I've had my car start rolling down a hill with less of a gradient than that even when the handbrake's on. In a manual car (stick shift for all you Americans), you'd probably have to leave it in gear. (see comment)

Depends on the Mac I suppose. I think the newest iteration of Intel Macs with Nvidia cards will definitely be good enough. Mine is an early Intel with an ATi x1600 mobile card which is pretty good, but will probably be borderline. (see comment)
