- brucealmighty, on 03/25/2009, -1/+16Yup....also a great time to buy a new Porsche or Hummer. Prices are rock bottom and you can just put it on your credit card........Doh.......
- AmazingSteve, on 03/26/2009, -0/+14Anybody seen the airfares to Europe? Apparently someone forgot to tell the airlines that the economy is *****.
- yocouchdigga, on 03/25/2009, -4/+17Very true, I just got back from a nice trip to Vegas for about $300 cheaper than last year (sans the blow, hooker, the human-sized bag, the awkward cab ride to the store, the shovel, paying off our cab driver [in all fairness, Emilio was great], the years of hurt and regret over Eiffel Towering an amputee) had a ***** awesome time - Get out there, people!
- alanocu, on 03/25/2009, -2/+13All of those details - should have stayed in Vegas.
- philoponia, on 03/25/2009, -1/+7What happened to traveling because it is fun?
- wannaBdug, on 03/25/2009, -0/+6I can think of many reasons that I should pack my bags, but that's another story
- daimposter, on 03/26/2009, -1/+6why would you want to visit el paso?
- Haoie, on 03/25/2009, -0/+3Exchange rate isn't too great now against the greenback.
For us non Americans anyway. - rlclark, on 03/26/2009, -0/+3The deals are really amazing for the higher end resorts. For my honeymoon we're going to the Sandals in the Bahamas for a 75% discount based on their typical prices. The site lists the sale at 65% but it can be negotiated.
http://www.sandals.com/ - Scottamus, on 03/26/2009, -0/+2I have yet to see any of these killer deals. I'm an avid deal hunter and they are just as elusive as ever.
- alanocu, on 03/25/2009, -0/+2Go with the Hummer.
The mean body temperature of the earth’s gerbils is rising at an alarming rate, all because of the planet’s greenhouse effect. A greenhouse global gerbil warming warning paper, to coincide with this year’s Earth Day misery meetings, predicts dire consequences for the future of the planet.
So, you're going to need a bad-ass ride to maneuver through the tornadocanes and torrential flooding after the polar ice caps melt.
Many gerbologists disagree, but gerbil owners testified that their little pets were sweating profusely. Others jumped into open refrigerators or spent hours in front of house fans. - Tooch07, on 03/27/2009, -0/+2Seriously. I may be going to Berlin in August but the prices do seem to have a dropped a bit since the last time I checked; it's about $850-$950 from either NYC (JFK/LAG), Philadelphia or Harrisburg. A few months ago it was about $1200 from those same airports.
- xamox, on 03/26/2009, -0/+2Yeah, tickets are only $200, then they add on the service fees, craptastic fees, luggage fees, before you know it you dropped $330 on your flight.
- nesagwa, on 03/26/2009, -0/+2That means its good for us Americans.
- dieboldcracy, on 03/26/2009, -0/+2Um.......we have until summer or so to travel. When the treasury bond market collapses, so will our dollar, and we will REALLY see just how much trouble we are in. Argentina, Iceland.......we're next
- Hetman, on 03/25/2009, -1/+2I agree. I am going on a trip at the end of april. The plane tix and hotel have been cheaper than expected.
- BlackOculus, on 03/26/2009, -0/+1Discounts to where? I can't even get a round trip ticket between El Paso and Las Vegas for under $200.
- bapaw, on 03/26/2009, -1/+2I'm takin' a cruise!
- slvrbullet87, on 03/26/2009, -0/+1I was there last weekend as well, doesnt look like Vegas is hurting that bad. But then again i guess March Madness is one of their busiest times of the year
- javajoba, on 04/18/2009, -0/+1There are some great deals to Ireland and some of the best deals on cruise ships, and lux cruise ships are showing up with all the cruise lines.
- slvrbullet87, on 03/26/2009, -0/+1$1.35 against the Pound Sterling means i might have to go to jolly old London sometime soon
- BlackOculus, on 03/27/2009, -0/+1because that's the closest airport to where I live? Trust me, I'm not happy about that...it's just a fact : /
- bapaw, on 03/27/2009, -0/+1They are out there.
