Black immigrants, on the whole, fare far better economically than native-born blacks. A quarter of foreign-born blacks have bachelor's degrees, vs. 16% of those born in America, according to the 2007 study by researchers at Princeton and Penn. The median income for African-immigrant households is over $45,000, vs. $41,000 for black Caribbean-immigrant households and just under $36,000 for U.S.-born black households. Black immigrant children are more likely than native-born black children to be raised in two-parent homes.
