- TheMachine1, on 04/08/2009, -9/+39Thank God they did not rape the man they robbed or they may have gone free.
- cabdirazzaq, on 04/08/2009, -0/+19“One day (at the time of the Prophet) a woman left her house to go and pray at the Mosque. On her way she was met by a man who forced her to have sexual intercourse. The woman screamed while the man raped her. After he raped her the man ran away. A group of men (who accompanied the Prophet on his flight form Mecca to Medina) passed by the girl and she said to them (pointing in the direction of the man running) “that man just raped me”. They then ran after him and caught him and when face to face with the woman she said “yes that was the person”. They went to the Prophet and the man said “Yes Prophet it was me who did this”. The Prophet said to the girl “go now, God has already pardoned you”. The Prophet then said to the man (while appreciating his confession) “stone him”. (Tirmidi)
- BoneheadFarker, on 04/08/2009, -0/+16Actually, they died by the sword.
- inactive, on 04/07/2009, -6/+22It should be a lesson to all. They really deserve this punishment for taking the life of a fellower..
- Absyrd2, on 04/08/2009, -2/+17How exactly is this front page material?
- allengeer, on 04/08/2009, -0/+13He'll never be the head of a major corporation.
- ScaredOfTheMan, on 04/08/2009, -0/+13actually they lived by the knife (stabbed the poor fellow) and died by the sword
- KenSPT, on 04/08/2009, -3/+15Give me a second while I grab my tiny violin ...
- inactive, on 04/08/2009, -3/+14Humans have had capital punishment systems for thousands of years. Millions of people put to death as punishment. Crime still continued. So much for deterrent.
- JacD, on 04/08/2009, -2/+13"People Who Dugg This Also Dugg Is Elena Alyonka Larionov the next Anna Kournikova?"
Hahahaha. - TheMachine1, on 04/08/2009, -0/+10I take it that means oppression of rape victims has no justifiable basis in Islam and if such practices occurs its a cultural thing not religious. Which I do not doubt at all.
- rrife, on 04/08/2009, -1/+11I think raping another man is death by stoning, raping a woman would get the woman sentenced to death by stoning. (note: stoning = throwing rocks)
- gijoeler, on 04/08/2009, -0/+10Beheading seems more humane to me than hanging or electrocution.
- Matman302, on 04/08/2009, -2/+11So what? In my opinion we have a more ruthless justice system than they do! We have a larger percentage of our population incarcerated than the Saudis, or any other nation in the world for that matter. We've also executed 1156 people since 1976, which averages out to around 35 people a year. So sure they probably have more executions than we do, but we love stuffing the poor, uneducated, pot smoking, underprivileged members of our society into prisons more than anyone else.
- Astark, on 04/08/2009, -0/+9There can be only one!
- inactive, on 04/08/2009, -0/+8Head.
- inactive, on 04/07/2009, -6/+13totally agreed. They got paid for what they did. but still I would say life imprisonment or something like that would have done better either as I oppose death sentence.
- mycoplasma, on 04/08/2009, -0/+7It's easy to lose your head during a stressful robbery.
- seanstuart, on 04/08/2009, -3/+9And you can trust the Saudi system of justice to be sure that they're guilty.
- ObamaYouth, on 04/08/2009, -1/+7now that's justice you can bow to
- andyb747, on 04/08/2009, -0/+6I heard the one that did the stabbing was a total head case
- mckee123, on 04/08/2009, -5/+11they deserve it, in my opinion anyway.
- jer21, on 04/08/2009, -0/+5They weren't very...headstrong.
- captdonno, on 04/08/2009, -2/+7and justice for all.
- kd420, on 04/08/2009, -0/+5I know, that's what I'm thinking. This certainly isn't outrageous as far as Saudi Arabia is concerned...
- bugwayji, on 04/08/2009, -1/+6 Who turned the computer on for you?
- bigteebo, on 04/08/2009, -3/+8Meanwhile Bermie Madoff is sipping tea.
(yes I know, different crime, but...) - inactive, on 04/08/2009, -6/+11Finally a good news story from that country.
- V3NOM, on 04/08/2009, -0/+4Crime is definitely not the way to save face.
- DteK, on 04/08/2009, -2/+6why is this news? just sounds like some justice was doled out.
- Marnault22, on 04/08/2009, -0/+4In a perfect system where no innocent people would get convicted I would support the death penalty for crimes such as murder. But unfortunately innocent people do end up convicted, and it is hard to support because of that.
