- wasd, on 10/12/2007, -3/+18Just crazy. Wow.....
- Greyhaven7, on 10/12/2007, -3/+14Holy *****... I can not imagine what that was like. The terror must've been imense.
- Yashar, on 10/12/2007, -1/+39He was speaking Farsi., some things he said:
The trainer was holding the lion for over 45 minutes while help arrived. Throughout the video he was calling for a gun. (no idea why it took so long) - AhrenBa, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11That was extremely graphic. I can't imagine what was going through everyone's minds at that time. Wow...that is horrible.
- metamorfoza, on 10/12/2007, -1/+39I *liked* the way the guy with gun came in. It was like "WTF is this?! bang, bang, bang"
Also, I don't understand though why they didn't have some kind of tranquilizers, considering that they have a lion 'ruining' around.
anyway , intense and disturbing nevertheless. - Lux7, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14Yeah, they were speaking Farsi.
They kept saying, "Shoot it in it's head!".
But yeah... really graphic. - edilclyde, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7the guys dont know how to do CPR correctly.. yet atleast the guy lived..
i know this might sound cruel but i kinda giggled a bit when the medic came running then drops the medic box and leaves.... its like he said.. " ***** this im leaving "
and yeah... very Graphic.. - bashar129, on 10/12/2007, -5/+4"Also, I don't understand though why they didn't have some kind of tranquilizers, considering that they have a lion 'ruining' around."
Tranquillizers take a while to take effect...all they accomplish in a scenario like this is pissing off the lion even more. The last thing you need than an angry lion mauling a trainer is a angry lion with a needle sticking out of its stomach mauling a trainer. - KuntaKinte, on 10/12/2007, -2/+22considering the cruelty animals go through in a circus or some zoos, this lion was probably not well supervised, fed, maintained. it was a ticking time bomb, better this happen here than during a live show or near kids even though it was unfortunate that they didn't act faster which could have saved the lion's life and could have gotten the guy out of there in a better state.
- daridave, on 11/11/2007, -13/+1I hope that guy is OK.
But seriously, why in the heck weren't they equiped against this?
Bastard lion didn't give up... eat ***** and die, biiiach!! xD - TheGreenBastard, on 10/12/2007, -2/+44The lion is better off...
The rest of it's life would've been spent in a cage, being tortured by these assholes.
Leave them in the wild. Circuses are so 19th century. - sherwinn, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9***** stupid idiots. I hate all these people. I'm Iranian and I'm ashamed to be associated with them. They killed a lion for nothing. What did you expect would happen, *****? Leave wild animals in the WILD, for ***** sake, what is wrong with the human species? Why must we ***** with EVERYTHING?
- DogHumpsMonkey, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3Bury, wrong reply
- george@CASE, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@edilclyde
I agree that they didn't have the right technique, but in situations like this, ANY sort of chest compression is beneficial, outweighing any risk of rib fracture and such.
- reddevil3, on 10/12/2007, -2/+27Damn...at least the guy is alive.
Wtf was he doing there in the first place?- chedderfiend, on 10/12/2007, -1/+69what was that little DOG doing there. If i were the lion I woulda eaten that little fluffy dog-snack, bite size + not followed by immediate death
- sacr3dc0w, on 10/12/2007, -12/+7Maybe he thought the dog was Timon from Lion King?
- NanoStuff, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9"Wtf was he doing there in the first place?"
Giving the lion the daily beating to keep him submissive. Must have been on vacation the day before. - ICSU, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Did you notice the small dog walking around without troubles? The lion obviously had a good reason to attack that guy.
- EvilFerret, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I'm willing to bet they threw the dog in there hoping the lion go after it instead.
- VivaLaNation, on 11/11/2007, -26/+3no one has a gun?
- tw0bit, on 11/11/2007, -25/+20...how do you think the lion dyed you dumb ass...
on a sidenote, that yelp the lion made as i rolled over and put its arm over its face made me feel terrible - thenativeraver, on 11/11/2007, -8/+35*Died
- thestorey, on 10/12/2007, -8/+3*he not you.
