- dunnylovehun, on 10/28/2007, -2/+68"Bridge collapse" is probably going to crack the top 6 any day now, but the only reason the incident in Minneapolis was reported so frantically is because there was good video of the destruction. There's no good video of people dying of Tuberculosis, so it goes unreported, or as the articles says: "A Stones concert for TB just doesn't sound very sexy."
- DrvThruPnk, on 10/28/2007, -5/+62Bears.
- davidjunit, on 10/10/2007, -3/+56I think I'm mostly scared of the people in charge of this country regardless of what party they're from.
- letaalio, on 10/10/2007, -27/+70I don't like where you Americans are going with this fear stuff. You are scared of everything and everyone and someone can tell you what you should be afraid of and most of the time you are. Stop being such a sheeple nation and think for yourselves
- kprooney, on 10/28/2007, -10/+47that's what I was thinking, after 9/11 Bush is worried about Gay Marriage destroying America? gimme a break
- noahhoward, on 10/10/2007, -7/+42He's answered some of these with hype from the other side.
And as for gas prices. Our gas may cost half but the average commuter here has a lot further to go and a lot less in the way of transit alternatives. It doesn't do much to say your gas costs twice as much when your country is the size of a smallish state. - fancycwabs, on 10/10/2007, -5/+36Buried. Why the disrespect for RC Cola?
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -3/+33The 6 most under-rated threats to America:
6) Environmental Pollution
5) Anti-Intellectualism
4) Theocratic Influence in Government
3) Emotional Immaturity (including sexual mores)
2) Fiat money as created by the Federal Reserve:
and the number one under-rated threat to the Unites States of America:
1) The squandering of American know-how. - rhabd0mancer, on 10/28/2007, -2/+30Bears with projectile diarrhea.
- noahhoward, on 10/10/2007, -13/+41Americans don't like where you Others are going with this bash america stuff.
Generalisations are fun. - Zippo, on 10/28/2007, -1/+25Strangely enough, gay marriage hasn't destroyed any of the countries it's legal in.
- Zipko, on 10/10/2007, -4/+27Your mom
- slayerab, on 10/10/2007, -2/+24Wow, I didn't think cracked had an ounce of serious tone in them, but this was a good read a lot of Americans should see.
- felman87, on 10/10/2007, -5/+24I wonder what pandemic we'll be worrying about next year. Monkey Pox anyone?
- arbulus, on 10/10/2007, -3/+20I'm an American, and I agree completely with you. The culture of fear that has permeated our society is deporable. Every day, ***** is fed to us from the Administration about how there a "possible" terrorist threat, or a "terrorist dry run" for a plane bombing, or Al Qaeda, or how Iraqi insurgents are going to mass an invasion force and attack America. It's all ***** to keep feeding the machine that Bush has created. He wants every excuse he can get to destroy our Constitution, our rights and our way of life, but he can't do it unless he has something to manipulate us with. But our congress members won't do anything because they work for lobbyists, PACs, and big corporations, not the people.

- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -2/+13Most overhyped threat to america according to digg, thinking differently than the digg crowd.
- rizla420, on 10/10/2007, -1/+11You know, the people in charge dont scare me. Its the people around me everyday who are clueless that scare me. Lets imagine a flock of sheep, your a black sheep in the flock and you know by now what the farmers up to and dont want to get coralled so that he can move you to your holding pen. Your trying to get out of the herd, but the herd is so immense that you can make it out and your herded along into your pen. Alas, it sucks being aware when your surrounded by mindless people. "Ignorance is bliss".
- LogicBomB, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9Fear: 1

Seriously, the news is no longer news but a giant FUD compaign to keep citizens compliant while the government breaks the law "for your safety". - dinki, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8Whoa, they missed the most obvious: Global warming is caused by humans and can be controlled by paying carbon offsets.
- CheckPlease, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9#1 real threat: dumb people voting.
Really, if you voted for the current prick-in-office, please just sit the next few elections out, as you apparently don't have this "democracy" thing down yet. - falstaff, on 10/10/2007, -3/+11Sharks with frickin' laser beams attached to their heads.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -6/+14Watch it... We've blown up larger countries than yours for LESS.
- rgaino, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8Dugg for the Nickelback joke.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -2/+10Of course they exist, their leader is in the White House.
- UrbanOne, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7(Not showing support for or against any candidates, but, in support of the gay marriage part of the article:)
“If there’s any pastor here who can point out a marriage that has been broken up as a consequence of seeing two men or two women holding hands, then you should tell me, because I haven’t seen any evidence of it.”
- Barack Obama, speaking to a group of ministers. - shanimal, on 10/10/2007, -4/+11Sorry, but letaalio's preaching to the choir. Most of the Americans here on Digg are actually very out-spoken about our dislike of the Neo-Cons who are driving the fear-mongering war machine to destroy everything that's not on their agenda.
So who's the one not using logic, here? *ducks from the bury brigade* - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8Sorry, I'm having tuna for breakfast.
- DurangoSteve, on 10/10/2007, -2/+9Not all americans think that Chavez is a good man . I think that he is dangerous too. But your point about our dollar being "halved" I think is over stated. By the way your "blow him" comment takes away your creditability.
- robisfunky, on 10/10/2007, -8/+15 Who cares what your ass thinks about OUR country. A quick tour of the political threads right here on Digg will show you we have A LOT of various opinons. Sheeple? Hardly. Just what amazing country are you hailing from to be so smug and self righteous? (I'm inclined to say France, but I won't...Oops I just did)
- SOS84, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7All joking aside, that article could not be more on the money. The interesting thing about bird flu is that when you look a little closer at the piece of evidence used to scare the bejesus out of people (Spanish outbreak), a pandemic appears highly unlikely, at least in the developed world. During the Spanish pandemic, the flu only killed a few thousand people. Pneumonia caused by the flu killed the vast majority who died. When you realize that Europe, Spain included, was still rebuilding from WWI, had very little hospital capacity compared to today and far fewer medical professionals, the fear of a pandemic washes away very easily.
- Elranzer, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6FTA: "Judging by the track record of outed child-stroker Mark Foley and outed male prostitute-stroker Ted Haggard, the foes of gay marriage are the ones who are far more likely to try to sodomize your dog."
And they're always Republican. And not the moderate RINO Arnold Schwarzenegger kind. - tokyomonster, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7FINALLY someone gets it right about Iran and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. The guy can say all he wants, he himself is no real threat. He's all bark, and no bite.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6Seriously. Do you really want a pic of that?
- onefreakykid, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6http://www.dhmo.org/
- DirtySnachez, on 10/10/2007, -2/+8they'll blow him.... AWAY ! WITH MISSILZ AN *****
- nick111, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7So are Americans the most frightened nation on Earth?
- thumperings, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6seriously he's right. sit down.
- conbot, on 10/10/2007, -3/+8You forgot that many people die in america each year due to our crappy healthcare system.
- 2reflective, on 10/10/2007, -2/+7Now don't go asking sensible questions like that. You'll be branded a terrorist!
- TheCooler72, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Wow! Cracked sure has changes since I was a kid.
Now I am getting my news from a comedy show, and my social commentary from the people that brung us Sylvester P. Smyth. - c2kris, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5which Indians are you guys talking about. I'm from India and I live in USA. I don't know about any Indians getting free food and medical care from Chavez.
and from where did these "stupid sick starving Indians" come out ? - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6100% correct on all counts - DUGG.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Hey, don't look at me, those aren't liberals, those are freaks. Next you'll be telling me that Bush and his ilk are "conservatives." Ha, sure.