Although would spending 20+ years in prison with the knowledge that you are innocent but unable to do anything be much better? I would probably go crazy... - RioMo, on 04/08/2009, -0/+4I'll bet they never do THAT again!
- SirFragsMore, on 04/08/2009, -2/+5After a jewelry heist its never a good idea to loose one's head.
- jsmith39, on 04/08/2009, -0/+3As long as someone gets killed, you wouldn't want to live in a country where rape went unpunished.
- allengeer, on 04/08/2009, -3/+6Beheading is such a righteous way to punish someone... just saying.
- Veni_Vidi_Vici, on 04/08/2009, -0/+3Perhaps, but I think the USA's lethal injection system is probably the most humane (to the offender). We sedate offenders before the march out to keep them calm.
Of course, you have to ask: sedation may be humane, but does it take some element of justice away from the victim? Usually victims aren't sedated before they are attacked, they are often frightened, saying "oh *****, i'm gonna die". Why does the offender get off easy? - GREEDOnvrFIRED, on 04/08/2009, -0/+3He deserves a harsh punishment. But think of all the greedy f**kers who he taught a lesson. I like him for that.
- RAGEdemon, on 04/08/2009, -2/+5@upgradingwisdom
Agreed.
Still, far better than the electric chair. - inactive, on 04/08/2009, -3/+6Society shouldn't have to carry the costs for those charged with such serious crimes.
- beautifulady, on 04/10/2009, -0/+3Actually, France thought so until they abolished it in 1981.
- forgeflow, on 04/08/2009, -0/+3The word you keep misspelling is "towards". It's not that hard. Twords? Jesus.
- archiesteel, on 04/08/2009, -1/+4It's true: right-wingers have more in common with fanatical Muslims than with normal people.
- jsmith39, on 04/08/2009, -1/+4You're right, as far as this article is concerned that isn't remotely important.
- Gixxer18, on 04/08/2009, -0/+3I wonder if the three who got beheaded said "hey don't lose your head while we're robbing the jewely store.. we don't want to kill anyone"...
- Veni_Vidi_Vici, on 04/08/2009, -0/+3"This certainly isn't outrageous as far as Saudi Arabia is concerned."
I agree. I actually came here expecting everyone to be criticizing the saudi arabian punishment system, but I forgot that diggers know better than that. It's a shame we don't have such punishment here in the US, it would be a great deterrent.
Although I'm left wondering to what extent, if any, these guys had a right to due process and how compelling the evidence against them was. Very short article. - warriorscot, on 04/08/2009, -0/+3It has always been my understanding that Saudi Arabia is actually fairly active in hunting down terrorists. While many of them are Saudi born they leave the country to do the actual acts of terrorism and Saudi hasn't got the laws needed to track and prosecute people that finance or support them they can only prosecute acts of terrorism in that country.
People who commit acts of terrorism inside Saudi Arabia are punished very severely but they don't pursue people like we do in the west. Saudi Arabia is a very different culture from ours its not fair or easy to judge it by the same standards. The laws are very much simpler are so are the punishments. You also have what is also a quite strict class system in the country with a lot of poor and few ridiculously rich which is prime territory for breeding discontent.
You also can't punish a country because the people in it don't like you. And while you don't want to admit it they have pretty valid points. They go about protesting them the wrong way but the underlying problem is everyone's fault. - inactive, on 04/08/2009, -0/+3What? Stoning means throwing rocks at someone until they die? I think I have to reread some bible passages...
- Marnault22, on 04/08/2009, -0/+3Criminal commit crimes with the expectation that they will not be caught, and thus don't consider the consequences.
- Marnault22, on 04/08/2009, -0/+3Do you honestly think you are more deserving of life simply because you were born in the US to non Muslim parents? If you were instead born in Saudi Arabia or another middle eastern country to Muslim parents you would have most likely been Muslim too. Religion is more about what your parents believe, especially in countries where all your friends and their family are the same religion and just as devout. Sure in the first world some people will choose to a different religion (or none) than their parents, but this is because they are much more exposed to the competing ideas rather than everyone around you believing the same thing.
Furthermore not all Muslims are bad, the logic can be applied to catholic priests, sure some are child molesters that doesn't mean most of them are. The problem is the bad ones are those who get all the media attention, and thus can lead people to believe that most/all of them are bad. -
