Netflix and Xbox.com: Cheating you out of $4/mo?

Comment in News (1 digg, 0 replies) - on 07/23/2008
Netflix isn't cheating anybody out of anything, you are comparing apples to oranges. The $8.99 Xbox plan is for one DVD at a time with unlimited streaming and all you can eat rentals. The Netflix $4.99 package is for a one at a time, but only 2 rentals … (see comment)

Jury Clears Photographer Who Refused to Stop Photographing

Comment in News (45 diggs, 3 replies) - on 05/15/2008
My understanding of the law is that destroying evidence of any kind is considered a felony. Whether that evidence proves innocence or guilt is irrelevant. Even beyond any civil liability, these cops should have to answer to the same criminal charges tha … (see comment)

I'm not so sure about Hostmedia. Content on the site is really sparse and when I tried to upload a video last week it never showed up. I know that it's still in alpha phase, but it seems like they are more interested in soliciting donations than they ar … (see comment)

The New Gamefly and Netflix? Maybe...

Comment in News (1 digg, 0 replies) - on 03/27/2008
Somehow I doubt that this site has anything to do with Netflix or Gamefly, but it does still look interesting. If this is a real contender though, they should buy voxdisc.org and .net if they are serious about the name. I'd also consider a redesign on t … (see comment)

Webtender has always been too spammy for me. I've got very little tolerance for pop ups. Miss Charming looks like a good site, but so far my favorite is the Cocktail Database. http://www.cocktaildb.com/index … (see comment)

How to Rip Netflix's Instant Viewing Movies

Comment in News (1 digg, 0 replies) - on 01/14/2008
I'd be careful about using this method to save your movies. After this hack became popular Netflix started canceling the accounts of people who were abusing it. (see comment)

The ultimate guide to hacking a CoinStar machine

Comment in News (7 diggs, 1 reply) - on 12/20/2007
Not only is this story a duplicate from a year ago, but its also advocating stealing. Another way to "hack" coinstar would be to roll your own coins and take them to bank. The kiosks that automatically count the change cost something and if you don't wa … (see comment)

Great article. The only thing missing from the list is H.264 and and how it fits into the whole equation, but that is a more recent video format. Overall a great overview on the options that consumers have to pick from. (see comment)

Netflix buys Google.cm?!

Comment in News (1 digg, 0 replies) - on 11/06/2007
It's possible that Netflix owns this domain, but I wasn't able to find any whois information on it. I think it's probably more likely that someone else owns the domain, but are forwarding traffic to Netflix, as part of some affiliate agreement, either wa … (see comment)

I think that this is smart by NBC because it allows non-DVR owners to get caught up on the show. Heroes is really good, but loses some of it's magic if you watch out of order. When I first saw that they were promoting Heroes I was really surprised, I fi … (see comment)

Is it really worth upsetting an entire community just to spam for a couple of hits. You won't get any customers from this type of activity, but you may end up upsetting a lot of DirecTV fans. (see comment)
