crimson editor is my favorite! free, open, source, search with regular expressions, add custom tools or macros, and easily add syntax highlighting for other languages that aren't included by default. Everyone i work with uses text pad and i can't stand it … (see comment)

Game has an active community, and developers that frequent the forums. They're willing to make changes based on player feedback. Linux version has a few bugs related to openGL but nothing major. (see comment)
