Giant telescopes could be built from Moon dust

Comment in News (-8 diggs, 3 replies) - on 07/04/2008
No they could not. This is the worst "omg look a cur 4 cancer" story I've seen on Digg yet. This will NEVER happen, therefore it is unimportant. Telescopes COULD be build from moon dust? Really? No. By the time we have this technology, we can fly telescop … (see comment)

Sprout: The Online WYSIWYG Editor for Flash

FirstDiggFirstDigg sent a shout to royall64   179 days ago
Cool little tool that will let (for better or worse) anyone make their own little flash widgets. I tried it out myself and it was real easy to make a simple badge with a countdown & a map.

Digg the story before my countdown expires hehe. Thanks. =]

Stroke of Genius: Tiny Vacuum Cleaner Clears Brain Clots

FirstDiggFirstDigg sent a shout to royall64   180 days ago
Using a device called 'Penumbra,' specialists are now able to help stroke victims by threading a tiny tube inside a blood vessel at the groin and pushing it up the body and into the brain until it reaches the clog. Just like a vacuum cleaner, it sucks up the clot bit by bit to restore blood flow.

Google Translate bug mixes up Heath Ledger, Tom Cruise

FirstDiggFirstDigg sent a shout to royall64   184 days ago
a rather odd bug in the Google Translate software was found: its English-to-Spanish translator converts the name of the actor Heath Ledger, who died tragically on Tuesday, to the name of another actor--Tom Cruise. So if you enter in "I will miss Heath Ledger," Google Translate will come back with "Voy a perder Tom Cruise."

Try it out yourself @ http://translate.google.com/ & then digg :)

Top 10 Reasons to Believe Logic Over Religion

FirstDiggFirstDigg sent a shout to royall64   187 days ago
8. Bad things happen to good people, great things happen to bad people. For a society that constantly gets the short end of the stick when it comes to miracles, why the hell are people stopping to help stalled motorists getting raped & murdered, but every time a girl scout makes it to my door she’s out of thin mints? I’m sick of it!

I'm more of a Samoas guy myself, but digg anyway, its funny. =]

Social Networks, from the 80s to the 00s

FirstDiggFirstDigg sent a shout to royall64   188 days ago
As Facebook enjoys its moment in the sun, we should take a moment to step back and look at the history of computers and social communication. Some historical perspective is in order, both to assess the real value of social networks as businesses, and to anticipate how they are likely to evolve in the future.

Digg, while you still can! =]

CarTorrent - Peer-to-peer networking for cars

FirstDiggFirstDigg sent a shout to royall64   189 days ago
Researchers from UCLA are working on a wireless network that will allow cars within 300-1000 feet of each other to talk to each other, simultaneously downloading information in the shape of road safety warnings, entertainment content and navigational tools (i.e. traffic jam ahead). Toyota and BMW are on board helping to bring the project to life.

Digg because BitTorrent for Cars is neat ;)

U.S. video game industry growth seen slowing

FirstDiggFirstDigg sent a shout to royall64   202 days ago
Overall U.S. industry sales are seen rising to $17.9 billion in 2008, up 13 percent from an estimated $15.8 billion in 2007, the Consumer Electronics Assoc said. That compares with a 22 percent increase from 2006 to 2007. The expected decline in growth comes as the industry moves beyond the initial phase of the introduction of new gaming consoles.

Drivers on Cell Phones Clog Traffic -hands free doesn't help

FirstDiggFirstDigg sent a shout to royall64   207 days ago
Motorists who talk on cell phones drive slower on the freeway, pass sluggish vehicles less often and take longer to complete their trips, according to a University of Utah study. "At the end of the day, the average person's commute is longer because of that person who is on the cell phone right in front of them," says Professor Dave Strayer.

Texting delays a given on New Years, celebrate accordingly

FirstDiggFirstDigg sent a shout to royall64   208 days ago
It probably doesn't come as much of a shock to you that plenty of texting goes down midnight-ish tonight, and naturally the carriers are gearing up for just such an onslaught. One study shows however shows 70% of people who send messages at midnight experience a delay in delivery and suggests using IM or email from your phone instead if you can.

.. shouting works too :) Happy New Year Everyone! Thanks to all of you who have submitted great stories, and of course dugg mine this past year!

Microsoft takes Vista ads to YouTube - YouTube attacks back!

FirstDiggFirstDigg sent a shout to royall64   209 days ago
Wondering where all the ads for Vista have disappeared to? Look no further then YouTube. Unfortunately for Microsoft they’ve also left the floodgate wide open for ‘constructive criticism’. Microsoft-bashers have taken it upon themselves to let the world know how much better the other operating systems are in the comments.

TV, Juicebox and Jonny

FirstDiggFirstDigg sent a shout to royall64   210 days ago
A long time ago in a land far away, there lived a boy named Johny.
He didn't have any friends because he was poor and he smelled bad, but that was about to change.
Because when he sat down for his favorite treat, he spilled his Juicebox on his TV
Electrical sparks shot out everywhere! And TV, Juicebox came alive!
He said, we'll be your friend Johny, we don't care if you smell like a urinal.
Come on come on we'll have adventures! Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah!!

haha I must have watched this 10 times by now. Check it out, its funny :)
