According to John Holmes, the U.N. coordinator for humanitarian affairs, he said that the death toll from Cyclone Nargis ranges from 63,000 to 100,000, well above the Myanmar government’s announced toll of 22,000. Most of the victims were in the Irrawaddy Delta, where as many as 6 million people lived. It was reported that about 2,000 square miles of land in the Irrawaddy Delta is under water.
