We think about old times as if it was some kind of parallel universe where everything was in black and white. But then you watch something like this, and you realize that things were the same (I don't mean politically or technologically, of course). It could've been you walking along those streets, watching those "modern" 1950's cars go by.

- granrapmi, on 10/23/2009, -0/+0This lovely 3 minute capture of "The City" is NOT the same place as today. Sky scrapers now overpower some vistas shown on his tape. The pace of life in SF has multiplied numerous times since then too to a frenzied rush.

- YourNameHere1, on 10/22/2009, -1/+1You have no sense of history. Yes the world is racist, it still is, but San Francisco in 1958 had the Beat generation with people like Jack Kerouac, and a thriving Jazz scene in North Beach.
