3000 Reasons Why Diggers Are WRONG About Bloggers
garryconn.com — It seems that bloggers get the "upraised nose" kind of attitude whenever they submit things to Digg. Bloggers are seen as self-serving and selfish in their self-promotion. I'm here to tell you that it just isn't so. The story will air on Sky News in the UK on Feb 22, 2008.

- geekchic, on 01/20/2008, -1/+13Just because some of the people who write blogs make a nice charitable donation doesn't mean that some of the people who write blogs are not just ripping off stories written by the mainstream media.
- RTCA, on 01/20/2008, -4/+4What you're saying applies to all websites, not just blogs.
- fastupfront, on 01/22/2008, -0/+2I agree that a nice donation doesn't mean that all bloggers are good - or that all blogs are good. Even you wrote: "some of the people who write blogs..." For example, if I write about an article written by the mainstream media, I add in my own commentary and make very clear what the article was about (with a link) and what MY opinion is - what's original. Do you consider this to be "ripping off?" To see what I mean, you can look at it: http:www.fastupfront.com/blog I'd be curious of your feedback, since you seem somewhat cynical about the value of blogs.

- Daducha, on 01/20/2008, -3/+5This is such good news. People helping other people.
- garryconn, on 01/20/2008, -3/+6There has always been this division in community between Diggers and Bloggers. Nice way to lead into the story RT. Thumbs up totally, I think this Digg will go well. :)
- MikeyBee, on 01/20/2008, -2/+4If I had more than two thumbs, I'd raise them too...
- RTCA, on 01/20/2008, -1/+3Correction: This will air on January 22, not February. See what happens when you don't get enough sleep?
- jurnei, on 01/21/2008, -1/+6I had no idea about this! Silly me. I blog and sometimes I submit, the reason being that I gather some resources that show a point of view, or support a point of view and I want to be sure that it's out there. I figure with media censorship, I'm doing my good deed for the day. How funny that folks want to assume someone is doing it for their own self serving purposes. How sad really.
- SuccessWriter, on 01/21/2008, -1/+4Being able to help a blogger in need is the culmination of working together on a journey shared. Whoever said that bloggers were self serving bitches has to stop and reconsider. There are those of us who actually care about others too. :-) Shame I'm not in the UK to see the clip. Well done and all the best to R.T. and Josie.
- w0lfh0und, on 01/21/2008, -1/+5Blogging works better for all of us when we show support for each other. I think it is just as important an investment to spend time supporting the work as others as it is promoting your own.
- TGMD, on 01/21/2008, -7/+2Okay... I've got only one reason why bloggers suck... They've got the time to compile a list of 3000 reasons on why they don't suck....
- RTCA, on 01/21/2008, -1/+3Shame on you. You didn't read the article. It's 3000 dollars, not 3000 list items.

- 3tcp, on 01/21/2008, -1/+4Generosity doesn't prove that their bits of legitimate news wrapped in what are usually vain and uninformed ramblings aren't useless. The few that do know what they're talking about are usually too busy doing whatever it is that makes them qualified to spend time promoting their own blog through social websites. .

True, but some blogs are covering news that the mainstream media won't dare touch, at least in this country. www.bradblog.com has been and continues to be an instrumental force for truth and justice in America. That site deserves a Pulitzer prize for outstanding investigative journalism. - fakekevinrose, on 01/21/2008, -1/+2bloggers, when submitting a youtube video, do NOT link to your blog
- WordsnCollision, on 01/21/2008, -2/+4Digg is changing to become a more social network, and if the "old style" Diggers don't like it they should direct their anger at Digg management, not the bloggers who have accepted the welcome extended to them by Digg.
- lukas88, on 01/21/2008, -1/+2This was a nice gesture, but it doesn't change the fact that 9 out of 10 blog sites submitted to dig do one of the following:
-A simple description of a video (or pic) followed by a link or embedded video
-A simple description of a news article or another blog article followed by a link
-Some hipster doofus bitching about a bad experience with some sort of store or customer service
-An extreme political view or conspiracy theory which is either unoriginal or cites sources from 5 years ago, putting appropriate blame on big media for not covering it also.
This is why we hate blogs. If you have a unique perspective or interesting personality, by all means, write a blog. I get the feeling most people who have the talent have better things to do, which is why a good blog is rare. There are some exceptions, but not many. - Polyakov, on 01/21/2008, -0/+1Some comments here are really silly, they remind me similar well-known obvious judgments on some particular part of community, religious group or race. Replace "Bloggers" or "Diggers" with something else and immediately feel how such sentences stinks.