- giynn, on 10/12/2007, -15/+2Tw0bit, you're an idiot. No one said "How did the lion die?" Why would you say, "How do you think the lion DYED?" What the *****? I hate ignorant people so, so, so ***** much.
- tw0bit, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Well GIYNN, I was simply pointing out the fact that the lion was killed as a result of a firearm. The above poster asked if someone had a gun. I thought this very fool, as even the most unsophisticated mind would be able to determine the police officer did indeed have a gun and did discharge it into this lion's skull. I fail to see your point about my ignorance. And saying you hate ALL ignorant people is ignorant itself...
- tw0bit, on 11/11/2007, -25/+20...how do you think the lion dyed you dumb ass...
- yoadrian, on 10/12/2007, -2/+22In case you wanted this translated. they are speaking in farsi. that guy was at first begging someone to help him. then when he got dragged in they were saying to hit the lion on the head with something. they were telling the officer to shoot it in the head. again. and again.
and on that note... that was a pimp gun the cop had.- PJBonoVox, on 10/12/2007, -8/+3That's a rough video to watch.
Although I can't help wondering, why didn't they just get something heavy and cave the lion's skull in? Or at least knock it unconscious? - technogenius, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3@yoadrin: I wouldn't call it a 'pimp' gun. Looked like a .44, you had close range and multiple shots-- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.44 -- while it is a powerful gun, it's nothing special
- Goner, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12@PJBonoVox -- you be in charge of hitting the lion on the head, m'kay?
- PJBonoVox, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Hehe, I mean through the bars in the cage, surely it's do-able?
- PJBonoVox, on 10/12/2007, -8/+3That's a rough video to watch.
- durru7, on 10/12/2007, -2/+38I feel bad for both the guy and the lion, he acted off his instincts.
sad :(- kakwakas, on 10/12/2007, -5/+39You can take the animal out of the wild, but you can't take the wild out of the animal...
- mehss, on 10/12/2007, -5/+5Exactly my thoughts.
- exoendo, on 11/11/2007, -4/+8"but you can't take the wild out of the animal..."
except when you shoot it.
- 47knight, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Yashar, any idea if he survived?
- xXShadowstormXx, on 10/12/2007, -13/+4Wow, that's cool ... always wanted to see a video of someone being eaten alive by a lion ...
Very disturbing... - bIuebonics, on 10/12/2007, -5/+10well... sucks for the guy but umm... it's a lion. i'm pretty sure lions do things like that. lion /= domesticated cat....
- Spyscience, on 10/12/2007, -10/+5i have a hard time seeing caged animals and am not surprised the lion wanted a piece of his captors.
- ajmarenco, on 10/12/2007, -20/+7HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
See thats what happens when you try to manage wild animals ... I was a bit sorry for the lion, really, they should had killed the guy not the LION !!!! Idiots.- plague, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3He "deserved" it? None of this would have ever happened if the lion was just left alone in the wild where he belongs. Capture an animal with that kind of killing ability and put it in a small cage and you're just asking for trouble.
I'm not some PETA freak, but I honestly felt worse for the lion than the guy by the end of that. He was in the lion's cage, he should respect what he's dealing with and realize that lions kill animals that are much bigger than him without any problem. It's also obvious that these people aren't prepared for this kind of attack (a tranquilizer during the supposed 45 minutes the other trainer was holding the lion back would have been very effective), so one can make the assumption that this isn't the best habitat for a lion. The guy might as well have shoved his own neck in the lion's mouth. So yeah, one of them "deserved" it for certain.
- plague, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3He "deserved" it? None of this would have ever happened if the lion was just left alone in the wild where he belongs. Capture an animal with that kind of killing ability and put it in a small cage and you're just asking for trouble.
- ideefix, on 10/12/2007, -5/+4lucky guy, but don't thing he gonna enter into a cage with a lion again
- Heckler1337, on 10/12/2007, -8/+6I can't believe they just let the lion suffer to death, at least walk up to it and put it out of its misery instead of just letting bleed to death.
