It could go either way just as easily. You basically incriminated yourself by saying what you did. The best thing I've heard to do is to politely ask why you were pulled over. (see comment)

Driving is easy to get used to. Mid mission checkpoints? The missions are like 10 minutes long. If you're dying that often, then you need to rethink your strategies. Co-op would be nice, though. (see comment)
