- heysuburbia, on 10/12/2007, -9/+11How may times is this going to be POSTED!
Seriously everyvideogame.com and vNes have been on the front page at least 5 times in the last two months.
This was 12 days ago:
http://digg.com/playable_web_games/An_Online_NES_Emulator - jdivis, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8For all of those that keep bitching "This was on the front page x days ago..." bugg off. It's the way digg works. If users haven't seen a digg before (ie, they weren't digging the 10 minutes the first time the url was on the front page) and they like the story, they'll digg the story! Just like those that enjoyed the story the first time dugg the story... If you've already seen the story, move on, but quit bitching!
- thenativeraver, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13It's called nescafe the java based NES emulator.
http://www.davieboy.net/nescafe/
Here's another link:
http://andre.facadecomputer.com/nes/- djliquidice, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5SO many people are SOOOO far behind the times. This technology has been around over 2 years. Also, the original poster is in correct. you DO Need an emulator, the java emulator.
this will not work unless you have a compliant JRE. - WoundedTownsmen, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9No, this is not NESCafe; it's VNes, a different program written by a different author.
http://www.thatsanderskid.com/blog.php?id=40
By the way, Java isn't an emulator.either. - tamm3r, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1It would appear that this site is just nescafe with a bucketload of roms on. However as pointed out, it is a different emulator, apparently. Since nescafe is closed source its impossible to tell.
If you go to the nescafe site and read, apparently it can run in an applet mode to 'host on your own websites'.
None the less, fantastic find, takes me back! Contra for the win!! - tmcc, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Its easy to decompile Java apps back to readable/usable source code.
Its pretty interesting seeing hardware emulated within a Java application.

Tried the old "up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, b, a, b, a, select, start," on friggin Contra but couldnt get to work. Cant believe I still remember that dam cheat code.
BTW mario bros rules!- icepick314, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3strange...i got the Konami code to work...

^That's because B and A are only prushed once. It's Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A, Start. Select before start if you want two players. - SirPuppy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0it didn't work because it's not b a x2 it's only u, u, d, d, b, a, sel, st
- icepick314, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3strange...i got the Konami code to work...

Vnes is awesome though :D - tensionhead, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Anyone know if there's a way to mute the games?
- Mudcrutch, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13yes, turn off your speakers.
- brickbat, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6"s"
- Shorties, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13Isn't this like the 2nd (Or even 3rd?) time this has been on the front page in the last week?
- mooseblaster, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7It has, yes.
Talk about the goldfish effect.
- mooseblaster, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7It has, yes.

- TDTech, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6http://nesonline.info has 600+ nes games while vNES has 300+.
- BattleFish, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2is there a way to se up your own controls?
- foxhoundadmin, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3i really hope you're joking. you are joking... right?

PS: See the mad quakers day! - http://www.mczone.ru/fileinfo/videos/Quake/369 :-) - foxhoundadmin, on 10/12/2007, -8/+3if i had been born when the nes was king, i don't think i would be a gamer today. let's just put it that way.
thank god for 3d and the playstation!- atreyue, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1and people like you are exactly who so many games right now suck. looks pretty should never win out over great gameplay. I still have my nes hooked up to my tv next to my 360, and I'm not sure which one I play more.
- jizzimmy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3That's really awesome. I just hope it lasts.
- teknodreem, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Can Anyone do the "up,up, down, down, left, right, select, start" on Contra? I used do that all the time. I can't do it.
- EnjoyTheFact, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Great find and it's great to see all those games again but I am completely useless without the controller. A and Z being B and A is just uncomfortable in any position.
- CrookedAsterisk, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Does anyone else find this to be painfully slow? The gameplay, that is.
- ed.2112, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2http://www.thewebarcade.com
- Asystole, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Double Dragon II for the win =D Such an awesome game.
- CompIsMyRx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Damn you Java for not making a 64 bit Linux plugin!
- CompIsMyRx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I meant Sun. I'm an idiot.
- blaalien, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Go check out that Bible Adventures game under the unlicensed ones. The Noah's Arc portion is pretty funny.
- raptordrew, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4This definitely is in the wrong Digg category.
- superfork, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I posted this a while back
- jdivis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3"OK! Let's go rescue Sandy!"
- 00squirrel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Doesn't seem to work in Safari or Firefox for Mac :(
- ayeyen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Has anyone tried to get the ROMs from this site yet?
- forceflow, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Super Mario Bros has to be one of the best games ever created.
- nasium, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I had a hard time getting the controls to work in IE
- swifty12, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Can't wait until the future when we have websites like this for Ps2 and Xbox games
- CapeKid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Battletoads = digg
- spooniep, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2This has been reported so many times already on other blogs. Old news.
- chnz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Does anyone else have the same problem? I can't load any of the games, and I have java.
- gbuk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3So many games I didn't have time to beat when I was little. Now that I am in grad school I finally have the time!
- nasium, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2If you can't get the games to work, here is what i did. Update Java using the link provided on the site. Then try FireFox instead of IE, that seemed to do the trick for me. I had Java installed, but it didn't seem to work untill i updated Java. Hope this helps...
- Wisgary, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Oh my god, this has been done before, but never this well or with such a transparent and unintrusive UI. It is so fast, and the emulation is fast as well! No stutters, silky smooth! Absolutely great.
- osc1882, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I really don't get it.
The web based browsers never work as well as the best of the downloadable ones.
And it's not like NES roms are large to download.
In fact I downloaded a torrent with every NES rom ever ever made.
So yeah.. play in your browser if you want to.. but it seems kind of ass backwards. - Velirno, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Old news or not, this is a nice way to play a quick NES game without an emulator. Only thing I don't like though is the keys for A and B. Should've been next to each other but oh well.
- MercedRocks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Yah I mean u can play it at work or school where you cant exactly DL and run an EMU let alone th NES ROMS.
You just click and play. Nice, simple, and elegant.
BTW, Firefox seems to work the best, and yes the button placement is pretty retarded.
