- ScottMcIntyre, on 10/11/2008, -0/+35This is an appalling situation. These people are so desperate to escape their own country- for whatever reason- that they are willing to risk their lives to do so. I only hope the UNHCR and associated authorities work to address this terrible situation.
QFA:"The UNHCR estimates at least 230 migrants have died this year and 365 remain missing, including 100 from the latest incident. In 2007, over 1,400 were reported dead and missing, according to the rights group Medecins Sans Frontiers." - SemiSarcastic, on 10/12/2008, -4/+25"This Fall on FOX prepare yourself for our most shameless reality TV show yet..."

Kills an average of 948 hot-air balloonists a year. - inactive, on 10/12/2008, -1/+11Any guy that calls himself a "diva" swings that way.
- cdigioia, on 10/12/2008, -1/+10Care to site a source, or at least some back story or some sort of evidence - for such a horrific allegation?
- RG13, on 10/12/2008, -0/+9Oh you bastard. I had to digg you up, but i dugg gbudavid too to balance it out.
- Burento, on 10/11/2008, -9/+17Ouch.. that really bites... *shiver*
- divinediva, on 10/11/2008, -11/+19Aren’t all waters “shark infested”??
- inactive, on 10/12/2008, -4/+12Sharks are salt-water creatures. That eliminates a lot of bodies of water.
- inactive, on 10/12/2008, -1/+9That just freaking sucks for these people
- brightlight4, on 10/11/2008, -0/+8This thing of illegal migrants has been happening here in Spain for two or three years now, the only difference being that there are no sharks in the sea but many die on their way to Spain and are thrown into the sea and are washed up on the beaches. What is VERY VERY clear to my mind is that, while the wealthy countries are surrounded by oceans of poor countries there are going to be attempts to reach our wealthy countries. Thus the only way to prevent illegal migrants is by NOT exploiting their raw materials without allowing their countries to benefit and so create employment. When these people can work and earn a living then they will not necessarily be so interested in moving to our countries. That is common sense to me, but doesn't seem so to our leaders!!
- inactive, on 10/12/2008, -3/+10...the sharks were just going to be hungry again after 15 minutes

- Jack8274, on 10/12/2008, -1/+8Growing up in South Africa I have seen such an incidents, the country has really gone to ***** in a hand basket.
- Zervaman, on 10/12/2008, -2/+8Why does it always seem like bad ***** always happens to innocent people, whereas the bad people usually don't get what they deserve?
- inactive, on 10/12/2008, -0/+6Yeah, cuz smugglers usually throw people at sharks out of religious obligations? Riiiight.
- NewsFeed, on 10/11/2008, -1/+7Swim!
- GorfTron, on 10/12/2008, -0/+6This is bad news for us all. This trains sharks to eat humans. Thanks a lot, human traffickers!!
- Jack8274, on 10/12/2008, -0/+597 % of the worlds water is the Ocean, that whole 3% of water is sure to be safe, only there are fresh water sharks as well.
- gatorfree, on 10/12/2008, -0/+5"At noon on the fifth day, a Lockheed Ventura swung in low and he spotted us, a young pilot, lot younger than Mr. Hooper here, anyway he spotted us and a few hours later a big ol' fat PBY come down and started to pick us up. You know that was the time I was most frightened. Waitin' for my turn. I'll never put on a lifejacket again. So, eleven hundred men went into the water. 316 men come out, the sharks took the rest, June the 29th, 1945."
- anotherjack, on 10/12/2008, -2/+7Nice try, they were Somalian, not Chinese.
- inactive, on 10/12/2008, -0/+5That was uncalled for. This is a serious problem and you're making light of it. Your comment was tasteless and I dugg you down because of it. BURN IN HELL YOU SACK OF ***** ***** DOUCHE TASTELESS COMMENTING *****!
- xz9925, on 10/12/2008, -0/+5that defines "***** up"
- inigomntoya, on 10/12/2008, -0/+4Sacrifices made to the sharks to appease their debt to Neptune.
- InsaneOni, on 10/12/2008, -4/+8WTF I read that as Midgets. I need to get my eyes checked.
On a serious note, that's really ***** up. It's too bad the world hasn't moved beyond this by now. Oh well, humans will be humans. - inactive, on 10/12/2008, -0/+4What did the shark say to the Somalian immigrant?
Glad you could join me for dinner. - inactive, on 10/12/2008, -0/+4an AIDS basket.

- abajaj2280, on 10/12/2008, -0/+4someone should throw those bad people into the "shark infested" waters
this is really ***** up though. - inactive, on 10/12/2008, -1/+5I like the part with sharks.
- warsongs7, on 10/12/2008, -2/+6Wish we could throw you in there.
- inactive, on 10/12/2008, -1/+5What do you get when you cross a Yemen and a Somalian?
Seafood. - XeroKool, on 10/12/2008, -0/+4Little John from Robin Hood?! Oh, you mean Lil Jon.
- Cuchanu, on 10/12/2008, -1/+5First of all moron, there are plenty of innocent people in Somalia that need help. The same people that killed troops are the same ones that are killing those innocent people. I know it's hard to wrap your reptile brain around it, but not all people from a country are the same, even if they are the same color.
Not to mention how many troops have been murdered in Iraq? More than 4,000.
And why? Oil, "Iraqi Freedom" or some other *****?
Now how many troops died in Somalia? Like 5. But in Somalia there is a real need for foreign help. Millions of people have been slaughtered and have starved to death and the majority are women and children. - IMTruckingUSA, on 10/12/2008, -0/+4One of my instructors at Boot Camp was one of the survivors
and he also said that he would never put on a lifejacket again
as he taught us to put on lifejackets and survival gear.
The summer of 1975. Yep, it's true. - slyzxx, on 10/12/2008, -0/+4All you guys keep talking about ohh why havent we gone to somalia and stoped them. Well here is what i say
1) no country has ever EVER successfully invaded another country.
2) Turn the tables around if someone came here to stop us from going to iraq it would be war and we would call them terrorists or what ever and we would be victim.
3) Who says we have the right to go to any country ?
4) The last time we were there we learnt a serious problem there crazy
5) The Us can not afford another war
The somalian people are nuts every one of the remaning people there are armed to the teeth go there and all hells going to break loose.
Do i agree with what they are doing absolutly not its inhumane, disgusting and just wrong.
Ohh and they should have just gone to Kenya. - IMTruckingUSA, on 10/12/2008, -1/+4Obviously, Moron, the UN is well aware of the situation in Somalia.
Tell me, Professor, why have they not called on the numerous other member nations to aid in the Somalia Tragedy?
Why do they not call upon those countries that are closer to help their fellow Africans?
Why not South Africa, such a rich nation?
Why must the United States be the World's Policeman? We are not the World's Policeman.
I am against our troops being in Iraq. I was shocked when Georgy sent them there. A few Special Forces Teams hunting down Osama and his group was all I expected. - inigomntoya, on 10/12/2008, -2/+5Not the time for a joke like that...
Or one like this for that matter -
What do you call a sinking boat load of Somalian immigrants in shark infested waters?
A good start.

- inactive, on 10/12/2008, -1/+4You think the UN is going to do something? *laughs so hard that tears form*
- slyzxx, on 10/12/2008, -0/+3Actually sharks do not like the tatse of human blood or do not like humans same with gators. Its the fact that we kick our legs we look like seals or large fish
