The Distance of Love: On Auden's poem "Are you there?"
Thank you so much for the help you've given recently! I've almost made the front page twice because of y'all, but more importantly, those comment threads were awesome: literate and thoughtful and packed full of info.
This is about a poem. It is not political. I hope if you have some time you'll at least read the poem: I read Auden before I sit down to write, hoping it'll implicitly sharpen my prose.

The Distance of Love: On Auden's poem "Are you there?"
This is a really difficult poem, and I'm not sure how Diggers will respond. It concerns different conceptions of "love" at different stages in life, and for that reason I thought it might be noteworthy. I'm in a rather adolescent stage myself.

A Waste of Resources:The GOP’s New “Republican for a Reason
Short, to the point, and not really that right-wing - more a lament about why on earth the GOP would create such a bad site, when information on how to create something better is readily available.

On "Batman Begins:" What is Justice? How is fear overcome?
Your help with this is requested, if you haven't seen it already. I think it's an awesome article and quite a few diggers seem to agree: I just wish a few more of them would agree sooner :)

On "Batman Begins:" What is Justice? How is fear overcome?
Requesting your help with this - it won't change the world, that I know. But it is a cut above much of the other stuff in the movie section.

On "Batman Begins:" What is Justice? How is fear overcome?
Hey all, sorry if I'm repeating myself - I've packed a ton of political philosophy into this essay and I think given the topic it might actually have realistic front page chances. Your help is appreciated. It feels good to be in a position to start a serious discussion about a very serious issue that is theoretical, granted, but helps us make sense of life.

Notes on Dickinson’s “Hope is the thing with feathers…”
It's a poem, but it and the commentary read quickly. I'm pretty sure you'll enjoy this.

Notes on Dickinson’s “Hope is the thing with feathers…”
Some thoughts on hope - is it real or not? It would seem that to truly hope, one wouldn't even be able to conceive of the possibility of getting something.

What Can We Reasonably Expect from Partisanship?
It's long but I think it reads quickly and gets to the point - hope you enjoy this!

Can Comedy Save the Republic?
Back in ancient Greece, the comedian Aristophanes made fun of Socrates so well that the charges from his play "The Clouds" became the reasons why Socrates was put to death. Aristophanes saw philosophy as useless and threatening to the rule of law. More modern comedians put everything down thinking they can do no wrong: is this salutary for civics?