- bashar129, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6I agree, after they got the guy out of the cage and were giving him medical treatment the lion was still moaning in agony...the guy that shot it could have just walked up and put one between the eyes. The blood pool means that the blood was still flowing inside the lion several minutes after it was shot. Sad to see it die that way...but then again, sad to see a guy get mauled.
- sherwinn, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Why are you sad he got mauled? Why waste emotion on people who choose this line of work --- caging wild animals for show -- and then act stupidly and enter the cage? Respect the animal and you have no problems. How do you respect a lion? NOT PUT IT IN A CAGE!
- dbug, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Just goes to show how much these people care about their animals. Once the man was in safety every decent human being would have put the lion out of its agony next. But in some countries, people just don't think like this about animals. You really don't want to know how animals are treated in some parts of china, it would make you fking sick.
- NoTiG, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1um.. didn't the guy die? they were doing cpr on him at the end as if he wasn't breathing.
- EvilDr.X, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3And then later on, he was conscious and moaning in pain. Don't know the end result, but he wasn't dead at the end of the video, anyway.
- tektalk, on 10/12/2007, -21/+8@ajmarenco
I have three things to say to you
1. ***** PETA and the rest of you animal abuse protesters who think its great to side with the animals
2.You are ***** retarded to make fun of a situation like this
3. I have doubts whether you are a human or an immature 11-year old unworthy of an account on digg.- nick111, on 10/12/2007, -5/+9Well err... quite.
But on that note, ***** people who are cruel to animals.
- nick111, on 10/12/2007, -5/+9Well err... quite.
- dzlpwr, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7He wont do it again.
- Katana314, on 10/12/2007, -16/+5What's even more disturbing than the video is the fact that all of you voluntarily watched this.
- ckedge, on 10/12/2007, -2/+21It's already happened. Nothing is going to change that. Whether we watch it or not - the past is the past.
Information is knowledge. And we learn from "our" mistakes.
- ckedge, on 10/12/2007, -2/+21It's already happened. Nothing is going to change that. Whether we watch it or not - the past is the past.
- axwel, on 10/12/2007, -32/+4Dying in the jaws of an animal is an honorable death, you now what is not honorable? Caging a ***** lion then shooting it multiple times ( but not completely killing it ) because it is doing what its suppose to. I personally believe that the lion in this clip was Jesus Christ and those son of bitches just killed him AGAIN. When he comes back in 2012 I hope he gets these a-holes personally, if only for himself.
On a side note, I think we should ban all firearms because of this incident.- EvilDr.X, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7I assume you're joking, but just in case... what exactly is "honorable" about being killed by an animal? Seems to me, short of autoerotic asphyxiation, it would be one of the most embarassing ways to go.
And not completely killing it? Looked pretty dead to me. - labmouse42, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13Honorable death?
An honorable death is dying during oral sex, not getting eaten by a big cat. - voyvf, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Ban all firearms? What the *****? Banning the caging of wild animals for entertainment purposes, I could see. Banning people from being stupid enough to get in the cage *with* the aforementioned wild animals, I could see. But banning firearms?
No. As much as I hate to admit it, a firearm solved this incident.
Outlaw firearms, and only outlaws will have firearms; I wish it weren't true - I personally dislike guns, myself. But it's reality. In this case, unfortunately, Pandora's box has already been opened.
- EvilDr.X, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7I assume you're joking, but just in case... what exactly is "honorable" about being killed by an animal? Seems to me, short of autoerotic asphyxiation, it would be one of the most embarassing ways to go.
- whobutsb, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12Leave the animals in the wild. Go on a safari if you want to see them, or watch Planet Earth. Absolutely no reason to keep lions, tigers, bears in a zoo or a circus.
- bIuebonics, on 10/12/2007, -3/+19you'll change your mind once you see the unicycle riding, flaming bowling pin juggling, twinkle twinkle little star grunting bear.
- EvilDr.X, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Lions, tigers, and bears? Oh, my.
- bobus2, on 10/12/2007, -11/+5the Cat thought he was getting Mexican Takeout
- tyywebb, on 10/12/2007, -5/+4How long is this video? I stopped around 7 mins.
