If I see a sign that says "Don't feed the bears or the ranger will shoot you" and I feed the bear and the ranger shoots me, the ranger's still going to go to jail for shooting me. "I warned you" is not a valid legal excuse, nor is "don't feed the bears" … (see comment)

I think you're right, but it's more complex than that. Many laws include a provision at the end that says "P.S. this law trumps any contradictory laws that came before this one." If the DMCA has such a clause, then who knows whether this is still true. … (see comment)
