Atlanta's "Spaghetti Junction" [PIC]

Comment in News (41 diggs, 5 replies) - on 09/02/2007
Bah, it's too regular, spaghetti is random. Try the UK's spaghetti junction just outside birmingham: http://www.multimap.com/map/photo.cgi?client=public&x=409595&y=290268&scale=10000&width=700&height=410 … (see comment)

Comment in News (0 diggs, 1 reply) - on 08/21/2007
As Alex Limi said in another thread, we've been promoting the digg link on our irc channel and mailing list, but you'll notice that thread was hours after the submission. As to the comments, find anywhere that people have been told what to put. It's a b … (see comment)

Watch Ann Coulter lose it

Comment in News (10 diggs, 1 reply) - on 06/29/2007
You know, it's exactly comments like that that Ann is making. She doesn't deserve to die, but I also hope she never raises a child. It would be a horrible, bile-filled environment and the best thing would be for her to fade into obscurity alone. (see comment)

Can there be "unbreakable" encryption? NIST says they've done it

Comment in News (3 diggs, 0 replies) - on 06/10/2007
The only way a cryptosystem can be "unbreakable" is if it offers what's called "perfect security". Seems obvious, but the term "perfect security" is defined as P(M=m | C=c) = P(M=m), in other words the probability of a message being "Hi" is equal whether … (see comment)

The Holy Grail of Particle Physics may Already Have Been Found.

Comment in News (2 diggs, 0 replies) - on 06/08/2007
This is a very bad article. It mentions "guaranteed" success, as well as implying that finding the Higgs Boson would prove the standard model. Both utter nonsense. Personally, I reckon the approx. €2 milliard cost Wikipedia states for the LHC is more t … (see comment)

Trent Reznor on 'Hurt': 'It's Not My Song Anymore'

Comment in News (1 digg, 0 replies) - on 06/06/2007
Old story, but anyway. I agreed with the sentiment until I saw NIN live a few months ago. Trent singing Hurt live is a lot better than the Cash studio version. (see comment)

6 Billion Bits of Data About Me, Me, Me!

Although gametes do contain only half the genetic code they are not identical. Given the amount of sperm we're talking about it's highly likely we'll have all the code, especially considering that meiosis creates complementary pairs. (see comment)

Comment in News (4 diggs, 1 reply) - on 05/12/2007
Dildo vending machines have been around clubs here (U.K.) for quite some time. The interesting thing here is that it's luminar and anne summers (big club company and big sex toy company) partnering. The current stuff is a bit tacky to say the least, I w … (see comment)

Man Charged For Spending $80,000 Mistakenly Deposited In His Bank Account

Comment in News (1 digg, 0 replies) - on 04/28/2007
I'm amazed that _nobody_ has said they'd call the bank to query the transaction! I'd have informed them of their error and requested a better rate on my overdraft. (see comment)

Of course, in the UK the age of consent is 16. Therefore I can say I'd do terrible things to her. And she'd love it, the dirty minx. (see comment)

I'm sorry, but the Voice Recognition Hack is exactly that. It allows external access to a machine. True, it's not a vital flaw, but it would have been so easy to fix (see OSX's speech recognition options) that it's absurd that they didn't. (see comment)
