- haentz, on 10/12/2007, -8/+143So Ahmadinejad was right. There are no homosexuals in Iran... Any more.
Sick comment on a sick fact :( - wild, on 10/12/2007, -9/+84Its weird. I am digging up stories about how we shouldn't be going to war with Iran, and about how much of a monstrosity its leader is.
Talk about conflicted. - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -15/+66There's no conflict here, by going to war with Iran, in a 'few weeks', you would kill hundreds of times more innocent people than could possibly be executed in '100 years' in Iran because of being homosexual.
Moreover, when was the last time that going to war helped with fixing defects of a religious culture? - fishbert, on 10/12/2007, -7/+46"... since [Iran] seized power"
Huh? I didn't know that a country could seized power of itself. - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -11/+45While his denial was ridiculous, I don't understand why the blame goes to Ahmadinejad, Iran is ruled by the laws of Islam, and that law says the homosexuals must die, pure and simple.
The root of evil is not Ahmadinejad, he doesn't even have any authority over Judiciary which is under the control of Leader, Khamene'i (like all the Armed forces, Guardian Council, National TV/Radio, etc.)
Even if the leader, with all his powers (which apparently comes from God(!!!) ) announces today that homosexuality is OK, he will be ousted by 'Majlis of Experts' the next day.
The problem is religion, or more accurately mixture of religion and government. - therightside, on 10/12/2007, -22/+56BBBBut... I thought AMerica was the evil empire and Iran and Iraq are full of peace loving Muslims, thats what the diggs told me.
- ajb312, on 10/10/2007, -8/+35Wait, this country is suddenly concerned about gay rights?
- tHePeOPle, on 10/10/2007, -2/+21He's not defending, merely stating facts. Ahmadinejad is a douchebag.
- neoform, on 10/10/2007, -2/+20Iran's leader is a *****.. question is, how the hell is that a reason to go to war?
If leader dickheadery was all it took to get people to attack, the US would be a smoldering heap the second bush took the oath. - kettlechips, on 10/10/2007, -2/+19These kinds of issues are not solved by war.
- notque, on 10/10/2007, -2/+17Life isn't black and white. You reason issues. If a bad man says something that right, it's still right. If a good man says something that's wrong, it's still wrong.
That's what maturity and intelligence gives us. We analyze based on evidence and make determinations. - mstoneburner, on 10/10/2007, -6/+17There's a huge difference in being opposed to gay marriage and thinking they should be executed.
- bladzalot, on 10/12/2007, -7/+17Still looking to fix other countries when we still cannot fix our own...what a freakin waste...
- fishbert, on 10/10/2007, -4/+14In other news...
Fred Phelps has converted to Islam, and is filling out an application for Iranian citizenship. - therightside, on 10/10/2007, -10/+19You dumbasses have been saying we are going to war with Iran for YEARS. Seriously when are we going?
- fishbert, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9Crimes such as sodomy?
How else would you propose that gay men are to have sex?! - ZenMojo, on 10/12/2007, -6/+13Ahmedinejad is an ignorant ELECTED leader in a THEOCRATIC REPUBLIC presided over by a DICTATOR put in power by the equivalent of our electoral college. There is a vocal Iranian homosexual community, there is a vocal opposition party in Iran, there is an active Jewish community in Iran. How is blowing up Iran going to solve anything except kill them all?
- akkibaba, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9This isn't a reason to invade Iran : not by a long shot. China does worse things to the Tibetian freedom movement or Falun Gong. Are we talking about invading them as well? Nope, instead the US trades with them and invests there.
- Feanor, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9I'll believe that Islam is peaceful when you can prove to me that it wasn't a religion founded in bloodshed.
The people of Islam probably are very peaceful, but that doesn't make it a peaceful religion. - pkonink, on 10/10/2007, -6/+13Why are you so quick denounce someone who uses their brain to think?
- driftin079, on 10/10/2007, -4/+11http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iranian_Revolution
I know learning hurts, but let's make an effort, shall we? - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -5/+12Accurately, the problem is Islam.
- noumuon, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8"Islam is one of the most peaceful religions at its core." - yea, but no. what's the punishment in islam for adultery? what's the punishment for theft? what's the punishment for most sins? yea... exactly, then compare that with something like buddhism.
- pintomp3, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8bush is going to start a war to save the gays? the conservative right would explode in contradictions.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -9/+15There are other ways to fight besides going to war.
