Without the support of the racists, the stupid, the undereducated and the perpetually paranoid McCain doesn't stand a chance. This election is a moral test of our national character. Anger and intolerance have always been the enemies of intelligence and understanding. Intolerance is itself a form of violence and an obstacle to the growth of a true democratic spirit.
Let's state our case openly. Let's trust most of our fellow Americans to rise to the occasion. The choice is clear. The time for euphemisms is past. Let's confront our worst national faults head on.
This year's contest for the presidency is between all that is worst about America and all that is greatest.
Now is the time for each of us to stand tall. We are here to enlarge hope, to add to the sum of human goodness.To prove the thing exists.And however futile each individual act of courage or generosity, self-sacrifice or grace may seem - it still proves that goodness exists. Each act adds to the fund.
