to be done if the unthinkable happens.
- GeorgeStone2, on 07/09/2009, -0/+2I just call them morons :D
- Electric_Sheep, on 07/09/2009, -3/+5That theory was debunk'd. The guy was in a room with a table, projector and about 10 people for a private company showing them what to do in the event of a terrorist attack. He does these things most days. It isn't a shock that he was running a projection of a similar scenario.
- CaptCarrot, on 07/09/2009, -0/+2I think surviving the Nazi blitz has genetically made Brits a hardier bunch.
- hplasm, on 07/09/2009, -0/+2My arse. Google that.
- LokitheComplex, on 07/09/2009, -0/+2It was a pointless effort really. But you can understand they were anger.
It was both sides that were banned but people only remembered Gerry Adams.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UOUeauLWEaE - Pssdoff, on 07/09/2009, -4/+6Or he could be suggesting that you do research on the subject and reach the correct conclusion based on all available evidence...
- stonebear, on 07/09/2009, -1/+3Your view of evolution might be a bit naive.
