- gl77, on 03/31/2008, -11/+47keep waiting for him to bust out in a hilarious facial expression.......didnt deliver....
- Minim4c, on 10/10/2007, -9/+5I was waiting for that too, then about half way I realized he was being serious. This man was born to play one role, and only one role. :P
- vajra918, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9Really?
The Truman Show?
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind?- JCSaint, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2Granted. But what about the Majestic and 23? (I haven't actually seen them but have been warned by many not to go near them.)
- Hermitwise, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3I liked the Majestic and he was good in 23 but the plot was way too obvious in 23.
- Scarfy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is the only movie that needs to be mentioned. He did and amazing job in that movie and really proved himself to be a versatile actor.

- Sethwm2, on 10/10/2007, -10/+2Nope, he has done some pretty ***** serious movies... And his acting sucked... He should be more like this in the movies... This is coming from the heart.
- xutopia, on 10/10/2007, -0/+36You should see him in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. He's serious aside from two funny moments and honestly he's an amazing actor!
- UglieJosh, on 10/10/2007, -2/+20The Truman Show is one of the most overlooked great movies of our time.
- bradjward, on 10/10/2007, -12/+7It's Myanmar, not Burma. It hasn't been Burma since 1989. Get it right, Jim!
- C00001, on 10/10/2007, -2/+21Actually, it's still Burma if you don't support the military government that took over and changed the name.
But if you're down with mass murder and rape and torture and imprisoning Nobel Peace Prize winners, and other things like that--then yeah, it's Myanmar.- Osjpr, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5So it's the United States of Myanmar then?
- iigloo, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Well they do use imperial units.

- johngarcia, on 10/10/2007, -3/+19Why is everyone wishing he would say something funny? Can he not just be a real person? Does he really HAVE to be Ace Ventura or Lloyd Christmas?

- centran, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Some of the displaced families who are homeless is terrible and yes we should help them.
However, a lot of the homeless so consciously choose to be homeless and others don't want to be homeless but it fits their drug/alcohol lifestyle. - knowyourrights, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2The homeless in this country (US) don't want help, the majority of them want to be homeless and it is a preferred choice of life. I'm not ***** you, go look it up.
- ascii63, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1No, we should deport our deadbeats to Burma.
- techmonkey4u, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Unfortunately, if we held in our consciousness this so-called 'awareness' about every injustice, disease, and undesirable condition/environment on the planet, we would have no room for anything else. Personally, I don't know where we would start to prioritize amongst all the bumper stickers, bracelets, youtube videos, web petitions, and all the various campaigns. I guess we're only human.. which, incidentally, is the cause for 99% of the things we should be aware of.
/no real point.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/5071288.stm - ichoudhury, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5You should also know that the same ragime butured hundreds and thousands of Rohingya People in Burma (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rohingya) . and caused them to flee their homeland and become refugee in neighboring country (such as Bangladesh) which already suffering from major economic depression for years! I guess nobody really care because its just too damn far (also, too many mountains) .... or perhaps nobody want to wake up the sleeping Dragon that guards it (China).
- kaunglei, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Rohingya people are not natives of the regions in Burma, moreover they made up fake history stating that they have lived in the region for thousands of years. The region i'm speaking of is Rakine (Arakan) State in which most people are pious Buddhists, and the border near Bangladesh was once known for having hundreds thousands of refugees from Bangladesh trying to come into Burma. There is a long history (not very sweet) between Bangladesh and Burma even before Bangladesh separated from India. and big issues about religions. Bangali's are not the most liked people among Burmese even in history.
It's nice of Jim to raise awareness about Burma and Aung San Suu Kyi, the military of burma has surely overstayed its welcome (since the 60's).

- Salanmon, on 10/10/2007, -3/+0And do think i was thought we was talking about another one of his bad Drama movies called "Bruma"
- 10nacity, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Earlier in January, the U.S. proposed a resolution in front of the UN Security Council for Burma's ongoing violations of human rights. It was voted 9-3 in favor to resolve, but two of the 3 rejecting votes came as vetoes from Russia and China, the two major trade partners of the junta in power. Thus the proposal was killed on the floor and no action was taken. Double vetoes are said to be very rare but in this case are believed to be bought.

