IE overall usage slips, but IE 8 gains

Comment in News (1 digg, 0 replies) - on 10/27/2009
I am surprised about the IE6 news: that of the IEs, it’s still the most widely used. It’s very hard to believe! (I know a lot of it is down to corporate usage, but I had foolishly expected even those people to have moved at least to IE7, or away from the … (see comment)

Facebook has 300 million users, most bored

Comment in News (1 digg, 0 replies) - on 10/23/2009
A great deal of Facebook’s troubles can be traced to the attitude of management, which has not only annoyed users, but led to several high-profile resignations from the firm. Its CEO is probably too young to understand the lessons of, say, AltaVista, whic … (see comment)

Interracial couple denied marriage license in Louisiana

The judge also said that mixed marriages did not last. What evidence did he have for this? Sounds like a bunch of baloney to me. As to his claims of potential children not doing well, I guess he forgot who the President of the United States is. (see comment)

The Airbus 330 - an accident waiting to happen

Comment in News (1 digg, 0 replies) - on 07/21/2009
To think, I used to prefer flying on an Airbus. This is enough to make me insist on flying on a Boeing from now on. Sounds like the Comet débâcle all over again. (see comment)

When I read the headline, I literally thought they meant a party organized by Facebook, or with some Facebook corporate connection—so very good point there on that. But then, it is the Mail. (see comment)

TRANSCRIPT: E-mails Between Carrie Prejean and Keith Lewis -

Comment in News (1 digg, 0 replies) - on 06/16/2009
I was prepared to call her Miss USA thoughts on gay marriage an opinion, and thought she had been unfairly vilified for exercising her freedom of speech, but Miss Prejean shows a great deal of immaturity in this exchange. I take my hat off to Mr Lewis for … (see comment)

Will Digg Be a Better Place Without Shouts?

Comment in News (3 diggs, 0 replies) - on 05/28/2009
That was plain arrogant of Digg to not either tell us, or have some notification on its site about the change. I realize it’s on the Digg blog now, but it wasn’t when I first surfed in. It shows the company is every bit as arrogant as, say, Facebook, with … (see comment)

Digg Shout Comes To An End

Comment in News (2 diggs, 0 replies) - on 05/28/2009
I wouldn’t have minded so much if Digg warned us this was coming. For me, the first sign I had that something was afoot was when I came in here. That, to me, was arrogant of Digg. (see comment)

My recollection, maxxpower5000, is that there is a copyright claim in the US. If you look at precedent, the utilitarian argument is used to “strip away” the elements that are utilitarian, and what is “left over” is scrutinized by the court. (It’s a simpli … (see comment)
