You want to make him feel remorse and repent so that he will realize his crime and not do it to someone else? There are other ways to achieve that. But that's clearly not your motivation because u want him dead too. Besides, what if it makes him more cruel? What if it makes him realize even more that people only care about themselves?
How does torturing a sick ***** help alleviate the problems of the world? It's serving a primal urge and has no intrinsic value. I can understand if you were saying he should be imprisoned or somehow guaranteed from never being able to carry out any more crimes.
There's no point to torturing anyone, other than to serve ones own mental need. Is serving that need good? It's an illogical move driven by emotion, and it may make you into a bad person. Bad people surrender to emotion over logic, with a low threshold. Free markets have laws that respect rights, it requires them because a free market can't stand without a government to protect the rights of individuals.

By torturing a criminal you aren't fixing him, and that's not even your goal anyway (you don't WANT to fix him). It won't make society better to feed people's "need" to make others suffer. Nothing good can come of it.
Now you can say that by torturing the person it would make an example etc. and make others think twice .. But it's all *****, and if that reasoning didn't apply you would still want the person tortured.
