I do agree with you there. 1997-2000 was the golden years. Some of the brand new ones are okay, but 2001-2007/8 are usually trash. (see comment)

I would prefer VMs over Live CDs due to the fact that you get to see the install process (that scares away a bunch of would be linux users) and Live CDs do not always run very fast. Granted, VMs don't run as fast as the machines capabilites, but they are … (see comment)
