Whiteraven: Here is the problem with that. Had the premise for going to Iraq been explained in those terms, I highly doubt that this country would have supported it. Instead they told everyone that he had WMD's (which he probably did, but we knew th … (see comment)

Bye bye MP3?

Comment in News (4 diggs, 0 replies) - on 02/25/2007
I don't generally do lossless, but I know that mp3 generally cuts off around 16khz+, now the limit of human hearing is about 20khz give or take some, and hearing is severely diminished above 15khz or so, but a large amount of spatial information is encode … (see comment)

160gb flash based hard drive

All of the statistics I can find on 10k rpm drives show them with specs of about 70-80mb/sec with real world results between 50-60mb/sec so I would say its pretty comparable. (see comment)

EU's green drive could put £3,300 on a car

I think its a matter of control though, I know that I prefer driving mostly because I feel in control. I have some amount of control as to whether I crash and die, whereas in a train or plane I have no control as to what happens. I feel the same way whe … (see comment)

I think this is a non discussion as well.. I use linux on my desktop 95% of the time, because it works, and I dont worry about even running a virus scan on it, worst case I would have my userspace infected and thats not all that big of a deal. But my m … (see comment)

@mrfoos There is a huge difference between giving away a private citizen's data compared to getting records that should be public record already. Any regulation, any law, anything our government does should be open for its citizens to view/oversee.. an … (see comment)

bandwidth would only be unlimited where a speed was an infinite speed... I get 8mbs through my cable modem.. that means in a given month 8/8 = 1 MBs 1 * 60 (seconds) * 60 (minutes) * 24 (hours) * 30 (days average in a month) = 2592000 megabytes … (see comment)

Script.aculo.us: How to easily AJAX your site

Comment in News (1 digg, 0 replies) - on 12/29/2006
I think you are semi mistaken.. ajax requires a server side as much as xhtml requires a server side to serve up the data.. the xml does not have to be dynamically generated and can just as easily be a static xml file manipulated by javascript.. (see comment)
