this article was definitely an eye-opener for me. it takes a look at 7 different offers that really aren't 'on the level' so to speak:
"Last year, Americans frittered away more than $1.2 billion on dubious deals, an average of $2,057 for every consumer, according to the Federal Trade Commission."
one of the biggest ones that i wind up doing myself is 'extended warranties' but this has made me rethink it:
"Retailers profit by as much as 80 percent on these contracts. Bank the money you would have spent on an extended warranty. "Everything you own isn't going to fall apart at the same time," says Travis Ford, "but if one thing does, you're covered."
