Heh. What boat? It is certainly planned, and I don't think not having it for a few releases (while being one of the only media players on Linux to manage both music and vidoes) is missing any boat. (see comment)

No, it's reasonably fast. I've only personally tested a 25K song library, and searching it takes about two seconds, and will be improved (by avoiding lower() sqlite function, for those who want the technical details) soon. (see comment)

Actually, you can. If you press / you'll open a search bar, and you can search tags, comments, and file location there. I added that feature on 2007-04-13. (see comment)

0.13.2 and before have quite decent support, including on-the-fly transcoding. But DAP and other hardware-related features are not in this first Alpha release. They will certainly be back in before the 1.0 release, and probably by the next Alpha. (see comment)

We have a great iTunes importer for stable that will be ported as part of the 1.0 process. You could install it and use it on Banshee 0.13.2, and then run 1.0 Alpha 1 which will migrate appropriately. See http://code.google.com/p/banshee-itunes-import-p … (see comment)
