- miakeru, on 10/12/2007, -2/+44Really kick ass job, guys. Made me want to start playing the Halo games through again. Bravo.
- NightRush, on 10/12/2007, -1/+38This video reminds me of simple times, Driving in a warthog, in some random hole with 2 bases on each side..
- CBTF, on 10/12/2007, -19/+7Good work, as others have said this was really well done...
Reminds me of simple times too. Ah, good old Halo. It was a great drunken party hit. Nothing better than teamkilling. - alex.will, on 10/12/2007, -5/+19Did anyone else think this looked like the Blue Man Group? There were definately 3 guys in all black painted blue. It also seemed to have pretty high production values for a high school talent show.
- airmann90, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9That song, for the weirdest of reasons, sends chills down my back! I love it!
- electrosoccertu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5It sounds like you changed a bit of stuff up. If you guys have a direct recording of that I'd love to hear it (youtube audio sucks). Remixes of classics are always fun.
- super_spyder, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5the chick on the violin stole the show, she was amazing guitar was a little weak in comparison..... although im sure he would have been great on his own
- StrokerAce, on 10/12/2007, -4/+0Wow. Me and a couple of buddies did 'Stairway to Heaven' at our high school talent show. This just showed me how bad we were. These kids were great!
But, whilst the auditorium started to empty, we kicked into 'Holiday in the Sun' by the Sex Pistols, and brought about a spontaneous moshpit in front of the stage. The adminstration was not amused...
- GrimReeper, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Nice, I like the Mario bit as well. It was not bad at all.
- Zinite, on 10/12/2007, -23/+7Not bad at all? I just jizzed all over my monitor.
- xtmno3, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I love the mario bit as well, but I just wish it was not in there. I love the Halo song, and wish that it did not switch in the middle. Takes you out of the whole 'epic' feeling the song has when it switches...
- eastbeast314, on 10/12/2007, -1/+23Tremendous violin! Great job on bringing all that together!

I really wish the video had better audio. It probably sounded amazing live.- betterth, on 10/12/2007, -1/+20File before YouTube @ 35MB: http://pasra.org/HaloTheme.mov

- VicTheKnife, on 10/12/2007, -1/+35Thanks a lot guys. Just FYI, that violinist is now attending Juliard school of music. She is fantastic.
- joeTaco, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1God damn right. You're all great, but she stole the show. The fact that she's going to Juliard makes my heart smile.
Also, you're a lucky sonofabitch for getting to play with a Juliard-bound violinist in high school.
- joeTaco, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1God damn right. You're all great, but she stole the show. The fact that she's going to Juliard makes my heart smile.
- dantidote, on 10/12/2007, -1/+17so... i think everyone is wondering... Did you win?
I cant imagine you wouldnt, that was freakin awesome. - xXShadowstormXx, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Dude, that was absolutely fantastic. Great job!
How long did it take you guys to learn that? (Like, exactly how to play it, etc) - GraysDigg, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2Rock on!

* What no grizzle? - VicTheKnife, on 10/12/2007, -2/+43Ha ha, sad enough, it wasn't a competition. But we did close out the night!
We spent a week learning the music, but there was about one month of transposing and arranging all the music. This was all done by the guitar player (David Verlee) who one night left his halo game on the opening screen for hours just writting down all the music. David also performed all the effects (choir, etc.) by using a midi pickup which he installed into his guitar...it is a Very cool toy!
Thanks for the feedback everyone, I thought a few people might enjoy it!- Kriss, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8Good work by David, transcribing that must have been really tricky, especially considering the mad drum parts. I love when it goes into hard rock style, too. Class.
- Logan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11Would you mind uploading the transcribed music, if you have it in a format that it is easy to do that too?
- moobster, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I'd love having the violin music. If you wouldn't mind giving that out, that would be great.

