My problem was always the other way round. I wanted Quicktime but didn't want iTunes. And every time the updater went off it tried to install iTunes again. Just stop it, Apple. It's not clever and it's not funny. (see comment)

So how about looking at OSX as if it's a Linux Distro. How good and timely is Apple about pushing upstream updates out into the Distro update channel? How complete is there repository? As good as say Ubuntu or Fedora? Or worse? (see comment)