- bapaw, on 03/27/2009, -0/+1I'm still takin' a cruse...
- inactive, on 03/26/2009, -1/+1You are a tru American Sir...oh and also a patriot !
- pathouston22, on 03/26/2009, -3/+3Or you could simply travel cheap regardless of the economy. I just went on a 660 mile 3 day trip this past weekend to west/central Texas hill country. Spent about $30 total to camp, plus food, $40 worth of gas. Doesn't get much cheaper than that.
- CaptainKay, on 06/08/2009, -0/+0Surely it depends what job you are in?
- ObamaYouth, on 03/26/2009, -1/+1Yes. It is our patriotic duty to spend money to save the economy.
- roundmyworld, on 06/30/2009, -0/+0Well, all I can say is now seems to be a great time to travel (considering I'm halfway around the world instead of sat at home!)
Luckily home is Europe, and as someone pointed out, I don't think the airlines there know there is a recession on! (though if you are heading that way I'd recommend checking out RyanAir and Easy Jet - they're the 2 biggest low cost airlines and can be pretty damn cheap..)
Using http://www.roundmyworld.com to keep a blog of the travels so far - hope someone finds it useful - or entertaining! - scarlettletter, on 03/28/2009, -0/+0Only if I had money...... =(
- foxtrot0911, on 04/01/2009, -0/+0If you want to travel in asia specially philippines, here is a good blog of travel stories.
http://www.pinoyjaunter.com - brewt, on 04/09/2009, -0/+0I just picked up a great deal on airline tickets from Detroit to Orlando. I'm bringing the family to Disney World. I found the deal at http://www.cheapestairfare.org the site searches the internet for the cheapest airfare deals so you don't need to go from site to site to find the best deals. If you are looking for the cheapest airfare, I recommend you visit the site.
- allm3, on 05/04/2009, -0/+0~enjoy a 3 Day 2 Night Vacation just for trying... C.Y.A. while travelling & they will provide the hotel for your next trip..!

~¡!ǝɯ|llɐ¡!~ - CaptainKay, on 06/08/2009, -0/+0Everyone's saying its a bad time to travel, because no one can afford to, but I reckon this article makes a good point. Holidays and everything surrounding holiday, flights, parking, hotels are offering really good discounts... I might just pack my bags!
- Warren803, on 03/26/2009, -2/+1Yes yes, everyone knows now is the time to get great deals on travel. The problem isn't that people don't want to travel, but people are afraid to ask for time off work. In this economy, job security has tanked. This means if you take too many vacations, you're almost telling your boss that you're really not that needed and expendable. People also tend to save money when there is no job security. Everyone is expendable. Layoffs have ranged from the data entry specialist to the upper management positions making 100k a year. It's a vicious cycle. People and companies cut back because the economy sucks. The economy continues to suck cuz people and companies cut back. What can you do.
- diggface5000, on 03/26/2009, -5/+4Don't even think about any of these unless you have a 6-month emergency fund.
- koonchu, on 03/26/2009, -4/+2You tried too hard. I got bored reading halfway through. . .
- travelgirlworld, on 03/27/2009, -3/+0This is what I like to hear! I've noticed that airfares for May are especially low--definitely planning a trip...
If you're interested in travel, check out my blog! http://travelgirlseesworld.blogspot.com - booyahbitch, on 03/26/2009, -6/+2***** that!! I travel for my job and would pay the extra $300 just to stay home for a change!!
- inactive, on 03/26/2009, -6/+1Why Mint should stop spamming their ***** to the frontpage. Hi Mint, we get it. Times are tough. It's a recession and people started to stop caring about managing money cause they don't have any. Which means less traffic to your little ***** app. Now please screw off.
- inactive, on 03/25/2009, -9/+2Yup, travel now before the crippling carbon tax goes into effect. The cost Gore-credits will soon offset any savings you might incur. Besides, airlines burn fuel, which is bad for the Earth. Please just stay home and smell your own farts, hippies.
- inactive, on 03/25/2009, -8/+1ah.. okay..
too lazy to do.. that..!
Reason ??
too lazy to write reason...
