Yes a rag tag group of slaves in revolt toppled a weak and fragile French hold on the colony. After that people forcibly brought there had to fend for themselves and were economically strangled by almost all other nations. The U.S. did not emancipate slav … (see comment)

In Haiti they are called Restavek, which loosely translates to "servant." Its a fairly common practice that borderlines on slavery but its extremely taboo to bring the subject up amongst Haitians. Its the elephant in the room and quite frankly in Haiti th … (see comment)
