- maz2331, on 10/11/2007, -7/+150Sounds like Bill O'Reilly's dream case. I actually saw him last night discussing the Wilson case, and thinking it was a great thing that the guy was in prison for having sex at 17 with a 15-year old who initiated things at a party.
Protect children from underage sexual predators by throwing them in prison... so they can be raped by real adult predators. I'm all for hanging real molesters from the nearest tree, but stop arresting teenagers for doing what teenagers do with each other.
Only a lawyer could find a situation to charge both participants with rape!
As George Carlin once said... "No wonder kids smoke.... it helps!" - jmpeagle, on 10/11/2007, -0/+99"Now since A.A. was 13 years-old at the time of the incident, L.B. is being charged with aggravated criminal sodomy and rape, with A.A. also being charged similarly."
They are being charged with raping each other? - tehbored, on 10/11/2007, -8/+73Ok, see this is an excellent of example of using a bad headline on digg. It implies that only she was charged with rape, when in reality, both were.
- insomniac8400, on 10/11/2007, -6/+56Finally some sanity. Its been annoying always seeing guys charged with rape due to a the girl having remorse after the fact.
- floridiot2, on 10/11/2007, -1/+47Doesn't that violate some law of physics?
- peterjmag, on 10/11/2007, -5/+51I'll take "the rapist" for $400...
- liquidice, on 10/11/2007, -1/+46I think the whole story is crap. Sounded to me like they had consensual sex. Just because the girl "felt bad" afterwords doesn't make it rape.
- lavchan, on 10/11/2007, -1/+43An article describes a situation in which two persons, A and B, accuse each other of (and are each charged with committing) the same crime without any substantial evidence having been provided either way. You assume, based again on absolutely no evidence at all, that Person A must be the victim rather than Person B. This is because...
- bbear, on 10/11/2007, -3/+36She claims he raped her, and then she went to see him the next day and had sex with him again. Sounds like a ***** false rape accuser whore to me. Someone post the results of the study investigating false rape accusations with its ridiculously high number of rape accusations turning out to be false. It's more than 40%.
- tehpwnrate, on 10/11/2007, -0/+33"'I felt forced and pressured into it, said L.B. After the two had intercourse, they had oral sex later that day.
She states in the record after the second incident she 'felt really bad.'"
Unless she said "NO" and tried to get out of it, this whole "feeling bad" thing is not rape. It's the consequence of an adult action--remorse because of a mistake. You act like an adult, you feel bad and take responsibility like an adult. - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -1/+33Eh sadly this story isn't atypical, or as the guy above suggests, limited to black people. The girl said she had a borderline rape encounter, then the next day goes to see the guy again. This suggests some pretty serious judgment problems which don't just randomly occur... she'd already been abused or seriously neglected. Most girls aren't like this but there are a few in every school.
When something like this happens, people should look into the parents, really. - insomniac8400, on 10/11/2007, -1/+29Or just call sex what it really is, just sex. This whole notion of remorse being the same thing as rape is ridiculous.
- arthurp88, on 10/11/2007, -5/+31i tried to rape myself
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -2/+28Seems to me that they were both pressured into it by their sex drives and later regretted it. Neither was physically forcing the other to do anything, they just felt socially pressured. Perhaps the guy was too rough, but it seems like she didn't mention it to him. So I'd say either no one was raped or they both raped each other.
- mortigon, on 10/11/2007, -0/+24I wish instead of using A.A. and L.B. they used little Billy and little Susie... I was a little confuseded :(
- tomis, on 10/11/2007, -3/+25Sounds to me like they had sex willingly multiple times, then separately people found out who they didn't want to know so to cover their tracks they both made up stories about the other person "forcing" them and it just snow-balled. Both kids are liars. They deserve each other. Hopefully the judge rules that they must marry each other.
- floridiot2, on 10/11/2007, -2/+24Aggravated criminal sodomy? Shut the ***** up.
- reeder, on 10/11/2007, -4/+24Wow, you're a real winner pal.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -2/+21Most normal people have sex at 13, 14, 15, 16 , 17, i see nothing wrong with a 17 year old and a 15 year old having sex as long as they use some sort of protection or birth control. Because we all did the same thing at their age. 17 and 15 your ok, 18 and 15 your going to jail! so whats the difference i ask?
- Firehed, on 10/11/2007, -0/+16Legalese always beats physics.
- pinkSocks, on 10/11/2007, -1/+16You've got to be kidding me. These were two _thirteen year old kids_ and the fact that she "felt forced into it" hardly corresponded with the facts. If the boy put pressure on the girl, so long as he's not physically making her do anything, it's not his fault if she's too incompetent or meek to stand up to him. Telling a girl you really want something does not constitute rape. Not to mention the fact that, later that afternoon, she just had oral sex with him again! Wtf? And as far as your three categories go, her quote that she “felt really bad" afterwards pretty much defines your category of "Regret," doesn't it?
