Okay, I got nothin. - visionaryIX, on 04/10/2008, -16/+105Anything that involves 50 Cent getting owned is good news.
- arcticblue, on 04/10/2008, -5/+58There be some hard core gangstas up in here diggin' everybody down, yo.
Anyway, yeah, "gangsta" rap sucks. This reminds me of an amusing anecdote. My wife and I were shopping for a new 360 game about a year and a half ago. On the shelf, they had King Kong and right next to it was 50 cent's piece of ***** game. The King Kong cover has a huge picture of King Kong and the 50 cent cover has a huge picture of 50 cent's "angry face". My wife, being Japanese and new to culturally diverse California, pointed to the two games and exclaimed quite loudly, "Look! Brothers! Hahahaha!". It was pretty embarrassing for me, but it was funny. - BinaryFragger, on 04/10/2008, -3/+49Enough with these "front page with x diggs?" comments!!
- Gemfinder, on 04/10/2008, -13/+50Good for him. Gangsta rap is worse than disco and country music combined.
- karaokekidd, on 04/10/2008, -1/+35Dugg for nerd with asian wife.
- Pirataholic, on 04/10/2008, -9/+41Good, maybe now I don't have to hear any more "gangsta" repetitive crap
- helraizr, on 04/10/2008, -16/+46That music is crap anyways. Who cares.
- VarelseSoul, on 04/10/2008, -9/+36I'm not racist. But, I do look at facts.
I've never said every black person was bad. But, I can look around downtown Pittsburgh and see a growing trend. The majority of blacks dress and act gangster. They're loud, vulgar and violent. While there are many white people that put off this image as well, it's not the majority. I was standing at the bus stop today, and two black girls randomly started chewing out a white girl they DIDN'T even know. Why? They didn't like her boobs.
I try not to think in terms of white and black, but if you notice a pattern in a group and make a conclusion about it, it's almost science. - cyssero, on 04/18/2009, -3/+30While I agree to an extent killq, I don't believe black people as a whole are a "joke". You have to recognise it's not all black people and only some who are contributing to violent crime. And it's not fair to think they just got themselves into this situation, they've been in a vicious cycle for a long time that's hard to break from.
- EpicSelekta, on 04/10/2008, -4/+30Totally bogus lawsuit by a woman wanting more money because her kid got his ass kicked. I agree with charging the people who actually committed the assault, but bringing the label into it is stupid. It's like suing Columbia Records because Pink Floyd promoted drug use.
- praisethelard, on 06/06/2008, -7/+33Right, because every black person signs a waiver saying "This is my culture, and I approve."
- inactive, on 04/10/2008, -6/+28Mainstream new hip hop is.
- FurtThePirate, on 04/10/2008, -1/+22That's ***** hilarious!
- inactive, on 04/10/2008, -36/+54Black people will never be taken seriously in this country until they own up to the fact that their culture causes a majority of the violent crime in this country even though they are a minority. Own up or continue to be a joke for another couple hundred years.
- supermanred, on 04/10/2008, -3/+21Here's one thought for you:
One story has 40 diggs and 0 buries.
Another has 800 diggs and 760 buries so therefore has 40 diggs
Guess which one might make it to the front page, especially if they both got to their "40 diggs" in 2 hours?
Now shut up and let the ***** web site just work. If there WAS no algorithm, and the site simply cleared out 1 week old stories, every day would be a top 10 of Ron Paul and pictures of lolcats.... so shut .... the.... *****...... up!!! - foolishwolf, on 04/10/2008, -2/+19Shouldn't they be suing them for pushing ***** music? Just a thought.
- praisethelard, on 06/06/2008, -1/+18"Posturing an image to sell records."
Pop (radio) music in general. Hell, even independent bands maintain some sort of image. - WazzaInc, on 04/10/2008, -2/+15Thank you world
- bbqsalad, on 04/10/2008, -11/+24Own up? Its not black people its ***** poverty and drug abuse. Our government tosses trillions on fixing iraq rather than fix our own country. How about our completely worthless government owns up and does something for its own people rather than ***** them whenever possible? Clean up the ghetto. Stop throwing people in jail for drugs and wasting tax dollars, how about actually helping them?
- VarelseSoul, on 04/10/2008, -3/+16I'm not denying that's ever happened at all, but I've never personally seen it. I've seen plenty of douchebags in Pittsburgh, believe me. But, I've never came across a bunch of white kids yelling "I HAVE A GUN, AND HE HAS A GUN AND SO DOES HE. YOU THINK YOU'RE GANGSTER ENOUGH TO TAKE IT?"
Now, I'm from a small town originally. When I see 4 big black guys dressed "hood" and waving around guns, I get piss scared. This has happened on more than one occasion.
Like I said, I try not to be racist. I have plenty of black friends at school and a few black teachers. I've had conversations with them about this, and they AGREE with me. So, I feel comfortable with my point of view. - inactive, on 04/10/2008, -1/+14About ***** time. So sick of the gangsta subculture and their wannabe lemmings.
- cmallinson, on 04/10/2008, -2/+15It's not only the amount of diggs. It's a lot of other things that promote stories to the front page. Perhaps the distribution of diggs over a wide geographical area, or over short periods of time increase the probability..
