- LawScholar, on 06/25/2009, -5/+148There's a reason the U.S. and U.K. are buddies. We argue a lot, but we both kick some ***** ass when put on the spot. Good on ya, Royal Marines.
- stutimandal, on 03/26/2009, -11/+124Finally some good news.
- gcnaddict, on 03/27/2009, -10/+117M-M-M-M-MONSTER KILL
- GoKings, on 03/27/2009, -5/+107Agree or disagree with the war, you have to give it up to these fine soldiers. They're doing something most of us would never do.
- nydwarf, on 03/27/2009, -7/+91Achievement Unlocked!
- inactive, on 03/27/2009, -16/+98Pure awesome. Please accept Thanks from the sane people on this side of the world.
- inactive, on 03/27/2009, -3/+76Royal marines are the United Kingdom.
- AlyxVance, on 03/27/2009, -0/+42"They were backed by Apache and Cobra gunships, F16 jets, unmanned drones, battle tanks, 105mm artillery guns and 81mm mortar barrels. "
I almost feel bad for the Taliban lol - TomGfromCanada, on 03/27/2009, -8/+44death to taliban!
- Someb0dy, on 03/27/2009, -7/+43Commando's with their well deserved cigars. That's just pure awesome.
- Kestrel, on 03/27/2009, -3/+39The US doesn't have ROYAL Marines... because you aren't a kingdom.
The ROYAL marines are British. - analogkid01, on 03/27/2009, -1/+27Royal Marines, not US Marines. But I guess whatever gets your rocks off.
- slipp3h, on 03/27/2009, -2/+28If only there was a royal marine with a Cpt. Price style mustache, this could be the best article ever
- heynow21, on 03/27/2009, -3/+28They throw acid in little girls faces to keep them from school. ***** em.
- BassMastr, on 03/27/2009, -3/+27You should see what those "other people" would like to do to you. I know it's easy to sit back and play arm chair analysts...good for you. Way to make a difference.
- TheUnlearn, on 03/27/2009, -0/+21Britain! ***** Yeah!
- wilf_brim, on 03/27/2009, -2/+23Good on ya all, 3 Commando, from this side of the pond. Predator attacks and precision guided bombs dropped from 15k feet help, but ultimately it takes aggressive action on the ground to win any armed conflict. Well done.
- Hetman, on 03/27/2009, -7/+26I was always taught never to be happy about the slaughter of my enemies. It is barbaric. It might be necessary but that does not mean people should be happy about it. We should not take pleasure in death. If we do it makes us just as bad as our enemies.
- tashtego67, on 03/27/2009, -2/+20Congratulations to the Royal Marines. Hopefully the Taliban will be exterminated.
- xXGrimreapaXx, on 03/27/2009, -2/+19GODLIKE!
- inactive, on 03/27/2009, -2/+18@iXam - if only we just left those poor, innocent Taliban Jihadists alone so they could go back to concentrating on the next 9/11.
***** tool. - mushrooms538, on 03/27/2009, -4/+18honest mistake. My bad.
- skc0der, on 03/27/2009, -3/+17Good or bad news, all I hear about is Obama and pot being closer and closer to legalization.
- Mark733, on 03/27/2009, -2/+16to bad these marines are from the UK. "England-***** Yeah!" (not the same is it?)
- inactive, on 03/27/2009, -1/+15good effort, just poor application, maybe next time.
- inactive, on 03/27/2009, -2/+15There's good news like this all the time, you just have to look for it. It's more profitable for the media to sell doom and gloom than it is to sell pride and nationalism.
- patburke1980, on 03/27/2009, -4/+17thank god the RAF and RM are on our side. Would not want to f*ck with those guys at all.
i wish they (and us) didn't have to be there - but certainly appreciate the british support. - Dustmuffins, on 03/27/2009, -0/+13On digg. You can find news like this all the time in the last few years.
- trapper2530, on 03/27/2009, -0/+13if im not mistaken the British and the United States are allies in this war, so doesnt that mean that this goes as a win for both countries as well as the rest of the world?
- tehknotte, on 03/27/2009, -2/+15that's not what he said. he means people like you are not thankful.
- jrm71588, on 03/27/2009, -3/+16God you are such a massive tool
- Wargala, on 03/27/2009, -6/+18@ixam
You see, this is why Digg users should only comment on things like the latest iphone release.
EVERYONE is for this war that has a brain in their heads. Even Almighty Obama is for the war "against those that attacked us on 9/11 and their supporters", and that includes the Taliban.
Or are you too partisan to pay attention to world events?
Idiot - inactive, on 03/27/2009, -1/+13I accept your apology.
- JGang05, on 03/27/2009, -5/+17I call *****. These Taliban are out to hurt other people, good people. Has 9-11 not taught you anything? Everyone in this world is not good. In this case, death is good.
- Tophmeister, on 03/27/2009, -1/+12WICKED SICK
- BassMastr, on 03/27/2009, -4/+15Didn't we kick their asses out of our country once already and then bail their asses out twice again after that?
Just kidding...Way to go Royal Marines. - AdGre1, on 03/27/2009, -0/+9aren't the ROYAL marines british?
- dixta, on 03/27/2009, -1/+11UUUNNNSTOPPABLE!!!
- inactive, on 03/27/2009, -2/+12Yeah right. You keep dealing out casualty ratios like 130 dead, 300 wounded to your TWO wounded, and sooner or later, even the most fanatical of Jihadists are going to figure out how hopeless their cause is.
- broncfan23, on 03/27/2009, -3/+12Give 'em hell, boys
- darklights, on 03/27/2009, -0/+9So what are you saying, the british are more efficient?
- Larsonal777, on 03/27/2009, -1/+9cardyology... did you read the article? only 130 people died in this raid... and ALL of them were terrorists. Want to know the thing about terrorists? It only takes one person with a bomb strapped to his chest to do a lot of damage... this was a stronghold... that means it wasn't 130 guys that could just bomb by themselves... it was 130 guys that could recruit other terrorists to send THEM off to do their bidding.... this is a good thing... oh and don't forget that they also stopped at least 300 OTHER insurgents during this raid. It's called progress
- Dragonskies, on 03/27/2009, -2/+10"Base is under attack."
- fix8ed, on 03/27/2009, -1/+9No, its great to finally see a coalition success story on Digg.
- patburke1980, on 03/27/2009, -0/+8did you not pick up on the british accents?
- ThreeDee912, on 03/27/2009, -2/+10Yeah, I hate the Taliban for causing 9/11 too, but have you ever thought they were simply raised to act that way as children?
I'm trying to be unbiased here. They hate us, so they kill us. We hate them, so we kill them. This cycle will never end because there will always be people hating each other.
Who are the actual "good" people here?
We were actually *allied* with Osama bin Laden when we were fighting the Soviets way back when, until we decided to abruptly end the alliance, which left Afghanistan ruined.
From the KKK and Neo-Nazis, to those gunmen in Northern Ireland, there are crazy radicals everywhere.
As for them trying to "destroy the Western world" and spread their ideals, aren't we doing the same, trying to "destroy" them, and spread our ideals around the world? - Joemedic, on 03/27/2009, -6/+14Good for them.
- trefitch, on 03/27/2009, -0/+8FTA: "Our Boys suffered just two wounded compared to up to 300 injured insurgents."
The article doesn't say how many Taliban insurgents there were. What it does say is for every British injury, there were up to ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY Taliban injuries. What would you suggest to make it more "successful"? Send in less soldiers with less support? Brilliant. - alvination, on 03/27/2009, -2/+10Good job from across the pond!
- Sabretou, on 03/27/2009, -1/+9FLAWLESS VICTORY!