- Hale, on 10/12/2007, -1/+69 minutes and 12 seconds
- thienrry, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2I can understand people being sympathetic with animals or thinking they shouldn't have killed it, but saying that that man deserved to have died is just way too far.
- RedHeadedFreak, on 10/12/2007, -4/+11Oh, that lion must have been confused. He thought he was on top of the food chain...nope, king of the jungle has guns now. Sorry lion, you messed with the wrong predator.
- labmouse42, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3Humans have had technology capable of killing big cats for much longer than we have had guns.
Take 20 men, give them all spears and watch them hunt down a loin. - RedHeadedFreak, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Oh I know, we've been king of the jungle for a long time now. And on another note, it seems that the PETA people would be pretty indifferent to this video. At least the lion is free from captivity now. They wanted Knut the polar bear to die because in their eyes, it's better for an animal to die than be in human captivity.
- labmouse42, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3Humans have had technology capable of killing big cats for much longer than we have had guns.
- gerrylazlo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3I would love to know what the back story is on this. And even though I'm glad the guy survived (I assume), even with 4 shots the lion died horribly, and was just doing all it knows to do. Poor fella.
- RedHeadedFreak, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3Ignorance is no defense in the eyes of the law.
- beckssoccer23, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1@redheadedfreak
i don't think the laws of man apply to animals of the wild. animals rely on their instincts while humans try to replace their instincts with laws. according to what you're saying, our household pets must learn to obey each of our laws.
i can't wait to send my pet to law school. Mr. Biscuits needs to do well in order to get his treat. - RedHeadedFreak, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1@ beckssoccer
Um, this lion disobeyed man and he was killed. I'd say our rules apply to the lion whether he knows it or not. - plague, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2@redheadedfreak
The same would be true if someone just picked you up off the street one day, threw you in a cage, and didn't tell you why you were there or what the rules were. Then one day they shot you in the face because you "disobeyed" them. While you lay there bleeding to death, you can try to figure out why this all happened to you...
- Hale, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Can anyone translate what the trainer says in the interview at the end?
- tastypastry, on 10/12/2007, -7/+4They did the CPR completely wrong.
- ckedge, on 10/12/2007, -8/+5Man - I didn't see ANYBODY apply pressure to the wounds. Not even the guys who were medics. Don't they even know their basic first aid in that country?
- viviwanu, on 10/12/2007, -14/+6Too bad the guy didn't die! Humans are the meanest, the most cruel, and the most violent animals that take pleasure in other species suffering.
- axwel, on 10/12/2007, -5/+5whoa there guy...i have a second-cousin that happens to be human and she is actually pleasant to be around. Please racist remarks aren't necessary.
- akifbayram, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3Wow, just wow.
Like said countless times before, PETA isn't taken lightly around here.
- dmgctrl, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Difficult to watch.
- tastypastry, on 10/12/2007, -6/+3How funny would it have been if the cop had shot the guy?
- akifbayram, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2Not at all.
- berfmurret, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3haha. and that was his only bullet?? and the dude died.. and then the lion ate the dude until all there was left was bone.. and then the lion busted through the bars and ate the cop too? ***** YES!!!!!! that would have ruled!!!
- K4P741NxKRUNCH, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1..What will Prince do now?!
- MScrip, on 10/12/2007, -5/+3That was horrible. Why didn't they have tranquilizers on site if they were handling live "wild" animals? It makes me sad that the lion had to die because it was being a lion.
- SilleeString, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3That video was insane IMO. That was really tough to watch. I ditched about 6-7 minutes in but I saw all the carnage. It's sad that they had to kill the lion, but it looked to me like it had to be done.
- EngineerX, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Man, that was very disturbing. Now we see how it must have been for our hominid ancestors to survive and ultimately give birth to us. The lion wasn't even very serious in most of its attack it could have killed the man minutes before the cop arrived.
- EvilDr.X, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4Ever watch a cat eat its prey? They usually don't kill it right away, sadistic ***** that they are.
