- warp99, on 07/20/2009, -0/+91That's amazing since the Autobahn is considered one of the safest highways in the world. It actually has less deaths per 100 million traveled then U.S. highways, 0.71 versus 0.84.
- denuded, on 07/20/2009, -0/+81it's because kilometers are safer than miles. if America really cared about safety we'd be on the metric system. (this is humor, for those with low iqs.)
- inactive, on 07/20/2009, -0/+61Actually it's 259 cars.
- BryanG412, on 07/20/2009, -1/+55That video sucked.
- bigpappapunk, on 07/20/2009, -0/+44no overhead shot?
- Rotzooi, on 07/20/2009, -3/+44Doesn't make sense, Germans don't travel in miles.
- chriswastaken, on 10/27/2009, -3/+41The video didn't look like 259. Looked more like 15.
- nmessick, on 07/20/2009, -3/+40I've done 110mph on the autobahn.. crazy thing is, it feels safer than doing 75 here in the states. That highway is made for those kind of speeds, and when they need a speed limit its posted and everyone follows it.
- warp99, on 07/20/2009, -1/+33Sorry, that should be 100 million miles traveled.
- HalsMyPal, on 07/20/2009, -0/+30whoever was at the back of the crash..... its his fault
- Zegarek, on 07/20/2009, -0/+25Are we sure this isn't a publicity stunt for the next Michael Bay movie?
- smitas, on 07/20/2009, -3/+27Only 200?
- marm0lade, on 07/20/2009, -5/+28Thanks for that vital grammar correction. I do not think I would have been able to continue my day without.
- Xplorer, on 07/20/2009, -0/+22/prodigythomasfag gets buried
- MasterQ, on 07/20/2009, -1/+22i bet most of the drivers were german.
- Metatron197, on 07/20/2009, -0/+21Uhh, we don't have to get insurance involved right? C'mon be cool!
- bbrigg1, on 07/20/2009, -0/+17Buried for no aerial view.
- mjk340, on 07/20/2009, -5/+21***** you man, my cousin died while chastising Digg users for using memes on Digg
- lostinseganet, on 07/20/2009, -4/+20Yes it's under 9000!
- dty2010, on 07/20/2009, -4/+19Thank you, now I can read the comment. Before you corrected him, I was confused and had no idea what he was trying to say.
- pegothejerk, on 07/20/2009, -6/+19Now that we have a large sampling in a single event, what percentage of them were women? Now maybe we can prove or put to rest the woman-driver thing.
- Kyrra, on 07/20/2009, -1/+14Maybe there were 259 cars damaged in multiple accidents, but it was not a 200 car pile-up. Buried for inaccurate title.
- Darkelement878, on 07/20/2009, -0/+13Actually, there is no seed limit on American highways. In fact, 1.8 million metric tons of sunflower seeds alone are produced and transported within the United States every year.
- skidork, on 07/20/2009, -5/+17Mein gott...
- zadadka, on 07/20/2009, -0/+12German recycling .... a curious but successfully efficient method.
- tamman2000, on 07/20/2009, -2/+14Insurance companies already have plenty of data, and charge young single men the most... there is a reason for that...
- Doodlepen, on 07/20/2009, -0/+10Wow transformers 3 is already filming??
- PityDaFool, on 07/20/2009, -0/+9This just proves my theory. "Germans love hatchbacks."
- bradleyland, on 07/20/2009, -0/+9I have a low IQ and I support this message.
- wassim2k, on 07/20/2009, -0/+9The a-hole in the front that caused all of this probably drove off without a scratch.
- inactive, on 07/20/2009, -1/+10They're metric, dumbass.
/s - protogenxl, on 07/20/2009, -0/+8Use of unnecessary violence in the apprehension of the Blues Brothers HAS been approved.
- johnomaz, on 07/20/2009, -1/+8Exactly, and it also didn't mention any fatalities. chock one up to German cars.
- darookee, on 07/20/2009, -0/+7... im ...

- Snoogs, on 07/20/2009, -1/+7Gott in Himmel!!!
- sidneylopsides, on 07/20/2009, -1/+7If only it was in a film, it would be worthy of taking the car destruction crown from Blues Brothers, not that GI Joe thing...
- palmer, on 07/20/2009, -1/+7Who's "noone"?
- BC200, on 07/20/2009, -0/+5MEDIIIC!
- adnoiseam, on 07/20/2009, -1/+6Article title "Many injured in German motorway crash"
and below: "see also: 'Nazi' gnome art investigated"
The BBC definitely knows its Germany.
(comment sent from an undisclosed underground location in Berlin) - cyberdork, on 07/21/2009, -0/+5It has nothing to do with the quality of the road.
Did you know it costs a couple thousand dollars to get your drivers license in Germany? It takes around half a year to finish the theory lessons, the driving lessons and the mandatory first aid course.
Oh, and if you know there are cars going 120mph all around you you automatically pay more attention to the traffic. - PityDaFool, on 07/20/2009, -1/+650%, the ones with front end damage.
- MasterQ, on 07/20/2009, -0/+5If it were Michael Bay every car would have exploded and vaporized on impact causing a cascade of mushroom clouds that was shot from a helicopter cam... and it all would have been CGI, not real cars. Maybe this was the small event leading up to the bigger CG effect?
- CedEx, on 07/20/2009, -2/+6Young single men tend to have either of these two cars; a perfect mint condition car with no scratches and dents, or, a completely totalled write-off which have no option but to be reported to the insurance company for claims.
Young women however, tend to have cars that are beat up, dented, scratched, missing mirrors, scraped bumpers, cracked windshields and all that good stuff that is never claimed nor reported to the insurance company.
This is why male insurance policies are more expensive. - palmer, on 07/20/2009, -0/+4Funny, though, they know WTF the left lane is for.
- KibblesnBitts, on 07/20/2009, -0/+4no.
- AngelBunny, on 07/20/2009, -1/+5are you retarded?
- notman, on 07/20/2009, -0/+4Let's hear it for vehicle safety. The passenger compartments of all those vehicles looked completely intact. ⵅ
- skate3214, on 07/21/2009, -0/+4He's speaking German duh. You need capslock for German.
