- mrgarci1, on 02/13/2009, -12/+169My deepest sentiments to the victims and their loved ones.
No disrespect intended to those affected by this tragedy, but is it just me, or are WAY more commercial planes crashing since the airlines have been struggling financially? - Dr3w, on 02/13/2009, -1/+122Here's a closer pic of the wreck: http://media.washingtontimes.com/media/img/photos/ ...

http://archive-server.liveatc.net/kbuf/KBUF-Feb-13 ... - jordanlgta, on 02/13/2009, -0/+88I feel bad for the person that has been confirmed dead that was on the ground before the crash. He was just minding his own business and a plane crashes into him...
What are the odds?? - relaxeder, on 04/17/2009, -0/+64Man.. I was just making a really late dinner when I turned on the television and saw the breaking news. Seriously tragic. The emergency authorities are saying now that the cause of the crash was sleet and rain. What a terrible freak circumstance for everybody involved and their families.
Also, they said one person was killed on the ground. What kind of horrible luck do you have to have to be living in the house that gets hit by a commuter plane?.. no disrespect and not to lessen the tragedy of the rest, but jeez. - mrgarci1, on 02/13/2009, -8/+67buried for prioritizing front-paging an article over the lives of 50 human beings
- Slothy88, on 02/13/2009, -6/+63my god, they have the CIP device...
- crgnetworks, on 02/13/2009, -2/+55I'm sitting at a bar in downtown Youngstown, Ohio, and the guy across from me answers his phone at about 11 at night. His mom called to tell him about the crash..
One of his best friends was the pilot of the plane :-( Small world... - Rkstar, on 02/13/2009, -1/+53Flight tracker:

Umm... technically correct. - VanDamselx, on 02/13/2009, -2/+47This is right by me. It's really sad to see this. A girl's, who I go to school with, dad was on that plane.
Heartbreaking. - XBackstabberX, on 02/13/2009, -9/+49I live 20 miles from where the plane crashed, this is so surreal.
- xIcemanx, on 02/13/2009, -6/+45this is very close to where i live.. it's really upsetting. i don't know it just feels surreal.. im okay and so are my friends but still it's very weird.
- awesometastic1, on 02/13/2009, -2/+40well that's like two crashes out of hundreds of thousands of flights. not too shabby a record
- ShutItDown, on 02/13/2009, -0/+35You're an idiot.
- BeIIe, on 02/13/2009, -2/+35That's an interesting observation.
News outlets were reporting a few months ago because of crippling gas prices that some airlines were sending planes out with the absolute bare minimum of fuel, only enough to reach their destination. It'd be interesting to see if airlines are cutting corners on repairs due to the economy.
Truly tragic, especially if it could have been prevented. - googooly, on 02/13/2009, -0/+32well it would be awkward to put " Crashed " in there
- euro22, on 02/13/2009, -3/+35That was the most ill-timed and poorly executed version of that meme I have seen to date. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

- metalgel, on 02/13/2009, -1/+30reminds me of the lil kid who got killed here in Chicago when the southwest plane crashed through the walls and onto central into a car. how ***** up that southwest has no fatalities in their safety history except for a lil kid they hit in the street with their jet? and for that matter to be driving on the road and be barreled into by a 737.
- ravis31, on 02/13/2009, -5/+33A video from the crash site
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uPoqhEHKNQk - Sakumi, on 02/13/2009, -0/+27NY has a lot of air traffic, so sadly it's more probable to happen there as opposed to places with less air traffic.
Also the weather doesn't help. LA and Las Vegas have tons of air traffic, but better weather.
It just adds up =/ - ButterLoyalist, on 02/13/2009, -1/+27That's impossible. It was destroyed two episodes ago.
- mmittimm, on 02/13/2009, -1/+26No it's not too soon, you're just a douche.
- Nothlit, on 02/13/2009, -3/+27I live 440 miles from where the plane crashed, this is so surreal.

- ChiKoo, on 02/13/2009, -1/+21i'm trying so hard not to laugh right now...
- inactive, on 02/13/2009, -2/+22But that wans't funny. So a bury for you Sir!
- Nothlit, on 02/13/2009, -0/+19This was the first fatal plane crash in over two years in the United States. The safety record of the airlines (at least in this country) has been better over the last few years than at any time in history.
- kspanks04, on 02/13/2009, -0/+18scratch that: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q& ...
- oboshoe, on 02/13/2009, -0/+17Actually airliner deaths are way down in the US in the last few years.
- directrix13, on 02/13/2009, -1/+18I was thinking the exact same thing.
- inactive, on 02/13/2009, -0/+17people died. explain how that could possibly qualify as "cool".
- Nothlit, on 02/13/2009, -0/+16The age of the plane means little if it has been properly maintained.
- silent128, on 02/13/2009, -2/+18This is horrible.
- dolbinau, on 02/13/2009, -2/+18Crashes always come in threes? MIracles? Since when was digg superstitious.
- Ockniel, on 02/13/2009, -3/+18A: read the article before asking questions.
B: Were* - vorduga, on 02/13/2009, -0/+15Yeah, when I clicked the link and saw Buffalo News I had a pretty big "Oh Crap" moment...
- thumperings, on 02/13/2009, -2/+17no no he meant STFU Sleep tight forever underground.
- BossKey, on 02/13/2009, -2/+17What is so poor about "Rest In Peace" ???
Maybe you shouldn't assume that "R.I.P." = "omg Zombies!!!1!" - inactive, on 02/13/2009, -1/+15I would imagine its even more surreal for the people that live 20 feet from the plane crash.
- spud387, on 02/13/2009, -1/+15That audio help set the situation from the traffic controller. Starting @ 17min he repeatably calls for 3407 in ever decreasing intervals... until eventually having to call for ground search.
so sad.
RIP - ryan83189, on 02/13/2009, -0/+14You don't have any way of knowing the airplane you are booked for, the type yes, the plane no.
- jayerk, on 02/13/2009, -0/+14One, reportedly.
- mmittimm, on 02/13/2009, -2/+15http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_accidents_and ...
Just you I guess... - Lurial, on 02/13/2009, -0/+13So very surreal
- Isohunt, on 02/13/2009, -0/+13Creepy
- aptanalogy, on 02/13/2009, -0/+12That's a difference that just means you FEEL less safe, but it has nothing to do with how safe you actually are. You, and all the other non-professional drivers out there with no automated control of any kind are much more dangerous to each other than planes are to each other, or to their respective passengers.
