Digg Front Page Activity Sees Drastic Drop

Comment in News (6 diggs, 0 replies) - on 10/01/2009
Yes, the average would be down if more stories went popular, but you missed that the TOTAL # of diggs too are down. FTA: "For example, September 2008 there were over 5 million diggs on stories that went popular. August 2009 less then 3 million." (see comment)

Comcast in deal talks with NBC Universal

Comment in News (12 diggs, 2 replies) - on 10/01/2009
Not that I'm a fan of comcast at all (after all they killed TechTV!) but I do see this as a better alternative then the government owning a major media station (Remember the bailout of GE? GE currently owns NBC). (see comment)

U.S. may need as much as $350 billion to extend broadband

Comment in News (10 diggs, 2 replies) - on 09/30/2009
Because cable companies in rural America wont do it on their own. If the thing didn't happen in the past rural America still wouldn't have paved roads, phones, or electricity. (see comment)

U.S. may need as much as $350 billion to extend broadband

Comment in News (1 digg, 1 reply) - on 09/30/2009
The range was for the types of broadband speeds. The cheap, obsolete in a year system would cost 20 billion while the system that would be good for the next ten years would be 350 billion, or there abouts. (see comment)

I think some people will disagree. I have broadband where I am, but the town where I grew up has been fighting with the cable company for years to get broadband in place and it still hasn't happened. For my parents the only real option for affordable inte … (see comment)
