      Tranquillizers take a while to take effect...all they accomplish in a scenario like this is pissing off the lion even more. The last thing you need than an angry lion mauling a trainer is a angry lion with a needle sticking out of its stomach mauling a trainer.
    • KuntaKinte, on 10/12/2007, -2/+22considering the cruelty animals go through in a circus or some zoos, this lion was probably not well supervised, fed, maintained. it was a ticking time bomb, better this happen here than during a live show or near kids even though it was unfortunate that they didn't act faster which could have saved the lion's life and could have gotten the guy out of there in a better state.

      I agree that they didn't have the right technique, but in situations like this, ANY sort of chest compression is beneficial, outweighing any risk of rib fracture and such.

      I'm not some PETA freak, but I honestly felt worse for the lion than the guy by the end of that. He was in the lion's cage, he should respect what he's dealing with and realize that lions kill animals that are much bigger than him without any problem. It's also obvious that these people aren't prepared for this kind of attack (a tranquilizer during the supposed 45 minutes the other trainer was holding the lion back would have been very effective), so one can make the assumption that this isn't the best habitat for a lion. The guy might as well have shoved his own neck in the lion's mouth. So yeah, one of them "deserved" it for certain.

The blood pool means that the blood was still flowing inside the lion several minutes after it was shot. Sad to see it die that way...but then again, sad to see a guy get mauled.

Caging a ***** lion then shooting it multiple times ( but not completely killing it ) because it is doing what its suppose to. I personally believe that the lion in this clip was Jesus Christ and those son of bitches just killed him AGAIN. When he comes back in 2012 I hope he gets these a-holes personally, if only for himself.

    On a side note, I think we should ban all firearms because of this incident.

      Outlaw firearms, and only outlaws will have firearms; I wish it weren't true - I personally dislike guns, myself. But it's reality. In this case, unfortunately, Pandora's box has already been opened.

I wish there could have been another way to save the man. Seems to me that the lion's keepers were negligent and irresponsible in their lack of preparation for just such an emergency.

    That's what happens when you take predators from the wild, put them in cages, and then proceed to get into the ***** cage with them. The lion was just being a lion.

    "He is my brother, he is the lion tamer. I told him the lion is aggitated today but he wouldn't listen. The lion attacked him 20 times before I could grab him and hold his head back against the bars...see there? The bars are bent."

    Having a large zoo and keeping each animal in a place similar to its environment is understandable, but keeping
    them caged deserves punishment in my book. The problem here is, the lion have chosen the wrong guy to eat.