- Cynicalsomethin, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4Wow...I wish people would have done something like that at my high school. Simply Amazing!
- hotbeefman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13I wept with joy, kid. Damn good show, you son of a bitch! Damn good show indeed!
- Abatrour, on 10/12/2007, -16/+4I hope they won! No mention of that though..
- Caboose101, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Wow that was great, the origional halo music composer was pleased with their performance... halo.bungie.org
- homestar14, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2That was just amazing. I applaud all of you on such an amazing performance, and also to David Verlee for a great arrangement of it.
- ontain, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Does this remind anyone else of the musical number that the nerds performed in Revenge of the Nerds? not in the music but the concept.
- DS513, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Makes me proud to be a gamer. Rock on! *Salute*
- Petrarch1603, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6at first i thought this would be really amateur and lame (admit it: some lame videos make it to the front page) however i was really taken by it. Thanks!
- Crimsoneer, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Honnestly...I am amazed. Hardly a musician at heart, but that was pretty damn sick. Have a cookie.
- Aceanuu, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Wootage for that. Digg plus. Great job.
- masterc, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2That was amazing! Awesome job!
- Oates, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3i watched it twice...gave me chills.
- MacGyverDXS, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Freaking amazing. I had chills. Great job!
- Rizmaster, on 10/12/2007, -43/+1Halo is so gay. Sucks total ass.
- CraigJ, on 10/12/2007, -8/+5maybe you are in the closet?
- popltree2, on 10/12/2007, -2/+18If you don't have some positive critiquing, shut the f*** up.
- CharlesSaint007, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Badass...
- bunkka, on 10/12/2007, -7/+6thats the ***** *****!
- Ennui1936, on 10/12/2007, -29/+6I'm going to have to call you on this one. This was a Blue Man Group performance and it should be obvious to anyone who watches the video closely. The PVC marimba is a dead give away. The lighting effects are way beyond a high school talent show. The confetti launch is pretty much a trademark of a BMG performance. You can make out the blue costumes at 4:00 when they walk to the front of the stage. Around 6:56ish the announcer even says Blue Man Group 2006. They are amazing musicians and you really shouldn't be trying to take credit for their performance.
- ImTheDarkcyde, on 10/12/2007, -23/+3definately appears to be the blue man group, thanks for bringing this up!
the lighting effects are what seals the deal on this forgery for me as well, marked as lame - DCWhite612, on 10/12/2007, -10/+7You could possibly be correct, by I don't think you should judge anything off of YouTube video quality. It could just be the lighting that makes them look blue. I have also never heard of the BMG doing this before. And I mean c'mon its just confetti, nothing special there. And the lighting could be real, might be a big huge private school for all we know. I think that it was not the BMG and the submitter is the real deal
- yodandy, on 10/12/2007, -18/+3yanno, as i was watching, i was thinking to myself...why are there 3 people slammin those drums dressed in blue? are they like imitating them?
Good call, good stuff is this really is your high school talent show, annnnddd your pathetic if you were lying about it...hmm, maybe you worked with BMG? At least mention that, hmm, mystery that needs to be solved. - rpike, on 10/12/2007, -20/+5Just watched the video. It is most definately Blue Man Group. Saw them in Vegas two weeks ago.
- truthRises, on 10/12/2007, -3/+22You must be kidding. OR You're hallucinating. These are obviously high schoolers.
- Resolver, on 10/12/2007, -3/+14watch the ending. never seen the blue man group on a stage like that.
- alex.will, on 10/12/2007, -16/+4Well, there were 3 guys dressed in all black and painted blue. I'm gonna guess this is the BMG. Seems odd to construct a story about this... So what's the deal Vic?
- aprocter, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14I'm not saying i know for sure whether it is or not, but it's a girl playing the violin and she doesnt look very blue... *shrug*
- ImTheDarkcyde, on 10/12/2007, -10/+2in addition to playing a giant rack of PVC pipes, what other band in the universe does that?
- Resolver, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10possibly a high school band trying to replicate a certain sound?
- jadewolf, on 10/12/2007, -6/+20Wow . . . such high end effects . . . Anyone who knows a damned bit about lighting would know that the "lighting effects" that you are oohing and aweing over like a preteen seeing his first porno are just a couple of cyberscans . . . and to boot a baby can run them too, combine that with some PAR cans and some cyc lights and guess what you have! A high school's basic lighting inventory . . . I can't believe that people can be so . . . ignorant. Add a few hundred thousand dollars worth of lighting gear on stage and then you might have something. Oh and as for the PVC Marimba . . . I've seen dozens of those things in various music departments . . . one kid or a class decide that it is cool to build one . . . then it sits around collecting dust, so it is kind of neat to see some music students actually playing one. Hangs head in shame . . . give the kids props where its due. It isn't the Blue Man Group, it's high school level, deal with the fact that the kids these days are more technologically inclined that we were at that age. Now I guess I had better get done with this rant and get back to finishing up my lighting plot for Full Monty. Have fun kiddies.