- Darkside2984, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6I wonder if getting the Iraq maps to south africa might help this.
- Rekzai, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1lol
- ynggrsshppr, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Thank you for posting this video up. I'm surprised that Burma doesn't get more media coverage considering their state of affairs. I'm equally surprised the US doesn't take stricter measures against the military government. If we truly support "democracy" and "freedom" surely we should be helping these people instead of blowing things up/getting blown up in Iraq.
- oldhick, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0What do you recommend. We have sanctions in place, we currently provide aid. Burma has over 8 billion in foreign debt that they haven't made a payment on since the '80s... We've frozen assets of various financial institutions that were operated by the militia. We've placed travel restrictions on the militia government. We've pulled our ambassador to the region... Just what is it you people think can be done??? What do you think is going to happen Jim? Money won't solve the problem. Money won't free Aung Sung.
Someone please explain how this situation can be resolved non-violently. When you have vicious general who is killing is own people, imprisoning its intellectuals and leaders, what are you gonna do? I really would love to hear this one explained to me.- ynggrsshppr, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Well, we can try opening up. Instead of punishing, try rewarding. Carrot on a stick, if you will. The US and the UN always seem to take the ineffectual step of trying to isolate the offending country from the rest of the world. Russia and China are already working with Myanmar/Burma. Isolating it just gives the military government more power over its people instead of less.
- oldhick, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0So before we tried sanctions we were trading partners, we had an embassy, we were open. They began killing and imprisoning their people. At that time we were open and they still did it... What was the carrot on a stick plan there? Say "hey, I know you guys suck and all. The killing, raping, and imprisoning thing is pretty bad. But we don't want to punish you for it though because we know that won't work. Instead, we'll offer you a ton of money and aid as a reward."
Great scenario. I can't for the life of me figure out why that wouldn't work...

- Treoinmypocket, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Thank GOD Carrey is doing this! Those Burmese are totally lacking in awareness and it about time someone raised it.
.
On a side note...do you think celebs get together in a conference room and argue over who gets what country to become the poster -child for? I wonder if they get all violent with each other?
"***** YOU Carrey!!! Sudan's MINE you...you...***** COMIC! "

- oldhick, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0What do people recommend we do? Money won't get her out. The military regime isn't going to take cash to let her out so they can be overthrown. UN sanctions are going to do a damn thing and you all know it. You do realize that military force is the only thing that will free her. Just saying...
- clubmasta2, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1We did more for Iraq, why not give this country the same treatment?
- stimpack, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Because they have no oil and Israel doesn't want them destroyed.
- joot2112, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Simple answer: "nothing" in it for "us". Does anyone still believe the war in Iraq has something to do with human rights? Besides, I don't think any country wants to get the same treatment as Iraq.
- delmar14, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Still, money & support can't fix this problem alone...

- compucomp2, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1Blah blah blah, apparently Americans never tire of subjugating other countries in the name of "democracy" or "human rights", when it is obvious that all they want is global domination.
By the way, it's called Myanmar. Countries have the right to name themselves.- Sherazard, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2The generals who ***** up Burma 'named it' Myanmar.
Burma always and forever.
- Sherazard, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2The generals who ***** up Burma 'named it' Myanmar.
- DevlinD, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Myanmar is an absolutely wonderful country and the people there are a wonderful example of not judging a country by its government. In the town of Bagan I had the opportunity drive past the local headquarters for the National League of Democracy (NLD) which is the party Aung San Suu Kyi is affiliated with. However the only thing you see at this location is a building that looks like it is not fit to house even the lowest of the low. The sign outside still stands but the building itself looks like a bulldozer ran through it and then was set on fire. Even stopping to take a picture of this our driver warned us to keep our camera inside the car for fear that the police would see.
The madness in that country seriously must stop, no way people that open, honest, and friendly should deserve to be under the iron fist of a brutal military dictatorship. Gee I wonder why the US doesn't step in.....right....no oil....oh well. - burtreynolds, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Get a haircut, you goddamn hippie...