- Ajajadude, on 04/10/2008, -2/+14The problem is that, as far as society is concerned, the "thug" life is distasteful and nothing short of a black mark on society. I hear about how they're stuck in a vicious cycle and blah blah blah. Well, change is hard and takes a lot of effort. But, I don't see an overwhelming majority speaking out for change which means they're either condoning this sort of lifestyle or they're apathetic (which is just as bad).
Notice how white supremacy and the KKK has fallen out of favor with societal norms? It's not because over time it went away, it's because "white" society stopped tolerating that kind of *****. - leamanc, on 04/10/2008, -3/+15No joke. "I used to know the Digg algorithm and abused it all the time and now I can't. Wahhhhhh!"
- leamanc, on 04/10/2008, -5/+17"I used to know the Digg algorithm and abused it all the time and now I can't. Wahhhhhh!"
- solidus636, on 04/10/2008, -1/+12*Sometimes political INcorrectness is...correct.
- MrZop, on 04/10/2008, -0/+11They Do, It just doesn't get played on MTV or the radio.
- richardiscool, on 04/10/2008, -3/+13I'm not a racist, some of my best friends know black people!
- arcticblue, on 04/10/2008, -3/+13Drugs are expensive. They could save the money they're wasting on drugs and use that to improve their lives. Hmm....
- praisethelard, on 06/06/2008, -1/+10Total crap? People are digging this stuff, and no one is forcing them to. It's popular demand. It's not like the submitter is getting any advertising money out of this submission, either. It's linked straight to the source.
- haikuFU, on 04/10/2008, -2/+11Part of my family is black. The kids are ***** brainwashed by this ***** music, this "thug culture" as Bill Cosby calls it. This culture mostly exists only in the black community, which is why blacks are stereotyped as criminals. Stereotypes usually have some truth to them, whether we like it or not. I live in a city with skyrocketing crime rates, and guess who's committing most of them, black people. The white people have domestics and get busted dealing week. The murders and home invasions are always black people.
I'm not blaming black people, I'm blaming the "thug culture". This thug culture does nothing but perpetuate the stereotype, and it's killing the black community. This ***** needs to stop. My sister in law can't even trust her own son because he steals money, and her belongings and sells them. He ditches school, smokes the herb, stole a car, runs away, and he's only 14. - Phil8, on 04/10/2008, -4/+13FTA: "The lawsuit filed by James Rosemond and his mother, Cynthia Reed, says Universal Music Group -- owned by Vivendi SA -- and its labels Interscope Records, G-Unit Records and Shady Records, bear responsibility for the assault because they encourage artists to pursue violent, criminal lifestyles."
Might as well sue country artists for promoting sleeping with your sister. - solidus636, on 04/10/2008, -1/+9Judging by how you talk, so are you.
- VarelseSoul, on 04/10/2008, -2/+10THANK YOU.
Has everyone forgotten the definition of personal responsibility? Do it for yourself, no one wants to do it for you. - inactive, on 04/10/2008, -1/+9It's funny how we call it "politcal incorrectness", and then fail to realize that a whole industry called "marketing" is based on it stereotyping.
- inactive, on 04/10/2008, -1/+9"Black people will never be taken seriously."
Right, because Obama is a ***** joke..
/not
If you went outside once in a while and got out of your neighborhood made up of 90% Caucasians, you'd know there's a lot of progressive black people out there. Stop embarrasing yourself with the ignorance. - phazon88, on 04/10/2008, -3/+11What a load of crap. Violent crime directly corresponds with poverty. You should be putting blame on your ***** government instead of spouting racist *****.
- Jalh, on 04/10/2008, -1/+9song or didn't happen.
- bbqsalad, on 04/10/2008, -4/+12no that was good well done.
- Ajajadude, on 04/10/2008, -1/+8I think you might need to get out of the house more if the algorithm concerns you this much.
- Fihiro, on 04/10/2008, -0/+7" by inbred 47 minutes ago"
- callinthelaw69, on 04/10/2008, -1/+8Ever hear of Judas Priest?
If they assault you it's one thing, but YOU'RE in control of yourself. Take some personal responsibility. - andrewthrice, on 04/10/2008, -3/+10Are you serious????
- Ajajadude, on 04/10/2008, -1/+8Don't you have better things to do than whine about the Digg algorithm?
- craighoxton, on 04/10/2008, -2/+9He's known as 25 pence in the UK
- Aitese, on 04/10/2008, -0/+6Follow the money...
Violent rap isn't our "culture" it's just popular, you know, like iPods. Would you call a small white and metal piece of consumer electronics a part of your culture and history? No?
Who do you think profits from the garbage 50 Cent puts out? 50 Cent? You don't think there's a rich white guy who signs his cheque?
Violence and crime have been around since man figured out how to gain advantage by harming another...rap music hasn't. - damnyooneek, on 04/10/2008, -10/+16rock music has been portraying sex, guns, and violence for years
- solidus636, on 04/10/2008, -1/+7I believe so, yes.
- Fihiro, on 04/10/2008, -2/+7I think its safe to say thats what he meant =o