"captainrad (2 minutes ago)
Lol, 3 of us were dressed up as blue men. :)" - enderwigin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8its not that hard to do good lighting my schools band dose stuff like this
- nickerbocker, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15I didn't know the Blue Man Group show was hosted by teenagers. "Student Council Presents: Blue Man Group."
- sketchydave, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12Um, no. But they did such a great job that I understand why you are mistaking them for professionals.
Seriously though, look at the stage? BMG has a more extensive set up and their stage is a tad bit messier than just that within 5 minutes of their performances. Plus look at the SIZE of the stage...its a high school auditorium. And the PVC percussion has become a lot more popular ever since blue man group and it used all the time in marching band / drum-core. Then there is the fact that these look like kids playing the instruments, a bunch of kids came out towards the end, and there were a bunch of kids in the audience.
Vic, if you're reading these comments, take them as a compliment. You did such a great job performing that people think you are part of a multi-million dollar theater group. That's something to be proud of. Cheers and good luck in all your endeavors. - ImTheDarkcyde, on 10/12/2007, -10/+3"from the youtube link:
"captainrad (2 minutes ago)
Lol, 3 of us were dressed up as blue men. :)""
as if that isnt the lames lie coverup ever, how about i post a video of 'me' acting out the final scene from a play i wrote. oh by the way i am dressing up like super man. - jus1haz2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7what about all the kids on the stage at the end? They look like highschoolers to me...
- mandolinsrock, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I have seen the Blue Man Group twice, once in Berlin and once in Chicago. Both times were incredible, and both times were nothing like this. I think they might have built the BMG PVC instrument (my friends and I built a Drumbone last year in high school, it's really not that difficult), but they were definitely trying to get a blue man look and sound.
Other than that, it really is a great performance. If there's any way to get the transcript of that melody for violin, please let me know. - loststar1087, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2yes, because high schoolers are unable to paint their faces. i was there, this is for real
- MuzzBuzz10, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I was in the auditorium when this show was put on, it's definately not the blue man group, since they perform with three guys at a time, and no women. And it definately rocked! Sorry if you doubt its validity but, this took these musicians a lot of time to put this together so don't be rude. And PS it was a public high school, no billionaire parents or private institutions, but the violinist is now at Juliard
- ImTheDarkcyde, on 10/12/2007, -23/+3definately appears to be the blue man group, thanks for bringing this up!
- aprocter, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6That was awesome, there's some very real talent there. Amazing job.
- truthRises, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I wonder how long it will be until high school bands are marching to video game music at UIL competitions. F***ing awesome performance btw.
- moobster, on 10/12/2007, -26/+2Bury.
- wilsonder, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6nice. My hat goes off to the violinist, she was really into it.
I wish I coulda seen it live. - Daedalus81, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Good job. Just wish the audio pickup had been higher quality.
- RailsAddict, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10For the people that think this could be BMG, why would they take time out of making their mega-bucks to play a high-school talent show? It sure looks like kids playing to me. As far as the insturments and props go, that PVC creation cant be all that hard to make. I'm no musician, but the prinicple behind it seems pretty simple, different lengths of tube = different note, just gotta spend countless hours tuning it. As for the lighting, that stuff is entirely possible for a decently funded high school theater program, I'm pretty sure my old high school had similar lighting/effects. And the confetti is some pretty simple stuff as well, any industrious teenager who isnt failing physics can figure out how to shoot some confetti across a stage.
Whoever it was, BMG or High School kids, that was pretty bad ass. - Yoda716, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3SOOOOOO much better than my High Schools rendition. Ours was actually PAINFULLY BAD!
- Sheir, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5That was surpisingly ***** hardcore.
- artofwar420, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Makes me want to practice playing again! Sweet mother of perfection!
- VicTheKnife, on 10/12/2007, -1/+23ATTENTION PLEASE, NOT BMG
Hey guys, just to clear up a few things.
We are indeed NOT the Blue Man Group.
We dressed up as blue men during the show for the effect of trying to be cool percussionists (lol) plus the whole custom made PVC was our creation. (specifically Pat Fischl)
We were all at Libertyville High School, and this took place last spring.
You can even check out this video which was taped by a parent in our schools auditorium, it also zooms in on our faces a bit. :)

thanks for the tremendous support everyone!- sketchydave, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Nice, your bass player gets props for playing while wearing a paintball mask. Very, very well done.
- jus1haz2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3nice
- VicTheKnife, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15Continued Here's our bio

Thanks so much!- cphuntington97, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11Congratulations to violinist Hanah Stuart; for those of you not "in the know," Juilliard is just about the most pretigious music school in the world.
You heard some great violin playing on that video! (Too bad about the sound quality - sounds like clipping to me).
- cphuntington97, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11Congratulations to violinist Hanah Stuart; for those of you not "in the know," Juilliard is just about the most pretigious music school in the world.

- tdowling, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3That's some damn good stuff. And you're local, too! I'll try to catch the show at Oktoberfest...
- eur0, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1awesome, absolutely awesome
- coheedcollapse, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2I'm not a Halo fan at all (more of a computer FPS fan), but holy christ, that has to be the best amateur recreation of a video game theme ever. Seriously...not only did it sound incredible, you managed to make it visually interesting as well. Good job!
- ohhhL3ThaL, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3Needs more Breakdowns and two-step

Great job bringing it together it really turned out awesome. - Urusai, on 10/12/2007, -9/+1Good effort. Bad music.
- Agret, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3You mean bad sound quality surely, the halo theme is a beautiful piece of music and if you don't like it so what? That doesn't make it bad music.
- blacklilyninja, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3you are simply jealous
this was phenomenal.
- CraigNobbs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Great job. Two classics, great music. I enjoyed it a lot.

- migsims, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1effing amazing guy! Great to see hard work, talent, and teamwork come together to create one of the few not half-assed talent show performances ever.
