UK facing economic crisis
The UK is facing its worst economic crisis in 60 years, Chancellor Alistair Darling has admitted. He told the Guardian newspaper that the economic downturn would be more "profound and long-lasting" than most people had feared.

McCain advisor: Palin WIll Learn On The Job
"AT THE FOOT OF THE MASTER???!!!!!"
You don't hear me shout in all caps often, but I must say, that's just about the most sexist piece of crap I've heard. From the McCain camp, that's expected. They don't even know when they're being sexist. McCain certainly doesn't, that senile angry old fool.
Listen to me: I don't want that woman anywhere near the line of succession to the presidency.

This is an amazing confession. David Frum is, of course, a Canadian-born neoconservative and journalist active in the both US and Canadian political arenas. I know him from his work several years ago as a former economic speechwriter for President George W. Bush.
Here's what he says:
FTA: Here's I fear the worst harm that may be done by this selection. The McCain campaign's slogan is "country first." It's a good slogan, and it aptly describes John McCain, one of the most self-sacrificing, gallant, and honorable men ever to seek the presidency.
But question: If it were your decision, and you were putting your country first, would you put an untested small-town mayor a heartbeat away from the presidency?