The girl certainly does need help. From whatever environment she was raised in. It seems clear that she's been raised with an inability to think before she acts, and care little for how this not only affects her, but the boy in the situation as well. - wolfsktaag, on 10/11/2007, -0/+15if simply pressuring a chick into sex is what passes for rape these days, we better start locking up all the middle-aged husbands in america
- viviwanu, on 10/11/2007, -0/+14Girl has sex with boy. Boy dumps her. Girl cries date rape.
- Aero347, on 10/11/2007, -0/+13Let's not turn this into harrasment, that kind of ***** only emboldens lawyers.
- colberrep, on 10/11/2007, -0/+13oh yeah white people don't like sex at all
- zushiba, on 10/11/2007, -0/+12“We have a young girl who needed help...and she hasn't received help,” said Shores. “The message we are sending to our daughters is that it's better to say nothing at all than get help. We're basically telling them to shut up.”
No but I'll tell you to shut up, it's always assumed that the guy is the aggressor, it couldn't possibly be fathomable that she had any sex drive at all. Give me a break.
Chances are more likly the situation went like this.
They both did it, They both liked it, They both agreed to do it again. Then one of them did something the other got pissy about. I dunno, refused to trade a pokemon card or something and she cried rape. - KMye, on 10/11/2007, -3/+15Can someone tell me how it's possible to simultaneously rape someone whilst being raped by them?
- colberrep, on 10/11/2007, -0/+11yeah what town was that in again?
- hassanchop13, on 10/11/2007, -0/+11unless one of them threatened the other or something, since it seems like there was no actual force involved, how is it rape at all?
to me, it seems like the girl regretted doing it, talkd to an adult who over reacted and then the boy was like wtf and said the exact opposite story of the girl, when in the end, its just dumb all around. - pinkSocks, on 10/11/2007, -0/+10Or everyone could just accept the fact that teenagers have sex and sometimes regret it, and drop everything.
- DruSam, on 10/11/2007, -0/+10Yes, date rape usually only happens with black people. I'm glad we got that relevant fact out of the way. Morons.
- chroto, on 10/11/2007, -0/+10when are people going to realize that simply regretting having consented to sex is not the same as being raped.
- resplence, on 10/11/2007, -0/+10"This whole notion of remorse being the same thing as rape is ridiculous."
Exactly. I'm shocked at how common this seems to be on the US. I'm glad I don't live there. If every girl that regretted sleeping with me could press charges I wouldn't know where to hide... - colberrep, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9why did she hang out with him the next day? this is obvious bs
- colberrep, on 10/11/2007, -4/+13the difference is right wingers are jealous and don't want anyone else to have fun. so they want to legislate people's bodies (war on drugs)
- jj9000, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9I think he yelled "FIRE!" and maced himself.
- noahhoward, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9Wow, what the hell is wrong with people here. Have we not read that the one thin both kids agree on is that the girl started it?
- TwwIX, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9Man,the laws in the US are really ***** up.(among other things)
Kids can't even play doctor anymore. - tech42er, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8Well, then blame the teacher (or the principal). The girl didn't say it was rape, just that she felt bad. The teacher went to the police and said the girl was raped.
- Puppetfunk, on 10/11/2007, -2/+10I thought sodomy was a fancy word for butt sex? Wouldn't that mean she raped him in the ass?
- noahhoward, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8The boy is being charged with the same thing.
- InfinitySnatch, on 10/11/2007, -1/+9Everything is rape!
- dougbell, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8I was laying more pipe then a plumber at 13. Sounds like you were a late bloomer.
- skratchnerd, on 10/11/2007, -2/+10and live in the midwest forever!
- ricree, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7Technically, neither of them can consent to sex. All in all, it's a pretty ass backwards way of handling things.
- aj28, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7Sounds like they had consensual sex to me... Regardless of age, since when did regret become synonymous with rape?
- quarkie, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7I personally think that most of those ages are too young for having sex. I know I was definitely not ready to have sex at age 13 and I consider myself a fairly mature person. The real problem is the people who tend to have sex the earliest are the people who aren't ready for it.
I think that 13 year olds having sex are too young. To handle the responsibility of possible pregnancy, STDs, etc... Same with 14s, and 15. 16 most are still too young and immature. 17 some more are ready, 18 more, etc.. etc.. Hell some people I know shouldn't even be having sex at 25.
I close with the words of Jack Handy:" I believe we should make the world a safer place for our children; but not for our children's children - children shouldn't be having sex." - voetsjoeba, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7Read the comment above you again, more carefully this time. You will be forced to conclude that she brought it upon herself.
- Firehed, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7In this backwards country, it doesn't really matter. It's about revenge or money (or, more likely, both).
- AWBoy666, on 10/11/2007, -6/+131) No truth can possibly deduced in this case and we'll probably never know what really happened since it's just one person's story against another's.
2) This really wasn't either child's fault. This was the ***** parents. Where the ***** were they when this was going on!?! THEY should be put in prison.
3) I'm not sure the law should have ANYTHING to do with this incident. Sounds like kids doing something stupid (no matter what).
4) There's no way the boy should be convicted of rape considering the girl could lie and say anything she wants. -
