Numerous times during high school I received physical and verbal abuse from my peers. What hurt most was the verbal abuse even from teachers or passers by on the street who overheard a conversation I was having.

I was stranded, and it's so hilly up there you can't get any signal on your car phone. It looked bad...it looked like I was going to have to spend the night in Glasgow. The cabin crew suggested we all go out and club it. I had no option, it was that or one of their B&Bs. I figured it'd be safer on the streets. For the first time ever I saw the Scotch in their natural habitat...and it weren't pretty. I had seen them huddling in stations before being loud, but this time, I was surrounded. Everywhere I went it felt like they were watching me...fish-white flesh puckered by the highland breeze, tight eyes peering out for fresh meat. Screechy, booze-soaked voices hollering out for a taxi to take them halfway up the road to the next all-night watering hole. A shatter of glass. A round of applause. A sixteen year old mother of three vomiting in an open sewer; bairns looking on, chewing on potato cakes. I ain't never going back. Not never.

Extensive genetic profiling across the UK has shown that the vast majority of the population of all the countries have Celtic genetic majority. In certain parts of the East of England the percentage drops in favour of Saxon and Nordic influence, but to all intents and purposes, we are all much of a muchness.
Even to bring our various cultures into it, there's not much difference there either, if you take it on a worldwide scale. Any difference the may once have been was eradicated once we brought the Scots to bear (to our shame, of course). Such national paraphernalia as kilts, trews and Tartan were synthetically antiquated in the Victorian era and have been invested with a fairly hilarious importance ever since, considering their appearance.

Hell, if you break it down into counties and you'll find they still hate each other. You could even take Glasgow, or Manchester, and find half the town hates the other half of the town. It is just the British mentality throughout. Most of it seems to do with football (soccer, to the Americans here), but it seems the population of the UK will do anything for a fight.
