Intel is mainly faster and cost effective in the $150+ proc range, while AMD sells slower quad-cores for much less that compete against Intel's old Core 2 Duos and Pentium dual cores. If I had to build a gaming PC right now, I'd probably buy the Athlon I … (see comment)
