- jcharak58, on 08/06/2008, -0/+6Paul Allen spends 20 M a year in costs. Thats nuts
- mrrealtime, on 08/07/2008, -0/+2its not like he's setting the money on fire. It goes to local crew, parts manufacturers etc. that in turn feed their families with factory farmed food and buy chinese slave labour made products at walmart!
- xero69, on 08/06/2008, -0/+2The boats look nice but materialism is still ugly.
- Criffer, on 09/27/2008, -0/+1Very impressive, but i think it's sad that the yachts don't get more use.
Chris from
http://www.boatpride.com - kansai22, on 08/07/2008, -0/+1Maltese Falcon worlds greatest yacht. I have loved that yacht since it first set sail. Not only is the name epic but they design inside and out.
- uselessexpert, on 08/07/2008, -0/+1If you have it, why not?...
I would do the same. - JohnCub, on 08/07/2008, -0/+1No harm in coveting a yacht, right?
Oh wait, there's some rule...
Oh well, I was going to hell anyway -- covet ON! - revjustin2, on 08/07/2008, -0/+120 M could feed a lot of babies.
- TheNeptune, on 08/07/2008, -0/+0Definitely the best method is to always sit and do nothing... wait for the terrorists to act - its foolproof!
Oh, and never take personal responsibility. - surf1punk, on 08/07/2008, -0/+0I bet they still get bored on their boats.
- thegrantman, on 08/07/2008, -0/+0I had a conversation with an owner of a 100 footer."How much are these?" I asked. He answered "If I gave you the boat, paid the taxes, paid for the crew, the docking fees, the maintenance and so on and the only thing you had to pay for was the fuel you could not afford it." That was 5 years ago.
- OutThere, on 08/07/2008, -0/+0Yeah! And be sure they've been tuned up! We wouldn't want to have to drill for oil when the terrorists are willing to sell it to us!
- funklor, on 08/07/2008, -0/+0:/ Almost makes me want to yell "Long live the peoples revolution!". Almost.
- TheNeptune, on 08/07/2008, -0/+0Make sure your yachts are properly inflated.
- Andrewticus, on 08/07/2008, -0/+0Where's Lex Luthor's yacht?
- pazhood, on 08/07/2008, -0/+0What a douche. I bet he was busting for someone to ask that question so that he could recite his response.
- inactive, on 08/07/2008, -0/+0Duplicate digg.
- inactive, on 08/07/2008, -0/+0A reasonable size yacht costs about $250,000 per tank refill. And it burns through that fuel at a rate you wouldn't believe.
Phillip. - MysticSavage, on 08/07/2008, -0/+0Note to self...become a pirate.
- btschul, on 08/07/2008, -0/+0What the hell is going on? Almost all comments are at +0/-0 diggs, and now articles with 100 diggs and 3 comments are making the homepage? Someone broke the interweb.
- thegrantman, on 08/07/2008, -0/+0Yeah,he was a douchebag.I didn't mind though,I nailed his daughter the night before on that very boat.
- zadadka, on 08/07/2008, -0/+0I worked as crew on MVs such as these in the early 80's....in Port Gallice (Juan Les Pins), Antibes, Cannes, Villefranche & Monaco ...they were great (and rewarding) times, though often very long days.
As I remember, if the owner got a half a mile per gallon of deisel per engine, he was doing well. - roddack, on 08/07/2008, -0/+0Bet they are going on a 3 hour tour, a 3 hour tour
- bartol, on 12/07/2008, -0/+0Nice, some of the best I'we seen.
http://www.cheapflightsservice.com/North_America/U ... - Biks, on 08/07/2008, -0/+0I lived on the Alexander yacht for a week. I was editing video for a big company who chartered it for a week off of Greece. Every day I would wake up and quote the ending line from the Dudley Moore movie "Arthur" - "Ever been on a yacht? (No?) IT DOESN'T SUCK"
- uselessexpert, on 08/07/2008, -0/+0Sometimes I ponder what it would be like to have no money worries.
- senortaco, on 08/07/2008, -0/+0Damn rich people
- Frost9999, on 08/07/2008, -0/+0Having no money worries is not related to the amount of money you have. It's related to how much you worry.
- StarofTroy, on 08/07/2008, -0/+0That's what I thought when I read "yachts set sail."
- inactive, on 08/07/2008, -0/+0For every one per center that dies a horrible death, I, a ninety-nine per center, have a huge party and get wasted drunk in celebration!!
- Biks, on 08/07/2008, -0/+0LOL! I'm stealing that one! :-)
- inactive, on 08/07/2008, -0/+0Only if you can't afford the material.
- inactive, on 08/07/2008, -0/+0These yachts have swimming pools, home cinemas, Internet via satellite, on-board bars and dance-floors, hot-tubs on the roof, jet-skis, speedboats, as well as a stewardess that caters to your needs and a chef that will cook anything you desire. Sure they can still get bored, but no more (and probably less) than you would at home. It depends if you are surrounded by real friends, or people that have latched onto you for the freebies.
Phillip. - revjustin2, on 08/07/2008, -0/+0Freebies please.
- TidusX, on 08/07/2008, -0/+0I guess he means extremely excess materialism to the point of 20m a year just on a single item. Which I am sure even his Gucci boots didn't cost him that much.
- UniqueJewelry, on 08/07/2008, -0/+0From Istanbul to Izmir costs about $8,000 just for fuel...$50 to drive your car(we drive). The marinas in Turkey are full of gorgeous yachts...just a little dream of mine to sail the Mediterranean...dream, dream, dream...
- TWillz, on 08/07/2008, -0/+0and this story has been on the front page like 3 times this week. weird.
- drlha, on 08/07/2008, -0/+0yacht |yät|
noun
a medium-sized sailboat equipped for cruising or racing.
How's that? - wiachy, on 08/07/2008, -1/+0Death to all who can spend this lavishly! OBAMA FOR PRESIDENT!
- drlha, on 08/07/2008, -1/+0Sorry rich folks, if your gin palace has an engine and no sails, its a boat, not a yacht. Learn to sail, jackasses.