- truspark, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5I'm sorry for this guy but whenever I see something like this I will always take the side of the wild animal. ***** anyone who will cage another being. I don't go to zoos and I don't go to circuses. That being said, I have no idea what circumstances this poor soul who was mauled was in that he had to take this job but as Lucas Jackson said to the guy who was putting him in the box: "Calling it your job don't make it right". Let all who have life enjoy it to the fullest and make no man nor beast a slave.
- theoristbj, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11Li-ownd!
- schedz251, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1wow... the first 9 minutes were intense and very disturbing until the guy was revived...probably the most disturbing video i;ve ever seen....feel sorry for that person... hopefully he can overcome the terror.....totally saved from the jaws of death..
- tuxidomasx, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4i woulda bit it back
see how HE likes it - eubean, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1*****. The guy deserved to be mauled because obviously he did SOMETHING wrong, even if it was simply giving the lion a shot. It's his fault he didn't have the lion held back. It is crazy and awful that they shot the lion. Hello, tranquilizers?
You don't kill a ***** captured animal after it instinctively attacks. - todfather, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1I'd rather not have seen this on a couple of levels. no digg from me, this is not the content I want to see on digg,
- dbug, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1If you can't figure out from the title that is a very disturbing video of a man being attacked and mauled by a lion and then decide whether you would like to watch a very disturbing video of a man being attacked and mauled by a lion or not, then maybe you're not someone we want to see on digg.
- todfather, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Disturbing can be used in many ways most aren't as offensive and you don't have to be a dick about it!
- todfather, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1oh yeah one more thing, looked you up, apparently nobody (ok a high of 3 people) gives a ***** what you say, you comment more than my mom and nobody diggs you up, are your feelings hurt and that's why your lashing out?
- dbug, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1If you can't figure out from the title that is a very disturbing video of a man being attacked and mauled by a lion and then decide whether you would like to watch a very disturbing video of a man being attacked and mauled by a lion or not, then maybe you're not someone we want to see on digg.
- mp3dog, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Obviously it had to be done in this particular case, but it really sucked seeing that lion get killed and hearing that last roar. I wish there could have been another way to save the man. Seems to me that the lion's keepers were negligent and irresponsible in their lack of preparation for just such an emergency.
- giynn, on 10/12/2007, -5/+11. Absolute terror for the person in the cage being attacked.
2. The lion must've been American.
3. It's got to feel great to shoot an animal attacking a human being.
4. Life is surreal. - mcottier, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I figured out why the dog was in that cage to. They were trying to see if they put the dog in there, if the lion would leave the guy and go eat it. But of course it didn't and the dog just wandered around wondering what the hell was going on.
- tize, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Despite the blood, his injuries didn't seem extremely severe. Seems like Crocodile attacks and other animal attacks end worse and sooner with loss of limbs and death.
- Frisbinator, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Yikes, poor dude in the lion's mouth! That video definitely made me NEVER want to work with lions.
- zach4390, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Oh my, I know they had to kill it but I feel really, really bad for it. I wanted to cry when I heard the sounds it made before it died :(
- dime, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I felt kind of bad hearing the lion in his death groans?
That's what happens when you take predators from the wild, put them in cages, and then proceed to get into the ***** cage with them. The lion was just being a lion.
I did kind of giggle at that little clueless Bichon trying to get away from the commotion, though. - waluum, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4I say this was justice in nature. I don't rejoice in the suffering of this man, the suffering of his friends and family, or even in the shooting of the lion, but I am glad at the site of justice of a wild animal taking retribution for its ensalvement.
It's a WILD ANIMAL, and a LION even! What the hell do they expect to happen? - bakedpajamas, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Don't mess with the lions...
- TheGovernor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Wow, those guys were persian. They were speaking farsi!
The guy being interviewed at the end says:
"He is my brother, he is the lion tamer. I told him the lion is aggitated today but he wouldn't listen. The lion attacked him 20 times before I could grab him and hold his head back against the bars...see there? The bars are bent." - burkay, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Killing a lion to save a man's life is ok, but somebody needs to be "punished" for prisoning that lion to make money.
Having a large zoo and keeping each animal in a place similar to its environment is understandable, but keeping
them caged deserves punishment in my book. The problem here is, the lion have chosen the wrong guy to eat. -
