My wife, son & I were on the 3rd floor near the indoor bridge that spans the lobby.
My friends wife had walked onto the bridge when the shots started.
We ducked back and when I looked down to the lobby, everyone was dropping to the floor.
Armed guards showed up within seconds, and we were asked to stay still.
After about 3 minutes, the guards asked us to move to the back elevators. They piled us in and the door closed.
Knowing that the elevator door would open at the 1st floor, I move my son behind me.
When the door did open, we were met by an armed guard telling us to "RUN!".
As the entire elevator full of people turned and ran, we were guided out the back of the museum.

This happened in a museum, a public place where there are children, and was done because of the perpetrator's prejudices against the minority that the museum represented. This was a racially motivated crime and the suspect's own background of racial supremacy VERY MUCH features into explaining the motivation behind this random disgusting act of violence.
P.S. I don't know what Stars Hollows town you live in but race is ALWAYS disclosed in shootings. They always include that the perp is an African-American or Latino suspect. Isn't the white gene pool the same as the gene pool for every other race or creed? Maybe I'm confusing the human genome with DNA. If so, excuse my ignorance.