- Jelfish, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7Agreed. I think if people are passionate about helping others, they should donate or join relief groups and other volunteer groups to go to places and help those in need. It's a completely different matter to declare war and send the armed forces.
- bromac, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6It's called homophobia, and from my life experience it rarely stops at gay marriage.
If it stopped there, then we wouldn't have such colorful hateful names for gays. America is not very tolerant of gays, no matter how you try to spin it to make yourself seem morally superior.
Are you seriously going to invade Iran to save the gays now? There's many other countries that are equally harsh, yet they're not on the chopping block. - mstoneburner, on 10/10/2007, -2/+8Yeah who cares about people's lives man, I mean seriously.
- repins, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6The US did not murder those people, the "Insurgents" did
- tehpwnrate, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7That's the problem. Where do you draw the line? Well, to be fair, there are many countries (look at Africa especially) where the same or worse goes on, so if humanitarian crises are where you think military action is needed, there are still some nations above Iran. And unfortunately, as we learned with Iraq, one cannot easily remove a dictator and hope that the people will come together and unite easily and quickly.
- IslandDog, on 10/10/2007, -12/+17I see when someone offers statistics about a country like Iran, you leftists want to question it's source. If it was something about the U.S. you wouldn't be worried about it, right?
- redmonkey, on 10/12/2007, -5/+10Where was all gay right groups during yesterday protests against Iranian president? I did not see any.
- fishbert, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5If nobody broke laws they disagreed with, the U.S. would still be a British colony, the civil rights movement would never have happened, and I wouldn't have been able to kill that son of a bitch who cut me off in traffic last week! Oh, um... ix-nay on that last one.
- fishbert, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9Spoken like a true closeted homosexual.
You're not a member of Congress, are you? - jxs2151, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Please tell me how you managed to twist "35.1 million people (including 12.4 million children) experience hunger or the risk of hunger." into 12.4 million CHILDREN "starving"?
I worry about people twisting facts to suit their agendas..... - curunir, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5"Those who believe Islam itself is a bad religion are no [better] than the Islamic extremists themselves."
Would you also defend this statement:
"Those who believe Christianity itself is a bad religion are no better than the Christian Fundamentalists themselves"
?? - Asianwaste, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6No he'd dance around the question with answers like "There are no homosexuals in Iran. Ask around, you'll see."
- Monk22, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6keep it up just more for me to bury
- pintomp3, on 10/10/2007, -3/+8what are you talking about? gays have the same rights as anyone else in the US, and never get beaten to death by homophobes. they can serve openly in the military too. and we don't execute people either, especially not retarded people.
- Ryan121, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7That's shocking! It annoys me that countries today still carry out such barbaric acts and are allowed to get away with it.
- spyd3rweb, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6conservatives: YOU WILL ACCEPT OUR LIFESTYLE, OR WE'LL BOMB THE ***** OUT OF YOU UNTIL YOU DO.
- santacruzach, on 10/10/2007, -11/+16I want to know where they get their information, however. I mean, I could pull a statistic like that out of my ass
- platypibri, on 10/10/2007, -2/+7Ugly truth, Iran won't change until Iran changes. We can bomb them and install a government, and they are still Iraq. How long has the caste system been illegal in India. It's still there.
- mstoneburner, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6A figurehead for a theocracy that believes in Sharia law.
- bromac, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4True Scotsman Fallacy. They're not Christian because they're not TRULY following Christ!
Except no one can define a religion absolutely. Except you, of course. I'm sure that you're a true Christian and are going to heaven. - pcpimpster, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4They are not my kids, maybe you should talk to all those parents who gave birth to all those starving kids and tell them to get a ***** job.
- whatthefu, on 10/10/2007, -6/+10AHMADINEJAD IS JUST A FIGUREHEAD. Jesus ***** Christ.
- mutz, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5Islam is not the problem... the biggots that misuse religion for there own power, greed are the problem...
- tHePeOPle, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5I wish people would realize that there is such a place as independence. When you're an independent, you can see that the Republicans are massively corrupt hypocrite douchebags who fail miserably at conservatism and leadership. You can also see that democrats are quire possibly the biggest do-nothing pussies on earth. I don't see how anyone would want to be on either side.
- pcpimpster, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4"if i was to speak in a non-religious way"
So is that how you do all your dirty deeds? By speaking/acting on them in the third person for fear of reprimand from whatever peice of ***** god you pray too? Just wondering how that works.
Maybe you should first look at how your religion doesnt let you say what you feel in an open forum. Connect the dots from there. -
